i tried installing it ur way, but everytime i check the device manager, it still says drvier version 188.55.

where did i go wrong?

To install the latest 197.16 official drivers on a M11X u need to go to ur bios, set ur graphics to discreet, then only u can install. IF u use the hybrid u can't install it, forever u will get error coz the intel graphics will interfere with your graphics. And even if u can make it work u can't switch ur gpu anymore. I tried this on a M11x. tongue.gif
Running the 197.16 3dmark got around 64xx gain from 61xx, was tested on a demo unit with a SU4100 processor. The memory only 3gb, duno if it would make any more diff if 4gb. drool.gif

yea called dell. they actually will bring spare parts to fix for me on monday. but i tell them my issue with unbalance base. the person in charge say it could be alot of factors that cause the base to be unbalance. the chassis problem and some other environmental issues. as a result, they cant fix the unbalance issue cuz it needs some device to test this issue. according to him, the unbalace base is very common. somemore its aluminium made chassis.

so, they will bring my laptop back to dell. fix for 5 days and return me by next friday.

so isit okay to let them bring back? i just scare after disassembling my laptop, it will be scratched or some other minor issue will happen to my laptop.. any experience

Cool bro. Can't wait for that. BTW, Have you tried any thermal paste? Im thinking of getting the Artic Cooling CX3 Paste to use on the GPU and see if I can bring down the temp by a few degrees. Any advice?

the gap is big enuf to let dust go in.. after pushing in, it will bulge out again

Added on April 15, 2010, 9:03 ami not sure bout that la. the drop isnt really anythin as it was protected in the laptop bag. belkin bag.

i think it has already been there since i bought it.

its really bothering me, cuz the dust can get in

If dust can get in, send it for warranty claim. A gap like that should not be left unattended..

I always insist on ON-SITE repairs. I prefer them to finish the job in front of me and also its quicker. They take back it will 5 days, but fixing the cover or a panel won't take more than an hour. THey have 2 hours to spare when they come over to your place....

they say can only fix the screen for me on site. but about the unbalance base problem, they cant ... so thats why they have to bring back.

the person in charged to ask me bout my decision, either to let them bring back and fix the screen together with the check-up on the unbalance base, OR they come and fix my screen only.
then he recommended me to let dell bring back to inspect on the chassis. if really got unbalance issue, they will fix it for me. so its like killing 2 birds with a stone.

so i din think much lo, i told them to come collect next monday. and return on friday.

now i just worried that the technician inside wil be rough to my m11x sad.gif
i don wan later coem back got full of scratches, or the screws become loosen, or got scratch at keyboard, or any other issue... >.<

Yes. They are very carefull. And also ask for cloth to wipe his hands if he sweats.... I was nervous as hell too seeing my poor M15x being taken into a billion pieces like that. And just 1 week after receiving it. The sponge thing is standard for DELL for many years.

The scary thing about this technician is that my unit is the 1st ALIENWARE he has ever operated on for a customer. He has done it in training before but never for a customer so he's also under pressure according to him laugh.gif

So FAR the ones I met are. They are even those younger than me....

You don't have to worry, they're helpful. One technician who came late to my place even after he had an accident. They normally stop coming by 6pm but this guy came over at 9pm to change my GPU and ended up going back at almost 12am. He didn't charge overtime etc..... thumbup.gif

isit got problem? or u wanna upgrade and u call up dell?

Added on April 15, 2010, 5:12 pmi really hope they will not scratch or buat cincai when they do it in their own labs later... if not, i will call them to swap a new laptop for me if i see all scratches all over the laptop.. sad.gif

what to do.. i have unbalance case which they need to check it in their labs.. so yeah.. just finger crossed and pray hard they will treat it with the fullest care just as how they traet urs and others at their home in front of the owners smile.gif if so, then i will give 10 thumb ups for their excellence service biggrin.gif

These pics were actually taken when my NEW M15x had problems. I called DELL Technicians twice to come over, the first time they opened the whole notebook cos the problem was MOTHERBOARD. After that settled, my GPU Had issues which was the 2nd time they came over to change NEW NVidia GTX 260M GPU. Im just reposting the pics for the new members to see thats all... it was previously posted in Thread V3 o V2. sweat.gif

I think my M15x was the only one giving the most problems. The others seems to be fine or their issues for their notebook is not as serious.... smile.gif
