that means we use the pop up flash and shutter speed 1/160, 1/200 can make the object behind the item will be dark???
just the object look clear?
*
well yeah. the subject will look clear, but ugly tongue.gif one way is to use rear flash sync...the flash will help illuminate the subject face, but the longer shutter speed to capture the background. the background might be blur a bit la, but better than juz pure black

waaaseh... v8 already rclxms.gif
guys, can uv filter be use for indoor shooting?
i saw this Hoya PRO1D UV(0) 52mm @ RM170. is d price ok? is hoya filter ok?
what is prime & all-in-one lens?
pls help notworthy.gif ....
*
prime lens = cannot zoom. good optics n very fast

all-in-one lens = huge zoom range... something like 18-200. meaning u almost dun need any other lens dy since u already have the huge range...but then quality so so lah

QUOTE(celciuz @ Mar 31 2010, 05:30 PM)
Cheap Hoya/Kenko spoils the image too tongue.gif. Basically, if you get what you pay for. Something good would be like the SuperHMC, Pro1D or HD from Hoya/Kenko.
*
haha yalor, but not as bad as cheaper filters ;p so far havent had any problems with flare with my hoya

oic noted. so quality of uv filter will determine the "cun-ness" of a photo.
hmmm... i think i will go for hoya hd uv filter.
1 more thing, does CPL filter crucial?
can multiple filter be mounted to a lens? lets say configuration of
lens > lens protector > uv filter > cpl filter ??
*
yes, can stack, but not all filters can la. need to get the stackable kind

btw y lens protector > uv filter summore... the uv filter is lens protector already smile.gif also, no point stacking a UV filter since we only use it for protection. if u use CPL, then the CPL will do double duty... polarizing while also protecting the lens...so no need UV filter already smile.gif

filter stacking is for CPL + ND filters etc

i'm too cheap to buy an external flash. is there a way for me to do this:

1) somehow connect my nikon D40 with my LX3
2) when i press the D40 shutter, the LX3 will fire the built-in flash wahaha

*
so nice ur mom rclxms.gif i ask my mom buy external hdd also cannot haha. dunno easy to sell or not, can always try. but u play with it 1st la. it wont replace 35mm prime (different usage), but it's not like it's useless. no need to read too much review..if it's good 4 u then it's good. i nvr play with 24-120 so i dunno sad.gif

I think 50mm is good for potrait shooting...  and its cheap.. xD

if u wanna shoot inanimate objects then ok. for anything else, no AF quite hard..time spent on focusing is better spent on composing

both are good choices. personally i prefer 18-70 + 70-300 rather than 18-200, or 18-105 + SB600 + go vacation tongue.gif

cheapest 18-200 i saw was RM2550...
do u guys think worth going for 18-200 or shud i go 55-200?
or shud i just go for AF-S 50mm?
*
AF-S 50mm is different purpose. if u want 50mm, juz get it...no point comparing to 55-200 n 18-200 tongue.gif if budget constraint get 35mm 1.8, less than half the price of 50mm 1.4 AFS and easier to use in small room biggrin.gif

so 18-55 + 55-200 combo.. cheaper than 18-200, but need to bring 2 things :S so even 18-55 n 55-200 is lighter than the 18-200... combined 18-55 and 55-200 is heavier n need bigger bag~ the combo supposedly give u better quality pics lah, but for me i wont notice the difference hehehe

since u're thinking of 55-200 and have the money for 18-200... consider the 70-300 VR too smile.gif

is there a place in Miri to rent (or borrow? ;p) 10/12-24mm AFS?

i think the only other nikkor lens around that range n price is 16-85 VR, but feels like overpriced to me :S prefer 18-105 rm1.2k only

sigma 18-200 OS HSM, tamron 17-50/2.8 VC, 24-75/2.8

Active D-Lighting and noise reduction makes the pics longer to appear, cuz need more processing time

u can turn both off if u want. active d-lighting is pretty neat, but noise reduction i see macam no effect on my gf's D60 tongue.gif

a bit more. so ur maximum budget is rm2500 is it? should've state 1st... plus "upgrading" from D3000 to D60 is kinda stupid thing to do... actually very stupid thing to do. D3000 is better than D60 in every way. what review u read??

get 18-200 VR! if too expensive, get sigma 18-200 OS HSM. RM1796 (yamiya.com.my)

so Nikon 18-200 is around how much?

you can get it around RM2700-2800. okay for u? sell ur 18-55 kit lens lah, u wont need it anymore if u get 18-200

the price you stated is VR or VR II?

18-55 is only rm350-400 cry.gif
*
VRII. 350-400 better than nothing..haha

anyway i agree, if u dun need 105-200, juz get 18-105... better quality, cheaper size n smaller n lighter. juz scared in the future u think about getting 70-300 again ;P if u really decide u only want one lens, 18-200 it is! sure the pic is a bit soft but very convenient lens

Hmmm...thanks for you all suggestion!
Now I may think to get 18-105....
after that, as you said, aim for 70-300!! laugh.gif
*
whoa wait wait wait... bad idea there. if u wanna get 70-300, dun get 18-105... no use having duplicate range of 70-105

if u want 70-300, juz keep with ur 18-55 kit lens. missing 55-70mm not much problem. for ~RM2700 i think better get Tamron 17-50 VC and SB600 flash. but then u'll end up with two lens... i thought u said u only want 1 lens?

QUOTE(CloudKee @ Apr 5 2010, 11:20 PM)
But already got 80-200....still need?
*
ur 80-200 can only manual focus, and maximum aperture is f4. 70-200 can autofocus on D3000, and maximum aperture is F2.8 n got VR summore. big big difference

QUOTE(mykpin88 @ Apr 5 2010, 11:24 PM)
may i knw which 50mm lense should i buy?cheap ones..
*
what body u using? if D40-D5000 then cheapest 50mm is the 50mm AF-S f1.4, RM1800 biggrin.gif

How much will it be?
*
lol i wasnt joking. u got five options:

1) 50mm f1.8D, ~RM300-400. cheap, but u need to manual focus.
2) 35mm f1.8G, ~RM750-850. reasonable price, can autofocus, easier to use in small rooms
3) 50mm f1.4D, ~RM1000 i guess. better performance than (1), but still need to manual focus
4) 35mm f2D, ~ ~RM1100. sharper than (2), still can use with FX nikons, but need to manual focus
5) 50mm f1.4G, ~RM1800. holy grail tongue.gif

QUOTE(SkyBlue99 @ Apr 5 2010, 11:45 PM)
I reporter doesn't need that much of a sharp image if they're job r like stalking etc etc. What if you're doing pro modelling or wedding or event specialization? U can't exact a soft image to be used for large prints to begin with no?
d90 also within your d40-d5000 le tongue.gif

I didn't recommend the 1760 vc because 1750vc is a little short to begin with. That's the darn sad part sad.gif
*
i mean d40-d5000 as in the thread's cameras tongue.gif we shud have a name for no-motor bodies!

yeah it's short. but if he wants the 70-300, i think better pair with 18-55 or 17-50. single lens solution, ofcoz 18-200, but must decide that he wont buy 70-300 later. if he did, huge duplicate range
