QUOTE(kneok @ Aug 24 2011, 12:15 PM) i'm confused because in the article it says KFH not KFW. Well we'd know why his suits are so slow to siap. Probably worrying about no longer having a shop. How much does ALT charge for a suit nowadays? I have yet to make my navy SB and may just take the plunge there Look at the signboard on his shop... it clearly says KFW. And dont worry about his shop, its saved. This post has been edited by MeToo: Aug 24 2011, 02:34 PM

Dirty, inhospitable, chock-full of traffic, and full of foreign workers. A goddamned slum. I was hoping they would clear the area and rebuild a new, modern Chinatown -- one that is architecturally inspired by the old but which has much higher urban values and which people would go to like they would to any shopping mall or townships like Solaris and actually enjoy the experience. Essentially like the way OldTown has shown us how the modern Malaysian Chinese coffeeshop should look and feel like. the more i look at these pictures, the more i feel like this is going to be a rather expensive tuition fee. comment away, guys. for what it's worth: i'm 173cm tall, weight about 71kg currently.
by the way, please ignore that shiny looking thing in the picture. i believe that's the camera strap. only noticed it when i was resizing the pictures just now. shoulders will be extended 0.25" on both sides (there were divots on the sleeveheads, left side more apparent than the right), shoulder padding will be reduced to a bare minimum, sleeves will be loosened up a bit. AL seems to think that the jacket is too waisted (compared to my 'broad' shoulders), so he will undo the darts a bit. will also let out a bit more at the lower back so that it falls a bit more vertically. pants? they seemed like the right length and they're comfortable even when i'm sitting (family jewels have adequate room), but i'm not too happy with how they look from the back. AL says the pants won't fall nicely but they will be comfortable to sit in. if i wanted the pants to have a clean straight look when i stand up, then they won't be comfortable when i sit in them. what do you all think? What have you guys been tweaking before this? This suit looks like it is in the first fitting stage, not final fitting.

There is also a widespread perception that pleats have no place in trousers. Nobody asks for pleated trousers anymore. Me, I can't get enough of them pleats.

we were tweaking the shoulders (deltoids seemed to portrude too much), the shape of the lower back (which was following my lumbar curve a lot), and trying to make it a waisted jacket. sleeves seemed okay.
big mistake with the pants was that i didn't address the back balance on the first fitting session (i was in a rush). next thing i knew, the pants were ready. AL seems adamant that the pants cannot be changed anymore.
bigger mistake was probably i didn't have another pair of trained eyes to help me in this whole endeavor.
Added on August 25, 2011, 8:07 amby the way, can you please describe what entails in the final stages of fitting, kotmj?

I kind of put back my desire to make another suit for awhile, i made two suits in the two months and worried that i was addicted. lol. now i think the time is right to make a new one, so i'm still looking. Haven't been to that tailor you suggested though. the pieces at sartorialist bangsar look very nice and modern, but there's a sinking feeling i cant put my finger on at that shop. not sure. My ideal of the final fitting is I put on the jacket and I look and I peer and I scrutinize myself in the mirror and I can find no fault. Every issue from the previous fitting has been addressed. Then to jack up AL's blood pressure I say I want a 3 button after all, not one button. Then I say I was kidding. Then I leave the shop and have a nice dim sum breakfast.

Dude, I don't even know you. You just crawled out of the woodwork yesterday.
However I will be at ALT this Saturday with someone else. Do join us if you are free. I will PM you the time once it is semi-firm. However, you need to tell him to implement all the changes he intends to before our appointment on Saturday. I will be very disappointed if I see the same jacket.

just crawled out of the woodwork is quite apt. sorry for imposing on you, but thanks a lot for accommodating me.
i'll call AL tomorrow and ask him to implement those changes. he won't be too pleased about it, that's for sure.
