Movie below par. Poor characters except Bryan Cranston.

For once, this movie lacks Michael Bay's touch. Godzilla's atomic breath is just alright...pretty much reminds me of penunu bunsen.

And Godzilla is clearly an American. Like really.

While on the note, I hereby Wiki copy-paste of the critic response of both Godzilla (2014) and the old Godzilla (1998).
and each first sentence goes:
So there you have it, folks.
If still not satisfied, go compare them both at all those Rotten Tomatoes, Meta Critics, etc.
APA LAGI U MAUUU tongue.gif

Why need RT to tell me which is good? Is all based on preference, not everyone the ori Godzilla fan.

Like some other, i feel this movie is ok, but could have been better.

haha, very polarized reviews from many movie goers
just like durian, either you love it or hate it tongue.gif

For me, it's GREAT!!
finally they got the King of Monster (almost) right on the big screen!!

don't get me started on the 1998 nightmare version of horrible giant lizard that I wished I can wipe it out from my memory...
this version is a million times better than that!!

This is a classic take on Japanese giant monster vs monster movie, but the story unfolds mostly from human POV,
starting great, middle pacing a bit slow, and the ending was a real climax!! rclxm9.gif

4/5 from me for a monster movie
minus 0.5 star for slower pace in mid movie
another 0.5 star for making his supposedly radiation breath underpowered laugh.gif

Cos Godzilla has a US green card that's why. This godzilla although i love its size, it possessed less swag compare to the japanese version. Lack of aggressiveness. Lack of 'WASSAP EVERYBODY, FARK OUT THE WAY! BACK ON THE LAND, BEECH! YOU SHIT ON MY TURF, MUTO?

And wtf mayn, constellations ships cruised NEAR godzilla...as if they are comrades. Not to mention, it avoided the ships, flawlessly.

but seriously, i can't agree more, after he's gone (one of the main attractions of the film if the director wants to put the "human element" into Godzilla) there's NO MORE "human element" anymore because everyone else doesn't matter at all. and u are right, if there are nobody we care about after Joe died, Godzilla should be the main "actor" but he is NOT. instead we see a lot of people (that we don't care about) screaming, running, getting killed, shooting a huge beast with a mini gun (their THAT stupid...) and so on.

lol, Godzilla to US soldiers:"we're bros man!"

we all loved the jap Godzilla because we feared it and loved it at the same time, because he's unbiased and totally kicked axx. anybody / anything that gets in it's way is asking for it. this american.......thing is just that, an american that does MINIMUM damage on american soil......

not "hardcore", just a fan. people keeps banging on about this movie's relevance to the ori / first Godzilla movie but it's not at all about that, it's supposed to bring back the relevance of ALL the previous Godzilla films (jap ones), and i'm not seeing any of it being done.

Yup hence the lack of swag and aggression. Although i like the animation pre-atomic breath, it needs to be fused with more ray element in it till the MUTO needs to use shades to avoid being flash bang.

i am talking about the 'feel' of the movies, not the physical elements. the human struggle to keep him at bay or to destroy it, but at the same time to protect humans from the other Kaijus, some of them created by humans to destroy Godzilla. We need Godzilla to defend against human errors but at the same time we need him gone to survive. not to mention that the Kaijus / monsters from the jap version were more terrifying than these 2 in the american version, the jap concepts were totally weird AND scary. at first, this new movie's kaiju (before they came out of their spore or cocoon) is so awesome, the artists who designed the spore and sound effects got it right, after they came out it's just a national geographic kind of thing......

I agree with your opinion bro. nod.gif Many people assume the one who didn't like Godzilla (2014) movie loves the Zilla (1998) version. Pleaseee.. For me that movie is a disgrace to Godzilla franchise. (Cause it totally change Gojira to something else). I love how the japs kill Zilla in the short clip people posted earlier. laugh.gif But judging it as a movie itself, (even they didn't get Gojira right), its still a well executed movie unlike current one. nod.gif btw bro, does Gojira has little screen time too in the japs version? Is he a sideshow or is he the main show in his own movie? hmm.gif

hope they will do better with the sequel

i heard gareth edwards wanted to do something like Destroy All Monsters. hope Toho will give them the rights for the other kaijus eg King Ghidorah, Rodan, Mothra etc. no more boring MUTOs
