You should already know that. All Dolby TrueHD tracks include a Dolby Digital 640Kbps embedded, it's been this way since the codec ever used on BD. This is also the same with DTS-HD Master Audio that has a core track of DTS 1.5Mbps.

Oh, is that right? Didn't know this til I watched this flick thru my friend's DD receiver...

Actually for Dolby TrueHD, the Dolby Digital is not embedded. It is a whole separate track. The DTS track is embedded into the DTS-HD Master Audio.

Wow, special case you... are you sure Amazon got your address right? Maybe postcode or certain number that was wrongly printed... and make our Pakcik Posman unable to deliver? hmm.gif I do have friends living in E.M'sia Sarawak and they don't have problem losing parcels or receiving too late all the time...
*
Those arriving late was having exactly the address I keyed in Amazon account and it's correctly printed also. November last year, I had no problem to receive at the same address.. just a bit late compared to you guys at West Malaysia. Even the parcel which I received a week ago(dilepaskan ketam 29 Dec 2009) still have clearly readable label. So, I don't think Mr. Post have problem to deliver it. My address printed at the label as below:

NO.29, TAMAN xxxx PHASE 2,
JALAN TUN HUSSEIN ONN,
BINTULU SARAWAK 97000
MALAYSIA

That's the correct address too. Even if that's wrong, I have been to Pos Malaysia few time to ask if there's any parcel for me from Amazon (I even showed them the example of empty Amazon packaging box) from their counter and they ask me to wait for notification.

Yes, it is a separate track, I was trying to make it easier to understand. The correct word should be "attached".

The DTS track is not embedded either, it's part of the DTS-HD Master Audio track. The DTS-HD Master Audio track is designed to have the old decoder reconstruct and get the DTS core. That's why it is called "core" track.

This is from what I read 3 years ago. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Added on March 21, 2010, 12:27 pmActually it's the other way around. The DTS-HD Master Audio track was built on the DTS core track. So when a compatible DTS-HD Master Audio decoder available, it will reconstruct the data and get the full lossless track. If not, the core track will still be available to older decoders.

Sorry, confused a bit, haven't talked anything about home theaters for so long, starting to forget things. laugh.gif

Comments on image:
With a feature film bit rate that spreads from the upper 20s through the low 30s, the feature takes up only about 71% of the disc space, as compared to 92% on the Mei Ah for Parts 1 or 2. You might guess the reason has to do with the sizable extra features on the Magnet as compared to the Mei Ah. But there are other factors.

Yes, the Mei Ah appears to be denser, partly a function of its relatively higher black level. The Mei Ah presents a grittier movie – a film that takes itself seriously. On the other hand, clearly the Magnet is lovelier to look at – its very brightness makes it more agreeable without appearing to sacrifice solidity. It's only when compared directly to the Mei Ah that we wonder which is the more accurate in terms of contrast. There is a fairly consistent difference in color, with the Mei Ah appearing more saturated and redder. To my eye, the Magnet offers the more natural color.

I found no transfer issues of concern – not that there is much of a chance to reflect on the question thanks to Woo and his two cinematographers, Lu Yue and Zhang Li, and Tim Tip's fantastic production and art design. The print is quite clean and the occasional "HD" logo that appeared on my Mei Ah from time to time in the upper left corner has vanished.

Comments on Audio & Music:
On its own terms, the Chinese DTS-HD MA 5.1 offers plenty of dynamics, weight, clarity, snap, immersive battle scenes, but compared to any of the uncompressed 7.1 tracks on the Mei Ah, which has more bite as well as more nuance, spaciousness and presence. Even the dialogue has gravity without sacrificing clarity. I doubt the reason has anything to do with the being 5.1 and the other 7.1, but that the American Theatrical Version had to be so severely cut, oftentimes right in the middle of a battle sequence, that something was lost in the translation. Speaking of which, I finally gave up on the very unpromising English dub when General Zhang Fei yells "Charge" sounding a little too much like Arsenic and Old Lace's Teddy Roosevelt.

Bottom line:
My vote is for the original International Version, which is only a few dollars more for twice as much movie. In both versions, there are moments where characters discuss, argue, play music and make love, but it strikes me as hurried even if you've never seen the original film. Even without having Magnolia's International version to compare, short of an unexpected snafu, I can't imagine that its image or audio would be less good, and it has a couple of extra bonus features in the bargain. Or, you can have both. Then the only question is whether to get Magnolia's 2-parter if you already have the Mei Ah.

Ayan Blu-ray Review

Size : 50GB
Audio Language : Tamil (5.1Ch DTS-HD MA), Tamil (5.1 LPCM)
Video : AVC (H264)
Resolution : 1080p

Just completed watching Ayan blu-ray. As expected the PQ is below par compared to Sivaji Blu-ray or other Yash Raj Films blu-ray, (Pyaar Impossible , impressive though). I guess the author house should have just sticked with DTS-HD MA , instead of both DTS-HD MA & LPCM.

Ayan disc is region free and playable in any Blu-ray optical media. PQ is although grainy at certain portion of the movie, overall PQ is still needs improvement. AQ is absolutely stunning. Credits to HJ background score and foot tapping tracks.

Movie storyline , although usual to Indian cinema, with hero against baddie , its entertaining 2nd half. Overall disc is worth for Surya fans.

A portion of review from other source

"Ayan was more focused on a natural subdued look. PQ of Ayan is exactly as the director intended. The 1080p details are direct from the DPX source".
The subdued look I believe is delibrate. AQ: Stellar. Reference quailty. Totally impressed with the AQ.

I don't know how many of you know this news or not:

Disney at Amazon UK currently got buy 1 free 1 for Disney titles include Toy Story 1 and 2, Monsters Inc., Cars, Wall-E, etc. This mean that if you buy Toy Story 1 and 2 together, you only pay for 1 only. Currently both Toy Story 1 and 2 listed price is £12.00 but after deduct VAT is only £10.21 to get both Toy Story 1 and 2. That mean only about £5 for each titles rclxm9.gif And their are region free for both Toy Story 1 and 2. rclxm9.gif

We can't enjoy current promotion for Toy Story 1 and 2 in US (we can only enjoy $10 off if order together in Amazon US) but we can enjoy promotion in UK for not only Toy Story but also other Disney titles but beware region code for those title you purchase. ! laugh.gif
