Actually looking closer, it could be Fiber cabinet. I saw the same logo in the SDF from in my apartment, where all the fibers converge to the IP DSLAM and VDSL box.

ok, this is something really makes me wonder. I would still ask here anyway.

We all know Unifi give free fix phone line call right? That means most unifi user would have canceled their copper phone line service. The real question is, does the legacy old school FAX service work on Unifi?(because someone outdated still use fax machine)

It seems not possible as i didnt see any relation between these 2 technologies or any statement TM say it will work with Unifi.

Generic Old version of fax machine using FSK and with various speed.
Fiber is just a medium like copper.

The answer is YES. Fiber can transport fax machine data.

Newer fax machine which supports T.30, T.37(store n forward) and T.38 (realtime) over IP can also uses fiber as the channel

Hi Guys,

Got a question. I am a currently using Streamyx 1Mbps package (RM99 monthly) staying at Bangsar area. The place I am staying always get struck by lightning and my equipment always got hit by it (even with Surge protector also no use) and the speed is slow most of the time.

In this kind of scenario, do you think I should upgrade it to Unifi? If I do upgrade, will there still be a high chance of the equipments getting hit by lightning? I know this is a luck question, but still I am wondering what would you do in this kind of scenario.

Peace  icon_rolleyes.gif

dude ... common ... i want to see actual user feed back not "non unifi" feed back...

this goes back to those day when "screamyx" first launch....

we were crossing our fingers for another ISP to provide broadband service ...but nothing turn up ... Astro Jaring was a failure, Time Webbit was not working out, time broadband only in expensive places...

at the end still go back to streamyx.... now unifi gives you bigger pipes... same old same old starts again...

if its only rm 159, i personally think i can still live with it for 5 Mbps.

then again dude ... just give them a year or 2 when PM announce them to reduce furhter the price ...if not how are other malaysian who stays in least high income area to use the services?

if wasnt for people like us using the screamyx, you think at the moment we got option meh?

wireless? only for mobility, other then that, it is still wireless. i play games alot online, my only option is still "wired" broadband...

any "unifi" users can produce some ping results at the moment? such as ping to hong kong, japan, US or europe for this case?

i am more concern of the latency then the bandwidth actually...

dude... you are living in a country with the highest number of lightning strikes in the whole south east asia...
you can always pray that the grounding in your area is deep enought so that you dont get too much damage ... if you happen to stay in some high rise... sue the management.
just my 3 cents. notworthy.gif

is the fiber termination box = exchange server?

In terms of copper line, if i see this box 2 street away (less than 1km), means im pretty close to the exchange server/dslam

am i getting this right?
