50V is kinda pricey for me (though i am willing to eat bread lines for months), hows the reflective-ness of X and U?

Anybody setup the Viera Cast network using USB wireless adapter?. Would appreciate if any sifu gives a step-by-step instruction.I have a TP-link Usb adapter and a belkin wireless router but have difficulty especially when I plug in the adapter into the TV but shows no device. Please help n thanks

According to this webpage, Panny's 3D also has the 2D/ 3D Conversion like Samsung, which is good as v has extra option to enjoy 3D effect & not totally relies on limited (at time being) 3D Blu-ray content.  This makes it possible to watch 3D images from regular TV broadcasts or BD/DVD media, but the 3D effect s not as strong as actual 3D content.

Agreed tat Sammy 3D TV price s very competitive,   but personally i prefer the Panny's 3D effect more if compare to Samsung.

after using my P42X28 for 1 week++, and comparing to my past 2 gen of Panny 42" plasma (PX70 & X10)
I would say I'm very disappointed with this latest gen of Panny HD-ready plasma TV

First, the audio sucks big time, even my 3 years old PX70 has better clarity than this X28, the best is still X10

Second, the panel... feels like its inferior to the X10, but slightly better than the PX70... I play X360 games mostly on all three, and i notice some "image retention" on the X28, especially on those scene with bright items then switched to a black/dark background, you still can see the white/grey spots on the dark/black background where the bright item used to be
most obvious when watching the credit of a movie/game
I don't notice these "defects" on my PX70 and X10

Third, I can set a user-define name for my AV inputs on X10, eg: HDMI1 as XBOX360, HDMI2 as PS3, these features are gone in the X28!!

Fourth, less features comparing to X10, X10 can play AVCHD, X28 removed the feature

in Overall comparison, excluding price, I would rate X10 as top, PX70 as second, and X28 as the worst
gonna get a Sony soundbar to replace the horrible build-in speaker

Normal mode even at contrast 50 has a high ft/L and coupled with the fact that it is a low gamma is actually brighter and contrastier than most people think. As I said, Cinema mode is much better if u r not using the break in slides during early life.

Also it is normal that there is image retention and really shd only be vieweable in a dark room with no content (on the V20). More so during the early hours of the plasma life. The phosphors are driven much harder especially the red and blue phosphors.

My V20K is assembled in Singapore. Not very sure about the other models, though.

If u use the same channel logos at high brightness/contrast and not use anything else, there is a chance of course.

Last night, I spent about 3 hours calibrating a 50V20. These are my comments.

The black levles of the set are good. They are in the range of the Pioneer 8G sets. However, there is a caveat. The sets black levels are noisier than the older gens. As such, there is a lot of dithering in the black/shadows. If u r seated a reasonable distance from the set it would not be visible. Becoz of this, the black level does not look visually to match the older 8G Pios.

The Pro1 and Pro2 settings allowed me to hit about 40+ft/L. I managed to shoot 45ft/L but the gamma was all funky. 40ft/L and below is pretty ok.

Gamma tracking is not great. It is always lower in the dark areas while maintaining good tracking above 50%. If u target a gamma of 1.8 the gamma curves look better. Trying to target 2.2 oe 2.3 u get some strange behaviour. However, it would not be noticeable to most.  Actually most people would even comment that there is more shadow details but this is not as correct. Greyscale tracking was also not too bad, Delta Es below 3 for the whole range from 10-90%.

Colour accuracy on the set I worked on, was not too bad, I could hit Delta Es of below 3 for all colours. However, it is not reference as yet. I need to see how it can be tweaked when i work on the next set.

This is however, the best Panny plasma I hv worked on in the past few years.

Now the grouses, the problems with 50Hz signals are very evident. I could reduce it a bit, but it is always there. Its definately not a refresh rate problem, becoz the problem is artefacting at the edges. There is some kind of motion interpolation artefact that is going on. There are no problems with 24p stuff though.

The set has slightly more image retention that I was prepared for, however, it was only evident in a totally dark room or using test signals. Becoz of the problem with noisy dark areas, this is a problem that is more evident this year since the black levels are much superior compared to the last few years sets. I also saw some black level fluctuations but it was only a minor.

guys, have been following this thread for a while and have always planned to buy 50V by november. but i was offerred a good deal of 46 inch Samsung LED - ua46c6200. around RM5600 for this LED. if you guys are in my position, which one will you choose? Please advise. super headache now. Wife also impressed with the LED demo just now. but i have been following the advices here..sigh~

I don't see any burnt-in marks although i was watching Astro during the  burn-in period. But then I follow all the sifus advice to use Cinema mode withdefault contrast and brightness settings.

You can see it on a total dark environment or during daytime also?

Is your family watching the same Astro channel day in and day out? Your contrast/brightness settings are very high?

How about switching to other inputs eg Bluray/DVD? Do you still see the burn-in image?

My V20 already 1400+ hrs within 3.5 months but no burn-in image.

Edit: Is it image retention or really burn-in image?
