Engine for the 1.6 Avante will be the same as Forte 1.6. That's the nearest I can say. It is just in term of looks, Avante looks better... smile.gif
Be a part of the new revolution of cars la. The Forte was an eye opener for us Malaysians for sure but a 2nd eye opener (and better) is coming in the form of the Avante. Dont be a part of the past. Be a part of the future.

Hehehe... bro CM98.... I know what you meant, but I really can't wait. My friend who is working in SD ask me to consider this KIA Forte. smile.gif
4 years down the road, my aim will be the tucson... smile.gif
Have u already got the Forte? What color? Interest rate? Price? 1.6 or 2.0? 6 Speed rite?

4 yrs later u still wanna target Tuscon? No need la. Will have more choice then.

Bro sonyman. Things will change. Even though with no additional goodies, avante is still a great car. Proven by current avante. U try google avante problem in malaysia. Surprisingly no complaint... smile.gif I opt for forte instantly after my friend who work in Sime encourage me to get Kia forte. And I know the 1.6 variant going to be the same in terms of engine and gearbox. If I were to wait for avante, no guarantee sep will get car and if delay to oct or nov, the car will have 2mths to go to be consider a year car. Now my thinking is, why not enjoy Forte first since the driving experience is different from last time. And with many forte on the road, the second hand value shouldn't be that bad(better than other korean car a bit)... My assumption only la...

But why go for white?? Thats among the most difficult colors to maintain.

itu CKD, CBU lain cerita
Thats all salesman talk. Nowadays the CKD's are just as good. In the case of the Mazda3 CKD which was just launched today, they maintained all the same specs as the CBU model but brought down the price by about RM 11,000. On top of that Bermaz is offering discounts of RM3,000 and 3 years free road tax & free service. This will surely bring down the resale value of the CBU models further.

CKD Pricing : Mazda 3 1.6L Sedan @ 102K OTR with insurance.
Mazda 3 1.6L HB @ 107K OTR with insurance.

Mazda 3 2.0L Sedan @ 122K OTR with insurance.
Mazda 3 2.0L HB @ 133K OTR with insurance.

I went to see the forte 2.0 face lift..impressed with the car..
Mazda 3 2.0 I've been dreaming to own it since launch..
now waiting to see this avante..

avante vs forte 2.0 vs m3 2.0..
The upcoming Avante looks just as good as the Mazda3. The major difference would be the 6 speed auto gearbox and the ample rear legroom on the Avante. The Mazda3 is cramped at the rear and gives the impression that the car is small. Plus the steering column looks very cluttered. You wont find these issues on the Avante.

If they can price the Avante affordably then its a sure winner.

should price start at 99k.
new mazda ckd is from 99k, they have to price better than that
Yes good thing they launched the Mazda3 CKD and the Kia Forte FL now. That should put more pressure on Hyundai to keep their prices low. But still very uncertain.

An agent just told my friend that Avante 2011 is coming in at September 2011.

Pre-booking can be done by July..

Price will be 77K for 1.6, 87K for 1.8 and 103K for 2.0
Price is w/o insurance..

Not so sure how true is it..

If its true then its gonna be damn competitive for other brands..
If the prices above was OTR then it would be competitive. But since its not, then it might be too expensive. The Avante's nearest competitor would be the Forte and the 2.0L version is going for around RM98K only which will be about RM10K cheaper than the Avante.

That is some serious flaw dude. How can they even allow that to happen? After reading your post I have second thoughts on recommending this car to my friends.

so 80kSGD?
so it is like 80k x 2.3 or 2.4? = MYR?

What's the point of doing a currency conversation? You only do a conversion if you are a tourist or you are buying something in a foreign country and bringing it over. Other than that compare it dollar for dollar.

Definitely, this car must price on par to Altis and civic already..
sg forum got discuss bout their price range.. coz it is in sg dy..

Of course i know that. But dont use Singapore price and then convert it to RM and then claim the car price will be something cuz it doesnt follow that at all.

If the price is around RM85K for 1.8, then it really a good buy, probably can kill the Forte sales as well.
*
Surely wont be around 85K for 1.8L. Hyundai always prices their cars more expensive. See wht they did with the Sonata.

Yaya left side driver version. Salesman told me most probably we will get same spec with Singapore Version. All still dunno yet... If I have any info i will post up here. Anybody intrested to see tehe Elantra can PM me.. i can arrange for you to see at Glenmarie.
*
This is the same car that was on display during KLIMS 2010. I spent about 1 hour sitting in all the seats and admiring the car from the outside. I think it will be a great buy if the specs are good and pricing kept competitive.

Dunno why they bother launching cars that late in the year. If u get the car registered by end Oct or early Nov, then in 2 months time, your car is already 1 year old. Damn! Might as well wait till Jan or Feb 2012.

Should have traded in your stock tyres for Michelin. Very quiet and good wet weather road holding.

if 1.8 is less than 100k.. no need to think about civic anymore..
place my booking on the spot!
Either way i think the new Civic is crap. The design has gone backward instead of forward. The newly launched car received very poor ratings in US while the top rated car there was the Hyundai Elantra. Now i just saw some pics of the upcoming Camry which is very disappointing as well. Although its the US Hybrid version but it wont change much for our Malaysian model.

So now both Toyota and Honda have screwed up their business by releasing these crap models. What choice do any of us have? Despite being a Toyota supporter for the past 8 yrs, i think i may have to look elsewhere when i change my Vios early next year.

i totally agree with you.. honda and toyota have disappoint in the last year or so..
but for the elantra i don't think we are getting the US version in malaysia..
and i heard the engine is different as well? not the GDI?
in malaysia, a honda is still a honda and a toyota is a toyota.. the market will still go for these 2 brands..
if the pricing for elantra is just a few k below a civic.. i'd rather get a civic..
Well surely! No matter how ugly Toyota or Honda gets, im sure their sales will still be high. But this time it will be different. Their sales will drop. Before this, both Honda & Toyota did well with their Civic and Camry respectively. But now both these cars might come out looking outdated which will surely affect sales since Malaysians now have the option of the Forte, Optima, Sonata and Elantra. The Japs are gonna get whacked nice and hard for their reluctance to move with the times.

The Koreans need to improve on their after sales service especially in Malaysia. They can have the best designed cars with the latest specs but after sales service is something Malaysians hold dearly to in addition to resale value.
