I really doubt the Civic will look like that (but secretly hope it is). If so Avante can seriously compete with the Civic. I didn't put Altis because I felt the target market would be different.

Hyundai delay the Avante because of the bad sales record for the current version. Most of the Malaysian when buying something, first they will look for the brand first, then only price, design....! Just take the current Sonata as an example, they said the sales is really good, but until now, I only saw 2 Sonatas, other than that none! I think Hyundai also don't want to disturb the Kia Forte sales, which currently doing pretty good for Korean car.

Seems like you guys not really understand how is the automotive market going, especially in Malaysia. Hyundai will not rushing to bring in the Avante just because of gorgeous look and a lot of people give good comments. They have to think how they can clear all the current Avante. And what is the price level the new Avante should be priced? RM100K, 90K, 80K??? If in between RM100K, Hyundai know they can't beat the Altis, Civic and Sylphy, don't even think about the Proton Inspira. If RM90K, it will be eating the Kia Forte current market which doesn't make any sense for Hyundai to do this, they better leave it that way as long as Kia Forte can get good sales. RM80K, no way, in this price range, they hardly can make profit out there so they will think twice whether really need to "hard sell" the Avante? And one more thing is the commitment for the Hyundai Korea, if Sime Darby really decide to launch the Avante, the Korean sure will need Sime Darby to commit certain quantity, which Sime Darby have to think twice.

I second that. The Sonata is not priced competitively to break into the D segment which is almost monopoly by Accord and Camry.
If they price the 1.8 Avante 10k cheaper than the 1.8 Civic, which one most people here will buy, very obvious is it.

Even 20k cheaper I would think twice. According to Paultan report, the new Avante has only 14.2km/L on the highway. That is very poor efficiency for a new car.

saw some avante review on youtube, leg room for rear is big enough, but head room might not be sufficient for tall ppl due to the shape design of the car (something like Gen2 rear seats la).. but our malaysian average height is not as tall as mat salleh, so maybe is not a big concern.. (the review was done in US)

Anyone knows if new car being launched (i mean the new avante) got any discount or not? Bcoz one SA posted saying got discount for some hyundai models. The current avante with RM11k discount, true o not???

Bro, the 22k is before road tax and insurance. The cheapest I got is only 79,888 all in.

hi cybermaster, yes i called the guy you mentioned. also aurelius inform me about this guy in cheras branch, today i went to his showroom confirm the price is 80888 + insurance + free gps for the whole package. sound a good deal? idk u guys tell me?

by the way ss2 branch offer is 80388, not 80300, the SA very frank and told me that he slash half of his comm to give me this deal of 80388, the price is actually 80888 same as cheras branch and that their comm is 1k. true or not? again idk lah.....

her are the things i gather:
1) ss2 branch, RM80388 OTR (no free gift) 15 units black color left, limited silver and sapphire silver (dont know how many left but very limited)
2) cheras branch, RM80888 OTR (free gps system) few units black, 1 unit sapphire grey only
3) puchong branch, RM81888 OTR (no free gift) only black and sapphire in stock

all branch SA seem to provide good service, atleast this is how i feel after meeting them la... whoever want their contacts can always pm me last but not least, i think avante is the way if anyone is looking for comfort and have a slightly tight budget, when i test drive avante, i feel like driving a luxury car, something like driving a sylphy but at 25k less price
