So, while waiting for an iP4, I'm still saddled with an iP3G - which has served me faithfully, btw. However, its battery has never been great, and I feel it's starting to get worse.

Does anyone know of iP3G battery replacement services - cost, location - and whether or not you think it'll be worth it?

Plan is just a plan. That's all.
Plan entitles you to get certain amount of data connection at a bundled price.
If you don't have a plan then it will follow the normal rate (per kb) which can be quite astronomical depending on what you do with it. I still remember when I activated my plan on Digi many years ago for unlimited Internet in which it wasn't provisioned in their system thus for that first day itself I racked up 1k plus on data alone and got barred. After explaining my situation they unbarred it and everything went ok after that.
iPhone is the type of phone where you need to have plan with it. Even if you don't use the Internet at all, the background will still consume it (unless if you use iOS4 which can switch off the data on demand).
Check with Digi why you can't get online would be the easiest solution.

Similar happened to me in following scenario: if you had deleted the apps from your phone (but not iTunes); when you sync phone with iTunes, it will copy the (missing) apps over to your phone.

yes you can. But can only use 'edge". No 3g for 2g phones.

You have to stand corrected a little. You don't need a data plan. You can go online by way of wifi but without a data plan, you have to be diligent and monitor that the wifi connection stays intact otherwise, yes, it will automatically access 3G or EDGE for which you will be charged. And no, if you do not use any app which requires internet connection or you to be online, there would be no charges incurred.

For me - Normal usage last 1-2days.
Applications - Within half day

On sbsetting > more > set toggles > "on" edge > Press "home" button to load > repeat step no.1 and you will see 'edge" icon.

Try to untick and re-tick the photos. Then sync again.
