Add me to the list too. Just got my coolunipack netbook today.
There's a whole load of programs installed. Can someone make a list of those which can be safely uninstalled? The netbook is slow as it is, I dont need all these programs swamping the ram and processor.
Also, which is a good and free antivirus for netbooks? Low ram and cpu usage.

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Jun 21 2010, 03:10 PM) You could have restore the computer in minimal recovery mode. Windows will be reinstalled without the junk. To get into recovery mode, press Esc when you turn on the computer. Select system recovery. Oh so that's it? I dont need any Windows DVD or anything like that? Have you tried it out yourself? Btw, where can I find my Windows 87 OEM key?

OK thanks. Just a few questions, if you dont mind.
Do I need to download and reinstall the specific drivers if I choose minimal recovery?
Is the speed boost very noticeable once all the junk software is out?
Just in case I do need to activate my Windows in the future, where do I find my Windows 7 key? I think I read somewhere here before that the key can be found on the netbook itself or somewhere inside.

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Jun 21 2010, 04:02 PM) Minimal recovery comes with drivers, HP Wireless Assistant and HP Support Assistant. Windows is as clean as it is. Noticeable swiftness but I don't call it speed boost. You can find the sticker when you remove the back cover. Just push a bit on the orange tabs and pry it open using your hands. You will need strong hands. You won't need to activate windows unless you use your own installation media. OK thanks a lot for your help.

Heh I did that "minimized recovery" (I think that's what it is called) and now all the HP junk software is out of my system. Noticeably faster performance.
Anyway, one annoying thing with netbooks is that since the resolution is so small, sometimes you get dialog or confirmation boxes with the "OK" or "Cancel" buttons below hidden because it's below the screen. Any way around this?

QUOTE(ff8ong @ Jun 25 2010, 08:20 PM) So if i plan to recovery now, what am i suppose to do? can direct BIOS screen and press some button? Its not necessary to make a image to pendrive? Thanks, i never do recovery before on any device. Press 'esc' when you boot up the netbook, right when the big HP logo comes out. That will take you into the recovery console. If you just got your netbook, I suggest going into recovery and selecting "minimized recovery" (or something like that). This will format your Windows partition and reinstall Windows plus drivers without any of the HP junk software (only the HP support assistant will remain). Noticeably faster performance. mengsuan taught me this. Luckily I didnt format it myself.
