A bit rare to see this lens having rubber issue, this lens is supposed to be tough built @@. Is this the one with nano coat?

I got my 55-200mmVR, I juz wonder does the Petal and Bayonet hood makes any difference? But I really like the Petal hood la, hahaa.... cost 48 bucks per piece =.=

me too prefer d petal. i wonder is there any petal lens hood that fits my kitlens...

i've lost my d80 and d300 eyepiece... never been replaced.. no worry.. still can shoot and produce great photos..

50mm is a prime lens, cannot zoom. IMHO beginner should learn with a zoom lens, e.g. 18-55mm or 18-105mm.

Kitlens should not use petal hood because of the rotating focus ring.

Yea... The petal hood rotating is a bit weird la... lol, last time I oso tot wanna get 1 for my 18-55, there one screw on thread hood for 52mm actually, juz if u don mind it rotating all the way while it focus den ok, haha...

NO.... for kitlens, the only option for petal hood is the screw on hood to the lens thread, hence while focusing, the Front part of the lens will rotate(unlike other lens, such as the AF-S 55-200mm VR which doesnt rotate). This make the hood looks so stupid white u taking photos, it's rotating!! The designated bayonet hood for kit lens by Nikon on the other hand is circular shape, so even it rotates, U won notice it's rotating, get me??

Any pro out there can explain to me is there any obvious diff btw Bayonet hood and Petal Hood other den looks

Lens hood is mounted on the front of the lens, while D3000/d5000 kit lens' front is the focus ring which will rotate when you focus. So when it rotates the petal hood will rotate too and it looks weird. Round hood doesn't looks weird because when it rotates it still looks the same.
