Thanks viper88 for the info. Are all sub-adults male? If not, how do we differentiate between male and female?

As posted earlier... the easiest way is see the pedipalps.. if swollen its a male.. if flat its a female.
Can see direct from top, front or side view using own eyes.

Another option is place the subadult FS on leaf for awhile and remove it. Later place an adult male fs onto the same leaves..
See the male fs reaction.. if its like in frantic excited mood, leg standing high and searching around.. means it sense a female FS around.
Female FS have their pheromones traces left on the leaf and it will attract male fs by making them more alert and active.

If the adult male fs just walk / ran around the same leave like normal... means.. the earlier subadult FS is a male.

Some FS kakis put their King male FS into empty female FS nest to make it excited 1st so will be more aggresive in fight later on.

Or another way is see under the fs abdomen from see through case.. the female FS will have a small hole/opening

Happy pre-Easter to Viper88 & fellow FS bros,

Hi bro viper88 and fellow FS bros,
I am aware not to overfeed the FS prior fights making them sluggish during fights. Not tong bu on the night prior the fights like footballers.ha ha.
What other ways to make FS more aggressive in preparing for fights? hmm.gif

Hi Everyone

My pre-fight ritual is to fight my kings with smaller spar about 1-2 days before fight day.

This morning, hunted with Bro Ricky at " Ricky's KJE spot.". rclxms.gif

Parked near to this place...

Attached Image

Actually brought BMX along and our hunt involved Ricky dropping me at the exact spot and he cycle to meet there to hunt together.

The biggest question is have FS?

Ans: Yes, many and surely much more than Nirvana (hunted there earlier at 0715-0730) or NTU (Hunted there at 0735-0745). At Ricky's KJE spot, I caught about 6 males but not good size. Bro Ricky caught at least one good size FS as featured in the below videos.

Random fight 1 (060412)

Random Fight 2 (060412)

The male Fs were everywhere and even caught one at this ..err...area.

Attached Image

This spot is also filled with other larger species of spiders which I had to be careful not to walk straight into.

Attached Image Attached Image

These are photos of how this place looked like:-

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

A Male FS between the leaves:-

When I reached home, the question on my mind was whether Kurt Angle had converted back to normal (as opposed to chop). Here is the answer:-

Kurt Angle (Top) V KJE Spar (Bottom) 060412

So I had a good exercise this morning and ready for Fs battle.

What is the diameter of M$0.50 coin? S$0.20 coin is 21.36 mm in diameter.

About 2.5 times longer than Giant Bu?

Can't quite remember the size as I released after catching it. Probably like a Singapore 50 cents coin, if I remember correctly.

The Cherating spider and the KJE one look similar yet have some physical differences.. Cherating one got more prominent Santa Clause like beard and both got nice " off-spring bearing bum". tongue.gif

Happy Easter to Everyone

Met up with Bro Rudy this morning to pick up money plant from Tanjong Rhu. Thereafter met Bro Ricky at NTU.

NTU was a FS dreamland for many kakis a few years ago and many of us were sad when they cut down almost all the CB trees to make way for the new road.

Recently, saw that they have planted baby CB trees.

Attached Image

Will we have a Fs revival in NTU?

The answer would be in the hunt and Bro Rudy took a few minutes to catch a good sized Fs at the baby CB trees. Hopefully the king-sized FS would return. rclxms.gif

Bro Ricky came with a new look team with new members like Sniper, Enigma, Dark Empire, Golbeza and Soul Calibre.

Bro Ricky besides hunting actively also had 1st class heavy weight backing of Mr Golden Hands , Bro Ken to catch and give him the biggest baddest FS.

My latest addition is Bommy-Knocker .

Once again, don't know why most of the fight video can't open at time of posting:-

Rudy's NTU Newly Caught (Top) V Randy's Bommy-Knocker (Bottom) 080412

Ricky's Sniper (Top) V Rudy's NTU Newly Caught (Bottom) 080412

Ricky's Enigma (Top) V Randy's Bacteria (Bottom) 080412

Rudy's Spar 1 (Left) V Ricky's Dark Empire (Right) 080412

Ricky's Enigma (Top) V Rudy's Spar 2 (Bottom) 080412

Ricky's Golbeza (Top) V Randy's Sheamus (Bottom) 080412

Ricky's Soul Calibre (Bottom) V Randy's Optometrist (Top) 080412

I did not really hunt today as I had body ache, running nose and sore throat since yesterday. I did not expect all of FS to be equally unwell as none had won at all....not even Optometrist who beat Wasabi last week.

Next is my most consistent performer Kurt Angle against the Fs with the most intimidating name, Skull Crusher.

Randy's Kurt Angle (Right) V Ricky's Skull Crusher (Left) 080412

Phew....just managed to escape losing all my fights sweat.gif

My team's poor run continue.....

Ricky's Golbeza (Right) V Randy's Lorax (Left) 080412

Surprise, surprise, we have 1 Piece again. This incredible Fs must have found the fountain of youth and the longest serving FS in Bro Rudy's team.

Ricky's Wasabi (Bottom) V Rudy's 1 Piece (Top) 080412

Ricky's Enigma (Right) V Rudy's Spar 1 (Left) 080412

Randy's Kurt Angle (Right) V Ricky's Sniper (Left) 080412 (Recommended: thumbup.gif )

Ah...finally a recommended fight.

......to be continued.

Yes, the spider Bro viper saw in Cherating is the same species as the biggest spider caught by Bro Randy. Also the same species as the one Bro Ricky gave me which he caught from Genting. All are in the same stage too...and the same sex. All are subadults male Hyllus Diardi. If Bro Randy took a frontal photo of the one he caught, you would see some Santa Clause beard too. Subadult males usually look fat because they tend to eat a lot and gorge themselves to prepare for the final moult to become the biggest they can be as an adult.

The new M$0.50 coin is 27.5mm and the old M$0.20 coin is 23 mm. I should think that when Bro Viper said that it is about 50 sen size, it should include the legspan.

Here are some interesting photos and comparison photos.

A sub adult I had.
Attached Image Attached Image
This is a sub-sub adult...2 moults to go before adult...more whitish areas.
Attached Image Attached Image
A comparison between a subadult and a sub-subadult. Both looks same size? That's because this was a big sub-subadult.
Attached Image
This sub-sub adult eventually moulted into the biggest H.diardi male I had...measuring in at 18mm body length.

A comparison with a 20 sen coin

Compare to one of the first photos of a adult male H.diardi to emerge on the net from here

Males usually have a wide range of sizes no matter how well they are fed. Some of them just mature early but small. Which I think it is to take advantage of available females to breed first. Here is a photo of the largest and smallest H.diardi males I had.

Wow, very interesting pictures. Thanks mindstorm. I have also seen some videos of this species in youtube. here's one example.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oRRBPdM6Wc&feature=relmfu

It is also interesting that the smaller FSes did not run away.

Can this species fight like our T Bha?

Thanks to Randy for posting all the new fights. How's on earth Ricky has so many new spiders?
Kurt Angle performed well again. Wasabi is quite fierce in its fight against 1-Piece.
The fight between Ricky's Golbeza (Right) V Randy's Lorax (Left) 080412 is also quite interesting. Both are quite big.

Hi Everyone

When I caught the Hyllus Diardi, first thought is a big big female. I was also scared to handle such a big spider fearing that it may bite. Once kena bite (if at all), cannot play spider anymore. tongue.gif

Thanks to Bro Mindstorm for posting so many cool photos showing a comparison between T Sub and our T Bha too.

How does Bro Ricky catch so many Fs???? Some-more all so big one leh...

Yes, I also want to know as the little I know is that he hunts more times per week than I buy underwear a year.

Here are some more pictures of that Hyllus Diardi.

Thanks Randy again. This set of videos is very exciting. Lots of fierce fights, chops, chasing, sommersaults.

1. Thanks goodness that Durax managed to escape.
2. Chow Yun Fatt is so fierce this time. Win still not happy until chased and threw Immortal Ku2 down.
3. Wow. Wasabi is even fiercer. See how it "graps" Chow YUn Fatt.
4. Golbeza is a strong fighter too.

The three strongest fighters now are probably Kurt Angle, 1-Piece and Wasabi.
So far has Kurt Angle fought against Wasabi?

Nice pics of H.diardi. REally HUGE spider especially the one u holding with t-sub and t-bha.
The one i saw in Cherating subadult size already gigantic spider size.. after molt to adult more bigger size.
Tempted to catch back as pet last time but i feel its better let it lives in its natural habitats there.

In the name of being gentleman, the male FS should 'lose' the fight with female FS but female FS will choose to mate the victorious male FS, obeying the laws of nature. Tough being a male FS! Ha ha.

Hi Everyone

That was a solid fight from Bro Seng. Will be arranging a fight with his Kings soon. rclxms.gif

I also wonder what the outcome would be if Lady Heather were to fight Kurt Angle. The only way to find out is to fight them:-

So, as suggested by Mojo2011, did Kurt Angle get to mate Lady Heather?

An earlier video posted by armortail73.

The FS sizes are quite big. Are they T Bha species? They look like the mangrove swamp species which was posted by mindstorm.

The 2 FSs look like T sub males. Their arms were long! and one of them a chopster.
