1. The original length of the jacket is better than what you made them pin up. The pinned up side looks comically short. The ideal length would be in between.

2. I can cut better sleeves than those. The sleeves were cut for a very curved arm which is pitched forwards (like some chekai bodybuilder who does lots of bicep curls without tricep extensions, and lots of bench presses without overhead presses). You have straight arms which are pitched backwards.

Unfortunately, I suspect the cutter is not good enough to get the sleeves right. I would be very surprised if he manages to clean it up by the next fitting.

3. The waist is supressed the wrong way.

4. I leave you with pictures of an uncommonly successful first fitting this past Saturday.

Hmm... the arms huh. I'll let them fix the shoulder and see how it turns out in the second fitting.

Noted on the length, will try in between and see how it goes.

As for that Sat Alt fitting... was that the Project Manager package?

MeToo, can you describe your cutter at Wardrobe? What kind of a person, the sort of impression he makes, qualifications, etc? I'm interested in these things.

First fitting session at Wardrobe last Saturday.
Single breasted 2 buttons, non-vent, 3 piece, SLIM fit.
Peak lapels, flat front trousers.

1. Knee area a tad wide, gonna slim it down abit.
2. Not sure if I'm happy with the pants length, but if i shorten it anymore, I'm gonna need really high socks when sitting down.
3. They will clean up the back of the pants, maybe my ass aint perky enough. shrug.
4. Knows nuts about the vest, probably will hardly use it.
5. Will shorten the jacket abit (pinned up in the photo).
6. Rigth sleeve a tad too short, but that will change as they fix the shoulder.
7. Sleeve too loose/wide, right hand pinned up to reflect changes.
8. Shoulder way too wide, will fix.
9. Shoulder pads from an initial SIX, reduced to 3 (after MUCH argument), think will move to 2 after they fix the shoulder.
10. Overall body too wide, will reduce width.

Any comments appreciated!  notworthy.gif

Dude, that basted fitting is a mess. The back panel being the biggest culprit.

Added on August 30, 2011, 1:59 pmYou need side vents, please.

Well... they do all their cutting etc at the "factory". They do have "master tailors" (a few late 40s/early 50s guy) who does all the front line stuff interacting with the customer. You can drop by to grill them to your heart's content, preferably during my 2nd fitting tongue.gif

Yeah.. they kinda supersized it for me, too many pins for the first fitting, let see if they fixed it for the 2nd.

As for vent,.... this will be my first non-vented, so ya.. lets hope it works out.

I suppose ventless is more classic italian, and i find that it's cleaner/more streamline look for the jacket.

Also i do not find that i need a vented jacket as i dont put my hands in my pocket and i dont plan on riding any horses with the jacket on. At the end of the equation, it comes down to personal preference.

I saw this chekai Chinese guy in his 40s who was proofing a pattern he drafted himself at their concession stand at Pavilion. Except that he seemed to take forever and didn't seem particularly sure of himself. He said sometimes the pattern is relegated to the factory and sometimes he drafts it himself. He did it on tracing paper, which was very thin.

When is your second fitting?

Added on September 2, 2011, 9:28 pmContrast this to Ron, who drafted a jacket directly on cloth while telling me why he hates Wardrobe! That's the way it should be!

dear sifus,

how many fittings is it usually for bespoke suit?

I went to a tailor and he quoted me RM1,600 with one fitting only.

I thought with custom made suit needs many fittings to get it right? The tailor said other tailors are idiots... lol..

I scared the quality not gonna be great since he said can finish in one week only... RM1,600 not exactly cheap. (normal Italian wool)... with Zegna cloth he quoted RM8k minimum

If your tailor is a master fitter, one fitting is all it takes. If in doubt, ask for two.
If he tells you your suit will be ready in 3 months, does it make the suit superior in quality? Time to complete a suit is not indicative of the finish (although I'd avoid those 24hr tailors).
