QUOTE(ButanicaBanzai @ May 6 2010, 10:03 PM) Thx for CnC. Will try to improve next time. duhh i've bought rm300+ stuff from LYN by postage also not got conned. I recommend Hasegawa (search for his thread in LYN), he sells danbo at rm87+ and he won't con you because me and my fren also bought from him.I canot buy in LYN oso my parents only trust those shop sellers only. Others they dont trust 1 If don't trust no choice lah, because you won't find it anywhere in KL. If you found then you must be uber lucky. |

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ May 6 2010, 09:18 PM) If i don't have any gear, why would I join this nikon thread >.< only see him talk like this after buy D90 haha jk bro~~~~ Im stressing that we should discuss gears in such way that how to improve our shots etc, not just keep talking about ppl's latest gear "wah new lens ahhh how much".. "wah D300S ahhh pro pro sifu~" No need lah, ppl buy D300S not to show off, they have their purpose for it. We don't need to envy or jealous, because the best camera is not in the shop, it's the one you're having now. true tho, juz shoot what ur gears can shoot nicely....juz be aware of the limitations. 18-55 also can take good pictures during the day. if u know u only got kit lens, dun have flash, dun lar do photoshoot at night... |

I get D90 cuz im aware of what I need lar XD
But seriously speaking, D90 image is not really "superior" than D40. Just that the shutter feels faster, lens got VR and lens sharper (not d90), much better noise control and more megapixels. I don't see any other difference in image wise. Maybe color reproduction too but that's minor to me. So my experience tells that if you don't know what you need, don't bother to upgrade =D I definitely need the high ISO and bigger grip, commander etc so i decided to upgrade lah. Depends on you XD |

High ISO sensitivity will always be on FF camera... IMO, Nikon are now trying to move towards AF-S lens... U can see that the plan are to take off the AF Motor from all the camera body.. So in the future, we might only focus on higher ISO camera, and commander wise, for strobist la i think.. Haha... (I have a feel that i might get bashing from other forumer...) |

canon 550D is performing quite good at high ISO already. In fact although 450D max iso is 1600, but at 1600 it's quite useable. D5000 is using the same sensor with d90, so i expect it to be a sub2k model with acceptably high ISO. but no commander and AF motor and top LCD lah.

yeap2, of course we can't expect FF ISO sensitivity in cropped sensors (maybe in, uh, 10 years?), but looking at the 550D, pretty impressive eh...
yesterday went dinner at an outdoor place with my friends. took photos with my D40 + 35mm 1.8, ISO 1600, aperture priority at 1.8-2.8, exposure compensation at -0.3 and shot in RAW. not bad la after bumping exposure n correcting the white balance in lightroom. not sharp obviously, but usable |

QUOTE(bad melatonin @ May 6 2010, 11:27 PM) Yeah.. If i am using my D40... My ISO will not go over 800.. More than that, gone case... In my D300s, i will try not to go over 800 as well.. Hahaha.. Just to ensure lowest possible noise in the pic... |

My ex-d40 also shot some outside a temple with ISO1600 during CNY, it's quite usable also. Apply slight noise reduction in photoshop and it turned out quite ok.yesterday went dinner at an outdoor place with my friends. took photos with my D40 + 35mm 1.8, ISO 1600, aperture priority at 1.8-2.8, exposure compensation at -0.3 and shot in RAW. not bad la after bumping exposure n correcting the white balance in lightroom. not sharp obviously, but usable Erm i actually don't know how to use exposure compensation... Is it that your current setup tends to overexpose a bit when metering, so u set it to -0.3? Hmm on my D40 even ISO400 also i kedekut... Now using D90, the max i use is ISO 1250 for snapshots (for example, capturing receipt for bank in... etc which doesn't need to be too nice) =D Normally using 200~400. QUOTE(fcuk90 @ May 6 2010, 11:35 PM) Choosing on what ISO to shoot is depending on the light source... If under extreme conditions, we got no choice but to bump the ISO higher, if there is an acceptable light source, we can lower the ISO to make sure the pic has the lowest possible noise on it... If u got tripod with u, that will be better, cause long exposure won't be a problem already.. But it depends on what kind of shot u are taking... IIANM, D90 or D5000 will get obvious noise if there is too much white scene in the pic... |

I prefer around ISO400~800 + flashgun for low light shoot, since i don't have any fast lens... If concert/performance, i prefer to use high ISO, no flash to capture the ambient light. Flash is like killing the atmosphere. Image the red/blue/yellow spotlights are gone, but a bare flash is produced...Ait, time to sleep... cya guys This post has been edited by zellleonhart: May 6 2010, 11:49 PM |
