Congrats bro!

I think mine also like yours, the touchpad doesn't seems flat.  hmm.gif

So, do you play games?  brows.gif

You also have the same touchpad uneven problem. It sound like a quality issue then. I thought Japanese is very particular about their product quality.

Seldom play game. I am a WWII fan. So my fav is Sudden-Strike!

Anybody did the creation of Recovery Media before? If I use an USB flash-drive for this, how big the size do I need? 8GB or 16GB?

E-14P and S-series is quite close in term of price point mainly because E-14P comes with a higher resolution screen and slightly bigger max memory support(up to 16GB). Other than that S-series win it flat-out, as shown below:
1. Processor. S-series is with the latest Ivy-Bridge Core i5 processors. E-series is based on older 2nd gen i5.
2. GPU. As Amal mentioned, S-Series equipped with a "dragon" GPU, nVidia!!
3. Battery. S-series is with more durable and higher capacity Polymer Li-ion battery pack.
4. Lightweight. S-series is 30% lighter.
5. Build. S-series is solid build.
6. Design. S-series is more professional looks.
7. Vaio+ display. More friendly to your eye on long hours use.

Anybody care to add more?! nod.gif

My S-series is fixed price at rm3299. I got extra gifts : Buffalo 500gb Ministation USB Hdd + Sony Audio Headset + 4GB Ram upgrade + 2nd year warranty(dealer) + Sony premium gift-set + Sony notebook bag. Thats all.

Rhoel, You "eat" memory!! Then you need to go down to Singapore to get the bigger 8GB SODIMM.

If not mistaken, these freebies are only given during PC Fair. Thats what the dealer sales-guy told me. Either I take it or leave it and regret later!

I was also considering a Macbook Pro. But some how this sales guy managed to convince me it was a great deal to be ignored. Especially the +1 year warranty. At least peace of mind for 2 years!

Hi all, I've been looking around for a new laptop and from my research it looks like the Vaio S Premium fits my requirements: 1.67kg, matte screen with 1600 x 900 resolution, powerful processor and discrete graphics card. DVD drive is a bonus.

What I don't quite understand is why there seems to be a sentiment that Vaio notebooks are overpriced. Perhaps this was true before? But looking at the current Vaio S Premium, the price looks quite reasonable for its specs compared to other 13"/14" notebooks. I had a look at the latest Dell XPS 14" Ultrabook (which is closest in specs to the Vaio S Premium) and the price difference isn't very far off if you spec them as close as possible.

Am I missing something?

My only gripe with the Vaio S is the HDD (5400rpm?). Will shops in KL allow me to exchange the stock 750GB HDD with a SSD, with me topping up the difference in price?

During the warranty period, it's better that you don't change the HDD , later they will say you temper the laptop and void your warranty. I change everything when my sony vaio warranty period gone laugh.gif

You may change the HDD, but you have to keep the original HDD for warranty purpose.
Coz I did. biggrin.gif

Hi guys, I'm thinking about getting a VAIO E-series 14P. Just have two questions:

1. Is the TFT display HD?
2. How is the after sales service like at Sony Centre? Fast/slow? And what does the warranty cover?

Update me also when you found one. I am also interested. It will be good to get one of those color one that come std with a E14P. But not sure if it will fit nicely to our S13?

Just made a short simple video comparing a stock GT640M LE(500MHz) vs BIOS MOD GT640M LE(1000MHz) running NFS SHIFT 2.
100% OC on GPU!
But bottlenecked by the slow DDR3. tongue.gif

Temp only increased around 4 celsius in gaming, 6 celsius in stress test from stock (still within the safe range).

Different games will definitely get different results.
Performance increased in gaming is about 40% to 70%, depending on what game.

It is like having a lightweight(1.67kg-1.72kg) and portable(13.3 inch) laptop with a GT650M DDR3 GPU performance. thumbup.gif

Sorry for the bad camera phone quality. tongue.gif

Hi TS,

Pls add me into your users list. I am a Sony Laptop User here. Model VGN-TZ17GN B.

Using this laptop is awesome.. Even though is an ultra portable C2D U7600 1.2GHz and cannot fight with newer Sony laptops but it has been loyal to me. No hiccups or breakdown.. icon_rolleyes.gif

kudos to TZ17GN model.. tongue.gif
