I kept the FS typically about less than 1 month when I was a child. I think I may have let the FS fought for too many times. We had FS fights among the children like alternate weekdays. Weekends were for FS hunting and more FS fights. This hobby extended into secondary school.

Me too. Hobby ends around Sec 1. Things which I learn coming to this forum are:
1. The scientic name for our FS is Thiania Bhamoensis.
2. Spiders moult. When I was a kid, those sub-adults are BIG females.
3. Spiders can live for months. Indeed, Ura did tell me that he has a female one which is more than 2 years. Hope that he will be back soon with updates.
4. Another close relative species to our FS is Thiania Suboppressa

Hi utility47, during my childhood times, these were the following hokkien term:
-"soap" pao which is the currently known as chopster
- lor pao. Colour:black. Good fighter
- "ong lai" pao. Colour:pineapple golden in color.
- "chair" pao. Colour:green. The most common one.

oh, we never use "ong lai". we use "kim".
Lam = blue spiders tend to be favorite during my times.

Lam pao seemed to be rare during my times. My favorite FS is chopster and "or" pao. They are good fighters.
There was one time there was this "or" pao which dominated in my neighourhood. No body wanted to fight this "or" pao. After fighting with this "or" pao, the FSs came back with broken/missing claws and legs.

Hi Everyone

"Chair" pow was the most common when I was in primary school. We then used both the phrase "ong Lai" pow and "kim" pow but somehow "ong Lai" pow then referred to stronger willed Fs whereas the "Kim" pow referred to not so brave ones. Also we had "Pek kar twee" which referred to those without guts and see other FS run away type. Maybe it is newly moulted hence the legs being white. Whatever it is/was, it brings a lot of happy childhood memories.

I was on leave today and after sending children to school and wife to work, drove to Mandai with my Exspiderking-mobile in the back seat.

Yes, pedal power. Cycled along the reservoir, crossed the road into the park connector.



I had previously been inside this park connector and today explored this spot more intimately. This is how inside look like:-



Checked out the obvious leaves and yes, many Fs but female and small sized male. Cycled and cycled until reach the other end of park connector and wah...lily plant and caught 2 males here..feel like good old days of Nirvana.

That was him at the top and he is entry level SL. Decided not bring him home....

Some of the interesting things I spotted were the err....pond, bird nests and large seeds.



Had some time and headed for Nirvana and also no notable acquisition and those caught were too small.

Met Bros Ricky and Jason at Woodlands just after noon. This is a new spot to me though Bro Seng had invited me to hunt there some months ago. I understand that Bro Seng released many NTU pregnant females here in 2008 and thanks to him I now have a fresh spot to hunt.

This new spot is also generous in the male FS and each of us had between 3-5 newly caught.

2. Good to see Commando back in action. It initially belonged to Mindstorm and caught during CNY period.
3. Wow. Jason's Wasabi (finally saw it in action. I think the other time Jason told us that it has just moulted) and Big Sub can really fight. Wasabi fought five rounds non-stop?

Was enjoying Bro Randy's consistence post all along even though im kinda busy to post myself recently. Thanks for the effort of posting and making us feel alive in this forum bro Randy..Nice to meet some kakis in sg last weekend especially bro Ricky who has to constantly guide me to my destinations. Hunting was totally different in a group and yea fighting our fs with so many kakis around are definitely an experience not to be forgotten.

Wasabi no doubt is strong, can even win a bigger size fs but still ultimately my salute goes to 1 piece for being stronger even at his age, I think bro Randy has all the proves on sunday fight. Bro Rudy has done a good job in keeping his veteran fs healthy and remain yet the people's choice. overall 5 star experience. thanks to Bro Seng, Bro Randy, bro Ricky, Bro Rudy, uncle kim and his kakis for such a wonderful time.

Too bad bro Ken cannot make it else it will be even merrier..

yea utility 47, wasabi fought 5 round straight cause the fight are not bloodied or furious type so can still carry on. comando will be released due to his age. Big sub seems to be a potential good fighter but too bad he has to be released too cause one of his arm was bitten off by the bu in his nest, didnt realise the bu was pregnant. wasabi bit off as many as 2 of his opponent's leg in that 2 days. hope he will enjoy his days as a warrior in sg.

We all met up on Sunday at Lorong Lew Lian fight arena at 2.00pm.

Present were Bros Ricky, Rudy, Jason, me, Ah Chiew, Ah Kim and his happy group of friends. There were easily between 7-10 happy people there.

The fight format was a royal rumble type where everyone fights everyone. We were aware that Bro Ah Kim will bring his newly moulted Hong Kong Fs but all of us were not scared.

Somehow I could not upload some fights and will do so in a more appropriate time. Those include fights involving Durax, Nina Bay, Chow Yun Fatt, Fatty , Kurt Angle and 99 Hit.
