Anyone know what type of tea that they use for Taiwanese milk tea? Our local one like lipton/boh don't taste like it. Search for online recipe, most said black tea. But lipton/boh = black tea?

Search for online recipe, most said black tea. But lipton/boh = black tea? The standard Lipton/Boh tea we can get at the supermarkets is quite astringent (hokkien word is "siap") and a little bitter. The tea they use for Taiwanese milk tea is smoother with less astringency. You can try using the slightly pricier, better black teas from Dilmah, Marks and Spencer etc. Don't steep the tea leaves/bag for too long, it will become more astringent. 3 mins is enough. |

QUOTE(SmokeyTheBear @ Sep 24 2020, 11:15 PM) I bought this Pu-er tea online. Small tea bricks, each brick can be broken into about 3~4 servings. I didn't expect 500g to be a lot of bricks! I'm the only one who drinks Chinese tea at home, don't think I can finish it in a year. If any tea lover wants some I can send 200~300g to you. West Malayisa only, otherwise I don't think it's worth the cost to send. You can reimburse me the postage through Grabpay etc., but it's free otherwise. eidt: Thanks SmokeyTheBear for passing me some of the tea This post has been edited by buffa: Dec 7 2020, 12:43 PM |

Hello, does anyone know any supplier for Chinese tea?
Any suggestion of the brand for Tie Guan Yin or Oolong tea? This post has been edited by SPT_Penang: Mar 21 2021, 08:32 PM |

QUOTE(PropPowerRanger @ Aug 27 2021, 10:57 PM) One brand that is easy to find locally and good is Harada Green Tea. One box of 50 tea bags is around RM 20~24. It's pretty strong green tea compared to other brands which I find too mild. There's also Jasmine Green Tea and Brown Rice Green Tea variants, but I still prefer the original. This is Made in Japan, but I saw a cheaper Made in Vietnam/China version in Giant, make sure you get the correct one. PropPowerRanger liked this post
