After reading the forum here, many recommend Three Kim. But it is located quite far for me.

How about Chuan Li? Anyone use Chuan Li iron grille before? www.chuanli.com.my

Please recommend any good grille supplier in klang? Thanks.
*
Three Kim provide good service and fast delivery. I am from Puchong as well smile.gif

Nowadays rarely see aluminum grills. Nobody use aluminum for grills anymore? Won't rust or need repainting.

This is due to aluminum is soft and easy to scratch... smile.gif

dear shifus,

my contractor told me that there is no sealer/primer required for gross paint ms. If i insist, they will charge more for workmanship. Is that true?

1.2mm ms with primer and gross paint. rm14/sqft. is the price reasonable?

Please share your experience on rough surface and smooth surface powder coat.

Smooth surface:
- easy cleaning & does not collect dust
- if got scratches can paint back DIY
- if paint crack, the paint can peel off??? True or not? sad.gif

Rough surface:
- appearance look tough and durable
- but difficult to clean as it will collect dust
- paint is not easily peel off

Please comment & advice

Thank you in advance

Rough surface is the current trend and mainly more durable. As for collect dust, seldom heard of it!
For rough surface, we call it sahara effect and this cost slightly higher then the normal coating smile.gif

Dear All, need you guys' opinions. Which grill design will u choose if only 2 choices available?
Why white powder coated is more expensive than other colour powder coated? Thanks.

Prefer the right side one. The left side one looks very 'auntie'.

Not sure bout the white coated price though.

I chose the right side one for windows...and left side one for my main door only..

Reason for choosing right side one is, there are more "bars" attached to the sides, so if they need to cut, i guess they need to cut more pieces ...this is just my opinion... I could be wrong...

I also choose the right horizontal one for the same reason. The one on the left, if they really want to break in, they only need to cut 4 bars (2 vertical bars top and bottom) and they can remove the entire 'grille' and just climb in. if it was the horizontal bars, they would need to cut more, thus taking more time...

But then again, if u have alarm installed, even before they cut any bars..the alarm would have gone off...

so, one more important item is to have alarm installed, though sometimes can be annoying with false alarms...well, just let it blare for a while...at least u will be awake when it goes off rather having awaken by a parang on ur neck

That happened to my Aunt in shah alam, group of them disarm the alarm and came in in broad daylight, held her with parang on her neck. She was hospitalized for 2 weeks because of the blood lost on the cut on the neck. They threaten her and asked for her children apart from money. This was 8 years ago when my cousin was just 1mth old.

come to think of it, it was really really scary..but grille and alarm is the least we should do, and dog would be good too

They managed to disarm the alarm despite not knowing the code? Did the alarm go off?

Nowdays is really bad, even if my alarm goes off, i will let it go until I've checked my house and ensure it's a false alarm....dun really bother if it awakes my neighbours...safety first man..

Yup, they disarm it with some device, police said a few house experienced the same thing. This was in section 11 shah alam about 8 yrs ago..they have 2 alarm,1 for gate 1 for home, imported from germany last time, they disarm the gate with device n the alarm for house was triggered, put parangto her neck n threaten her

I think for condos on high floors the grilles are to protect ppl from falling out the big window kua, like climbing toddlers n small children

Thanks all for the comments smile.gif

Security aside, is right side grill in the pic nicer than left side one?
At first glance, I thought so too but the price for left side is surprisingly more expensive than the right side one.

Do u mean more old fashioned? smile.gif

So right side is preferred? Then it's not a hard decision as the price is cheaper too (both are white powder coated). I was indecisive because I thought in long run, the right side grill will become boring.
