Here my review after watching it a while back
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Dont go in expecting something like Pacific Rim, is not.... the fight are very limited to the last 1/2 hours, drama here and there, but i kinda feel that i fail to build up the tension... Overall, a 6/10 from me, probably great for giant monster lover. ps: I kinda feel that the Godzilla 1998 is kinda better in sense of building up tension, characters and as a monster flick. QUOTE(ridox_orimabu @ May 16 2014, 09:24 AM) the last 1998 movie was a t-rex and american called them godzilla. i think they seriously misuderstood and in their own imagination. Well, I dont know why so serious about the theme, sure they use godzilla for the 98 movie, but as long as it's an entertaining movie, why not? I mean i can named it Mutated Lizard or monster attack, but the important is the content..... QUOTE(ridox_orimabu @ May 16 2014, 10:11 AM) well, as far as i know from what i follow of Godzilla japs series.. Movie remaking and rebooted, i never know spiderman got Stacy Gwen.... instead of Mary Jane.... Godzila characteristic is : 1 - Fire atomic breath. 2 - Do not eat fish. 3 - Fatty. the 1998 don't have all this. how you call it a godzilla movie? Director tend to stir thing up to make it more enjoyable, of cause not on the fan but to the open public..... If staying true to the original, why not just rubber suit than CGI? But i understand you feeling, i am a fan to some other movie too and got piss when it ran far off the track from the original, but take it open-mindedly, it just a movie, as long as it got and entertaining plot and characters, is good for me. |

QUOTE(ridox_orimabu @ May 16 2014, 10:19 AM) side character do not really justify the originallity of a movie flick. HAhah.... for me, movie entertainment is the most important.... instead of stir things up, the 1998 movie was a total HOMAGE to Godzilla. and HOMAGE is not even close to the real thing. but u know what, im one of those who bought their T-shirt when it's out in the cinema. n yes, that's 1998. HAHAHAH. Originality is always 2nd especially in today era of filming.... Cant help how it would looks like if they made an ultraman movie lol... |

QUOTE(ridox_orimabu @ May 16 2014, 10:43 AM) hmm. interesting thought. Is ridiculous Im prety sure it will involved the sleeping giant ( Jupiter ) , and some bunch of advance scientist for a secret project.. And this DNA is injected into the human body, 100 people tested. 99 failed ( become farkingly ugly monster that challenge the Ultraman) and 1 succeed ( Ultraman ). Then comes the gigantic transformation technique. It will be more gruesome than some of kamen rider 80's henshin. can u imagine 6 ft tall becoming so big but need a very biologic transofrmation? EEEWWWW |

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ May 18 2014, 03:02 AM) those who say this film is shit probably never watched the original 1954 version, and liked the 1998 shit remake I give u that.in paying homage to the classics, this film did a great job. a godzilla fan will understand those who watch it for action alone will probably like it, but don't expect the pacific rim level of action as for normal movie goers.... it depends on what sort of film u like. critics will alway be critics I am not godzilla fan so i probably dont understand what the fuzz about in this movie. But for the fan who like it? Good for you |

QUOTE(silbii @ May 18 2014, 10:50 AM) kids nowadays just probably know Godzilla from the 98 shitty version, and i believe they were probably still in diapers when the film was out. Not really, review is the real businessand now most of them wanna become film critics. sad but true :/ the truth is that ... nobody cares what you think lah! It would affect the sales of the tickets |

QUOTE(firedauz @ May 19 2014, 01:22 AM) While on the note, I hereby Wiki copy-paste of the critic response of both Godzilla (2014) and the old Godzilla (1998). Why need RT to tell me which is good? Is all based on preference, not everyone the ori Godzilla fan. and each first sentence goes: So there you have it, folks. If still not satisfied, go compare them both at all those Rotten Tomatoes, Meta Critics, etc. APA LAGI U MAUUU Like some other, i feel this movie is ok, but could have been better. |
