Something to ponder:

Arshavin 08/09 season (Jan to May):
15 App 6 goals 9 assists

Bendtner 09/10 since returning to injury in late Jan:
16 App 9 goals 4 assists and still counting

Maybe this is why Arsene didn't go for any other striker in Jan. Or maybe Jan was used to secure Chamakh instead.
This is not to argue whether Nik is a better player than Andy as the latter has already proven himself as a more established veteran, but rather highlight how Nik is possibly the best 3rd choice central striker in the EPL.

I think NB52 is going strength to strength. He'll be the top choice striker next season, providing if he continues to work hard and don't suffer any major injury. Look at RVP in his early days and what he is now. With the addition of Chamakh(hopefully), we'll have an array of striking talents. But we'll still need strenthening in the central midfield coz Song no doubt is good, but he'll need to be more consistent and a decent back up would be nice. But defence would be something we should concentrate. Get a freaking good central defender as a back up to Gallas and Vermaelen.

agree we need a good CB as backup to Gallas and Vermalean,so no need for Song to play as CB when those two out injured cuz imo Song is better as DM not CB,anyway we really in need for good striker with proven goal scoring ability, cuz sometimes it looks like very hard to score even a single goal as Bendtner not consistent enough while RVP will most likely gets injured again somehow, this is for next season but i bet Wenger not reading this forum eh?so let us just hope...

We just have to wait for tonight matches, crucial for both teams and the title. I'm not expecting Chelsea to drop point if Spurs played like they did against us cause it's not the best performance but I'm hoping it will be entertaining match. Somehow I will have to cheer for Spurs tonight, lol

Assuming that Chamakh is coming, I don't think he will walk into the CF position like how Bak & Vermy made RB/CB their own. It's not easy adapting to the Arsenal way of playing, and even a player as talented as Robin took some time before he started to find his feet.

Nik is scoring more than Robin did in his early days, but they were playing in different positions to begin with. As much as I like Nik as a player, he will not replace Robin in CF next season as long as Robin is fit. Now the latter, is something we all look forward to.

JD was supposed to be the backup to Gallas/Vermy but we all knew what happened. It will not be easy to find a quality defender who is willing to play second or even third fiddle to our starting defenders, the chances of established players like Hangelaand coming to warm the bench is unfathomable. Therefore the quest to secure Gallas's signature is the most important, and then ensure that uncle Sol stays with us for another season in case JD doesn't recover/suffer from recurrent injuries/unable to pick up his form. For Uncle Mik, sorry to say that if he leaves we won't lose much.

I got a feeling Gallas won't sign extension unless he's offered 2years. I mean i don't have a problem with that if he decides he want to leave.

Now, the question is, Sol Campbell. His display against the Spurs was something to be admired. I know 1 game doesn't make him a hero but we certainly could use his spirit and passion. I say give him another year and he'll gladly sign it.

Almunia... well... i really think it's the end of the road for him. Lukasz... we just don't know. do we take another 1 year of painful development from him and risk our chances yet again? I think Mannone is a decent keeper IF we got a solid defense and a solid DM in front of him. I rated him higher than Lukasz actually. W.Schezny? Well, i'd like him to stay another season with Brentford and if Brentford makes it to Playoff in the Championship, then we should recall him and send Lukasz there instead. hehehe.. smile.gif

our main concerns should be GK and CB/DM. Someone like Song will be good enough signing. Versatile, can be CB/DM. I believe Djourou will be ok next season. Call up Havard for back up. If Sol stays, I think we'll have good enough cover already. if Gallas stays, then the better it will be.

Striker? did u guys even see how RVP was last Wednesday? thumbup.gif
