not to mention that you have to spend alot of cash to buy booster.

i wasted more then rm5000 on the real magic card game sweat.gif

Weekend deal:

1. Supreme Commander 2, 50% off, now at USD10.99
2. Shattered Horizon, 50% off, now at USD9.99

Ah so tempting! Actually now I'm in the midst of playing the first Supreme Commander. Completed UEF campaign, now playing Illuminate, still got Cybrans and Forged Alliance to go.
Still got a few days to think before this offer expires. smile.gif

If you're expecting more of the same gameplay in SupCom 2, prepare to be disappointed. They pretty much simplified the whole thing to the point that SupCom 2 now comes off as another generic RTS.

Thinking of Shattered Horizon though. smile.gif

Don't get me wrong. It is a decent enough game for most part.

But the core economy mechanics from TA/SupCom is gone. Instead of net mass/production, you have to pay upfront the cost for each units. (yes, for every unit you queue, ala Starcraft). No more spending more than your economy can handle.

Remember the good times when we used to line up power plants next to shield gens/Land factory/etc? Gone. No more adjacency bonus.

Tier 1,2,3 units? Nope. Each faction now gets a generic tank, aircraft, boat with incremental upgrades. Massive experimentals? Heh, now experimentals are cheap and you can spam them! sweat.gif

Yeah. Not the game I expected.

I saw the patching and support of the game is pretty decent,IMO.

Everyone who hates the game i saw pretty much say the same thing as you mentioned.

I guess, when it comes to sequels these days, we dont expect it to the same as the predecessor. If not, disappointment is all you got.

Same thing happen to DoW2, but im used to the new game now,and it's still fun if i dont look at it with CoH or DoW1's mentality.

Heh, well, that's true. That said, I heard many that also enjoyed the simplified mechanics. So it isn't THAT bad. Just not what I expected.

I tried the demo, and yea, im disappointed with the base building and some aspects of it. I still think it's a decent game at the end of the day.

Could be a much better game, but GPG stuff it up. Just like DoW2.

Just get it.

I played the solo and I found it quite lacking.

Missions are too easy (except one or two), last about 1 hour max and the story telling is pretty awful.
New economy system really take out the whole SupCom feeling

I never touched the MP but I know that at release they had some big balance issues (basically gunships were unstoppable) and I think some of them are still present (Commander early rushes are too powerful etc.) but yar, it seems they are at least trying to balance things out and they did came out with quite a few patches.

Having such a recent game at 20usd normal price and with a 50% sales so soon does show the sales must not have been that awesome and I can see reasons to that.

For me it went to a "great game" in SupCom1 to a "RtsYouPlayFewHoursThenForget#78593" in SupCom2

Price is cheap and if you have few people for Vs/MP or are still ok with a more casual SP, I think it can keep you busy for a few hours
At least they games are much faster than SupCom1 which makes MP more possible

Thats true, the sudden drop in price just tells us that it is not doing well since release. Even CR is doing much better than Sup Com 2.

Sup Com 2 seem have done worse than DiRT2.

Better think properly first. Considering the fact that i have SC2 in less than 2 months time.

Getting even 20 hours from Sup Com 2 would be hard.

More like the "adult" version of CoH.

It's much tougher, and much more realistic. It's a good game,to be honest,if you got a lot of time.

Yep, as Cheese said, MoW is like a more realistic version of CoH.
You can also take actual control of some of your units and direct their shoots etc.
Pretty fun and actually sometimes critical for some tough situations.

Stopping a huge attack from Germans of about 60-70 tanks and 400 infantry with your pitiful 40-50 Russian troops, 2 tanks and a handful of anti tank guns feels awesome when you win biggrin.gif
The 2nd mission in the first campaign let me sweaty and thinking "wtf just happened?!" the first time.

But as Cheese said also, the difficulty is much higher than CoH and a bad luck can make you loose easily since for example a shot on a tank armour has a certain amount of random put it in to know if it's going to penetrate or bounce back. You sometimes kinda "have" to save/reload quite often if you don't want to have to redo the whole things all over again.

There are also some other missions which actually play a lot like the old Commando games, you only control few troops with the missions to infiltrate enemy bases, capture submarine and co. You can check vision field of enemies, sneak around in cover, hide bodies... really like old Commando games.

Personally I got it during Xmas sales but did not know much about the game, turned out to be much better than I expected
