I don't think the board needs to pile more pressure on Arsene, the gaffer himself is his worst critic and it's evident that he's the most stressed out whenever results don't go our way. After all, Arsenal losing Arsene is more destructive than Arsene losing Arsenal. As for Gazi's role, what I'm hoping to see is him marketing our brand to a larger scale. Peter Kenyon did well for both MU and Chelsea, regardless of how much money they've spent to begin with.
*
arsene may be critical of himself because things didn't work out during the match, but perhaps his holding on to his methods to the point of being stubborn. and hence why i'm saying that if suddenly he had to deliver at least 1 trophy within the next 2 years, there may be some urgency to make some adjustments to his wengerball philosophy. i may be alone in this, but while i feel that wengerball is good, there are aspects that i feel that could be changed / tweaked which would really make arsenal to the next level... in my personal opinion lah.. i'm no manager so i don't expect wenger to start calling my mobile anytime soon... =)

QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Apr 16 2010, 04:50 AM)
Our performances after the new year hasn't been the greatest but we've been playing without half of our first 11 most of the time, and yet still being able to sustain a title challenge until now. That alone, is a great achievement and huge improvement compared to last season. The excuse of injury is old, but this season we have been hit the hardest compared to previous ones but our results have been better; does this not signify the maturation and progress of our club? Yes it does. Don't forget before the start of the season people are predicting us to drop out of the top 4, but Liverpool, not us, are in that situation... and our 3rd spot is almost secured as long as we don't drop more points in a careless manner.
*
like i said to toshio14, i feel that our sustained challenge has been due to the top clubs all not performing consistently, and the fact that we're still in contention may have led many to overlook the flaws of this current team and perhaps even the players to think that they're actually doing ok. i'm not downplaying the injuries that we've had, but i think every team has to deal with it... everton lost their entire strike squad last season to a point where cahill had to play striker, but they dealt with it, so i feel that arsenal should be doing the same. and again, even our second stringers i believe should be able to play better....i mean, rosicky used to strike the ball from distance and had a awesome strike as well, but he hasn't been doing that since he came back from injury. denilson doesn't take shots as well, neither does diaby... the 3 things that i highlighted that arsenal have forgotten how to do since our great start to the season (probably only until RVP came back against the spuds (i originally posted this after the NLD):

having said all that, i'm not saying that this arsenal team is totally crap lah. there's much potential and i do believe that we have improved this season, especially with the mental side of things where we don't just roll over and die when we are losing. i just feel that they had SO much more to offer and they didn't perform to the best of their potential...

hmm.gif nasri instead of denilson?i know denilson's performance wasn't up to par but isn't he the reason cesc can roam freely upfront?and nasri supposed to be cesc substitute.

but for the sake of the tshirt,i'll be happy to see nasri's face instead of denilson.tongue.gif

AW trying to develop his skills of taking on defenders but things didnt go too well... sweat.gif Actually he grew up as a striker tho.

Saw an article about Milan Lab on this month FourFourTwo issue and it's so damn impressive that i wish we'd have such thing in the future. The 'co-founder' has followed Ancelotti to Chelsea and that may the reason why their oldies still firing all cylinders this season..

Yes true, things still didn't go well, but too me Walcott is still too small to become a striker, lets see what will happen when he face Ferdinand and Vidic, no way he gonna past easily imo, but with the pace he got, there's percent he can pass them.

Plus, Walcott still need to improve his confidence and composure in front of goal and be very good in placing the ball into the net. When played as right wing, he always look to pass the ball to the striker rather than give a shot to the goal when there's a possibility to score, and mostly they miss the chances.

Do you guys think Arsenal is really gonna buy some players to improve on next season ?
Or they will just do what they did for the pass 5 years (Buying unknown younster on age 15-19 and rely on current young players) ?

Btw, Liverpool is up for sale now ?
