Do u mean more old fashioned? smile.gif

So right side is preferred? Then it's not a hard decision as the price is cheaper too (both are white powder coated). I was indecisive because I thought in long run, the right side grill will become boring.

Not to say old fashioned but it's the kind of design an older person would choose.

Never mind design like aunty or old people lah laugh.gif your safety is more important.

I also like this aunty-aunty design below, what do you think? Wonder how much to the whole house with these grilles?

http://www.elegance2u.com/enlarge-products.php?prod_id=124

Nowadays, the design is grilles inside, window glass outside. I remember when I was young, the grilles are always outside, window glass inside.

I prefer the left side, coz my home right now have the same design as the right side and it is abit difficult to open the aluminium window without extra space to manouver. The downside is that it looks kinda old fashioned.

questions on grille. i'm down to 2 types of grille

0.5 and 1 inch grille (hollow inside) vs 6mm grille (full metal)

now, the 0.5-1inch grille most likely is 2 sides wielding, whereby the 6mm grille is full wielding (all 4 sides).

Most of the contractors told me that even 2sides wielding, the 0.5-1inch grille will be harder for the thieves to break it (not cut, more like expand it and break it from the side), compare to the 6mm.

whereby got 1 contractor told me that if the 6mm doing full wielding, then it is harder to break compare to the 0.5-1inch grille.

which one is true?

also, some mentioned that if the grille using car paint, it is more lasting compare to ici. but disadvantage of it is that you will face difficulties when you wanna repaint it many years down the road.

so what do you think?

0.5-1inch grille vs 6mm grille

car paint vs ici paint

Is there such thing as car or ici paint? I was told only powder coated or non-powder coated paint with galvanized or non-galvanized type. Anyone can share which is good to know?

for my 2-storey terraced intermediate house around Bukit Jelutong, i got quoted for MS 6mm solid at 4" gap horizontal with white powder coated (without galvanized) for 500 sqft around RM7200...not sure if this price is ok or not..so i calculated approximately RM14.40/sqft..i know the price for window and door is different but basically thats the price per sqft.

The price inclusive of 3 emergency doors and a special door lock for the main entrance.

If want cheaper can go for MS 6/8" hollow type or the MS 4/8" hollow type.

Anyone can recommend grill shop at Taman Bukit Serdang?

Just would like to remove the existing grill at window that installed inside the house thus it actually will block the curtain.

Just want to extend the outside one (currently half of the window) so that I cover the whole window.

So small job can find contractor ?

The vertical ones look like invisible grill

They aren't meant to keep thieves out but just safety for children and pets
