Purple Cane is having members sale from 18% to 35% until 04/05/2011. According to them, member sale is only once a year. For normal days, they will only give 5% to 20% discount for members.

They tried to promote Meng Qing Round Tea raw puerh. They said though it is 2008, but it is specially stored to let it age faster. I gave it a try. Colour of the tea looks like age tea, but I don't like it cause it has obvious Wet stored and the Storage ('chang') smell. Tasted geli to me. Wasn't feeling comfortable at my throat. Usual price RM250. Promo price RM125 /beeng. If buy 1 toong = RM700. No thank you...

But I couldn't resist and eventually bought this...

2 years back is 55% discount if not mistaken. Really worth it when buying teapot. That time already tasted the Meng Qing tea and immediately can tell it undergone mild wet storage. I ask the sales girl about the storage location and she said Hong Kong.

I hope you enjoy them, I bought the same set 2 years ago in the Purple Cane chinatown shop, they did not let me taste them, I should have tried them at the Shaw Parade HQ shop. Sadly I was disappointed with them - drinkable, enjoyable enough at the time of drinking but overpriced for what I assume to be youngish plantation versions of the Si Da Ming Cha.

The packaging seemed nice at the time, but most of my favourite versions of these purchased in KL come from large canisters packaged for you at the time of purchase.

I highly recommend Jing Dian Tea House in Bukit Bintang (No. 50m Tengkat Tong Shin) but if you like your Oolong sless roasted then make sure you tell them before they offer you one to try for Teamaster L M Chong is famous for the number of hours she spends over the roasting pans. Luckily for you she has started to ease up on the roasting in the last few years, the photos I took of her when seen by my friends back in Chinatown said she looked younger now she was roasting less heavily!

Any of you guys been to Jing Dian Tea House? Seems like famous for Oolong

i buy one for testing only... not yet open it. i buy it because wan to compare with other tea, i also first time buy this brand. dont know if it is good.

yesterday i taste this brand ripe @ yong heng xiang, 2010, the "wo dui wei" heavy, cannot take it. so i did not buy.

i like the phase "drink ripe tea, keep raw tea, taste old tea". if i buy ripe tea still have to wait ...very sienz lor shakehead.gif so far i still like de "da cha" 2005 ripe. have not drink any better than that yet.

Unless you know Yong Heng Xiang well, their price is chop head for new timers.

Lao Chan (Kepong) is associated with them. I think relative biz. Their stocks are quite similar. Price wise much cheaper / less cut throat. Unfortunately, they have been away for a while. I passed by 2 days ago, but they are still not open.

Btw, how much is that raw you bought?

If you got chance, try Dayi Dragon Pole. I remember it was good. Very creamy. But that was so long ago since I last tried...
