Apparently, the Uniqlo here would be the biggest in SEA. So they should have some suits..But I don't think they would be cheap.

From what i see in the S'pore shop pictures. There isn't any. If the stocks there would reflect here, i think there won't be any. But then again they might bring in to clear stocks. Or they fat forward autumm/ winter line. Seriously i can't think of a street wear going all straight edge as easily.

Uniqlo has wool suits going for roughly RM420 where I am. Very worth the money but alas sleeves are too short on me.

Looking for suits under RM 600. Is it a plausible budget?
Any brand recommendations? Looking for a more contemporary looking one. 17 this year, and it's going to be my first smile.gif

Why would you need a suit at 17? That aside, you wouldn't want to make the mistake many of us made with a first suit. That means making an ill-informed purchase of an ill-fitting suit probably with gaudy detailing.

I know you're thinking Topman or Zara but if the suit is not that urgent, maybe you should look around the internet more to develop your taste in suits (because they will definitely change once you've seen 100 suits). If you're close to sample size like me, buying a suit off the rack wouldn't be as bad as some people say they are. biggrin.gif

Yes, RM600+/- is do-able. Padini's cuts are getting quite slim nowadays, but less 'contemporary' than Topman. Zara is like the classier version of both. There are other brands like Domanchi, TSS, and shops selling low quality but very 'korean cut' suits.

I saw that KLCC branch wan, there is no 2 row button wan. All 1 row 2 button or 3 button. Got choice regular or slim cut. Got short and tall also. Pants from size 28 to 44 also got mang. The price cannot talk talk from RM499 above. Plus pants pay close close to RM700 liao. Veli OK for brand from UK like Topman. Topman also pay same money, but lesser cloth. They got thick thick guni sack cloth, in brown and and little arrow shape cloth one. U don wan la. That one old style wan. Only uncle buy only.

Haha, erm, too many bourgeoisie functions gone pass me without dressing up, need to learn how to dress well.
Plus, prom is somewhere around the corner, so I guess I should *invest* in one first.
I'll check out the 3 shops Padini, Topman and Zara first.

Urgent? well, prom is end of this month.
I guess I'll buy my first one off the rack first.

Points to ponder:

You're 17. You are not 100% sure whether you will grow anymore. Whether vertically or horizontally.
You might grow a belly in college. Or you might decide to hit the gym.

My advice is, better not invest in a suit thinking it will be a long term investment, for now. Instead, go for something that is decent, but still affordable enough, relative to your financial status.

My DB fits like that.

Man, I discovered a fantastic store. Imagine a shop that has no delusions about out being able to specify products. A shop that merely looks at what is being made by a variety of companies around the world. And which then sets about to buy the best.

The best here does not mean the most luxurious (Hermes) or branded (Dunhill, EZ). The best in the sense of unparalled quality and design values at realistic prices. Stuff that I, too, would buy.

And to do this for almost every category of product from kichenware to bicycles to stationary to clothes and footwear.

The thickest suit hangers around. Shoe horns made of real buffalo horns. Fully-canvassed tweed and linen jackets by Regent. Raincoats by Macintosh. Burgol shoe waxes. Albert Thurston braces. Mauviel copper pans. De Buyer iron pans. Japanese handmade saws. Handmade genuine French soaps.

I'm going there again tomorrow to buy someone a bar of soap.

padini suck lah...local brand but xpensiv.....buy topman better...more fashion

Not expensive at all actually. RM 399 for the suit. overall RM650.

I tried Topman but their craftsmanship suck, threads coming off here and there, materials less comfortable and thin.
Fashionable, but quality isn't there. I reckon it'll tear apart after a year. Not that it's any cheaper, a little more expensive than Padini in fact. wink.gif

Just not willing to trade so much substance for a little more style.

Am happy with mine smile.gif Websites helped a little, choosing buttons, length of sleeves, vents, lapels... etc.
All've been put to practical! flex.gif

There is a Fabric Market in Shanghai. Many, many cloth shops and tailors. Cashmeres abound, as do Super 150s for small change. There may be Lora Piana, Scabel, Holand & Sherry and such to be found.
