You could have restore the computer in minimal recovery mode. Windows will be reinstalled without the junk. To get into recovery mode, press Esc when you turn on the computer. Select system recovery.

Oh so that's it? I dont need any Windows DVD or anything like that? Have you tried it out yourself?

Btw, where can I find my Windows 87 OEM key?

You don't need anything, not even the key. Of course I've tried it.

OK thanks. Just a few questions, if you dont mind.

Do I need to download and reinstall the specific drivers if I choose minimal recovery?

Is the speed boost very noticeable once all the junk software is out?

Just in case I do need to activate my Windows in the future, where do I find my Windows 7 key? I think I read somewhere here before that the key can be found on the netbook itself or somewhere inside.

Minimal recovery comes with drivers, HP Wireless Assistant and HP Support Assistant. Windows is as clean as it is. Noticeable swiftness but I don't call it speed boost.

You can find the sticker when you remove the back cover. Just push a bit on the orange tabs and pry it open using your hands. You will need strong hands. You won't need to activate windows unless you use your own installation media.

Just found this thread today.

Hahaha everyone using Windows 7 Starter or downgrade to Win XP. No one using Ubuntu? Sorry but I formated my HP Mini 210 after just 3 days and installed Ubuntu Remix Edition.

Check it out: http://www.ubuntu.com/netbook

I didn't bother doing a dual boot but opt for a full format instead smile.gif

BTW the BIOS access key is F10, if you wish to access the BIOS and set passwords and boot to usb.

Heh I did that "minimized recovery" (I think that's what it is called) and now all the HP junk software is out of my system. Noticeably faster performance.

Anyway, one annoying thing with netbooks is that since the resolution is so small, sometimes you get dialog or confirmation boxes with the "OK" or "Cancel" buttons below hidden because it's below the screen. Any way around this?

Soon Lee, you can add me into user list too.
I just received my mini notebook last week.
Basically what i dissatisfy is the ram not enough (1gb) and the brand is "HP".
I had a bad experience with the HP customer service.
Anyway i want to make sure is that no local area connection for this model?

What do you mean by local area connection? You mean wired LAN? Yes there is on the right side. You just need to peel off the cover to find the utp port and connect the rj45.

The chipset is not being used by Apple for any of their system. You will have issue with the display. Windows 7 experience would be much better.
