QUOTE(kyoriam @ May 1 2010, 03:58 AM) hi just wan to ask if my phone is update normally from itunes to 3.1.3 firmware isit posible for me to install 3.1.3 custom firmware ? isit got any diff btw the original firmware? normally, custom firmware is to retain the baseband and the modem version in order to JB and also software unlocked.... if the phone has been updated to 3.1.3 thru itunes, using custom firmware will not change anything to it as the baseband and modem has been updated to the latest version... installing a custom firmware will not changed it back to the old version

The last iPhone OS upgrade (2 to 3) was free for iPhone users, but not iPod Touch - had to do with how Apple accounts for revenue differently for the two products or something like that.
Should still be free for iPhone users... I hope. :-)

Apple's page at http://www.apple.com/iphone/preview-iphone-os/ says "Summer" for iPhone / iPod touch & Fall for iPad. so can expect it around late July for iPhone / iPod touch, and probably around late August / Mid Sept for iPad. don't worry about buying now, the OS update is free for iPhone / iPad. Is it only me that OS4.0 ideas all come from what people are already doing with their jailbreaked phones?
-Multitask -change background image -can create folders to organize apps
I believe these are the main highlights.. so boring.. all the JBers already doing this for quite some time liao >.<
btw i wonder if the OS4.0 multitasking works the same like the JB ones.. I think the JB multitask works quite nicely d, can allow any program to run in background if you choose to.. i think the os4.0 only allow certain programs to run in background only is it?

OS 4 multitasking is supposed to do a better job by allowing only essential services to run in the background. meaning it wont take must memory. Right now backgrounder just keep the entire app running with all its services if I'm not mistaken.
