To all the Pros here,

I am a newbie on my IPhone 3GS, got it from Maxis a month back. That time it came with 3.1.2 OS, and i found this website: iphonenodata.com and was pretty happy with this small little tool for not exceeding my data usage from Maxis.

A week back I updated my OS to 3.1.3, even with the help of iphonenodata I am still able to download/view pages through safari, youtube and facebook!

And worst part is even when I am at home, the Iphone seems to connect to 3G network more than my home wifi.
Can anyone please advice me how to stop my 3g/edge usage? :'(
I have already exceeded 200MB of the original plan, not sure how much should I pay for it.. >"<

I have an iPhone 2G running OS 3.1.2.

2 days ago, my cell internet broke. I cannot browse or access to any sites using mobile internet. I'm a Maxis Postpaid subscriber and I'm using EDGE.

Funny thing is... I can ping those sites which means I do have a connection. Check using SBSettings and I have a data ip.

But when I try to browse or use any internet app. I get a "Safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost."

Any idea what's could be wrong?

yo guys i have a problem here with a i3Gs

i have a phone here now which doesn't even show any SMS preview at all when a SMS is received by the phone. The pop up screen on the lockscreen would not even appear. It will just do its notification tone and that is it, nothing at all no popup box on the lock screen, no text, nothing!!

Its abit of an inconvenience already as I have to slide to unlock into the springboard itself and click on the SMS application to view the sms. 

when you enable your passcode, there is an option for ya to preview your sms text or not to preview your sms text right. I've already done that and nothing seems to fix this problem.

Anyone have any opinion on this?

bro wat u means by remove the lockscreen package?? I very blur cz tis actually mine iphone and i restless thinking bout my iphone. Please help.. I tried every reset and some other way but still cant.. 

Hi, I have a new iphone 3gs and today I restore the phone settings via the phone. When it boot. It just show the wheel and apple logo for a few minutes. It won't even go to the home page. Help me please. I am using blackrain or something like that. I tried to press the top key and home key for 10 seconds then let go while pressing the home key, it still becomes like that.

I'm just worried/wondering/figuring/solving this weird problem.

This happened, let's say 3 days ago. I've an unlocked iPhone 3GS 32G, jailborken using my mac and blackra1n, OS:3.1.2 base band 5.11.7.

I usually charge my phone using the wall plug socket. Now, since three days ago... I've done nothing much with my iPhone, jsut the usuals, calls, sms... a bit of tweeting... when i synced it with my itunes, i realized that my "Other" filer size gotten bigger, from 500mb to 5gigs... then increased to 8gigs... I got so worried i ejected my iphone and decided not to touch it anywhere near my iTunes... i dont know how it manage to get bigger and bigger.. hence wasting a huge block of space in my itunes... I was wondering could this be a random virus created by Apple™? jsut to pawn us jailbroken users?

I've tried to track down where's the origin of the "other" file size using DiskAid for Macs.. and it was under Private/Var/*a 3-lettered file*/cydia's .log format..
that particular size was like 6gigs...so i've personally concluded that it's something to do wtih cydia or the jailbroken side of the phone that is causing a mass space wastage with unknown file... :/... very worrying...
I've tried switching off my phone *holding the stanby button, then sliding the off screen*... then switch it back on... the "other" file size remains that big...

but then again.. i tried rebooting my phone under my SBSsettings function... it somehow managed to solve my problem... the "other" file size went back from 8 gigs to 500mb...

So i'm asking if anyone have/has encounted this issue? How to resolve it? Is it a new virus? or something screwed up along the way?
I called my friend the same night i discovered that my "other" file size was getting bigger, he checked his phone.. and his phone was 13gigs size for his "other" section.. 45 minutes later, he called me and told me that his phone crashed/died... :/

This issue is worrying me to nuts1!!!

I'm a supernoob, so please forgive me if I asked a stupid question.

Just got my Iphone 3G 16GB 3 days ago. iTunes promted me to an upgrade of my firmware and I obliged. Only later when I read more about Jailbreak, I realize my new firmware (3.1.3) cannot do JB.

If I wanna jailbreak it anyway, is it advisable to downgrade my firmware to 3.1.2 then jailbreak it and then update my firmware to 3.1.3? Will I lose my JB if I do that?

One more thing, i found that my phone often goes on my 3G connectioon which costs a lot of money. Can I disable 3G and EDGE connection?

But is it possible to JB my 3.1.3 Iphone 3G? I found softwares that are available for Mac but not Win.

Problem Encountered : ipod Volume scroll Stuck occasionally(when i pull the volume to higher, but it keeps jump back to its original place.). but pressing volume button +/- works.
Steps Taken So Far : restart the phone works, but trying to find permanent solution

Guys just realize my calendar is having error it has a leap year bug or something it could go up to 28 February when tried changing it the date 29 is faded for February

Sorry if this has been asked before.
A few days ago, I updated the carrier file (digi) from iTunes.
Yesterday, I noticed that there was Internet Tethering option under Network.
At first, I was YAY, now I can tether with digi instead of only Maxis.
Last nite while playing game on the phone, I noticed I had ads running which was not supposed to without connection which I ignored.
This morning, I got a shock, as it seems that there is no Cellular Data Network option --> meaning I cannot set my APN hence unable to disable edge.
Can anyone help me?

So what's the different between Locked and Unlocked?

I launch an application, then how do I close/exit/quit an application?
I always press the (HOME) button after using an application.
For example: I open Safari to browse the web, when I want to compose an SMS,
I press the (HOME) button to go to the main screen then tap and "Messages" icon.
Then what about Safari at the background? How do I exit the application?

While I am at home, I use my Wifi to go online (on my router).
However, for security reason, the Wireless SSID Broadcast was set to Disabled on my router.
I can manually enter the SSID and password to "Join" the WLAN network.
But the next time when I want to use the Wifi network again, I will have to manually enter the information again.
The phone did not save my WLAN information, is this normal?

After reset my phone, I noticed my phone firmware is on 3.1.3 and I believe I cant JB. Do I need to dload 3.1.2 and restore it in itunes.. Pls advice..

No, I did not save anything..

I have read a thread. where it says to dload firware 3.1.2 and go to itunes, shift click at restore and u can restore it to 3.1.2.
Anyway, how do I JB with 3.1.3...? Pls advice..

Hi there. i having a official unlocked iphone that is MY set.. the problem currently is i can't detect the sim card.. even i put in itunes how many time also can't detect it..

Step taken:
- Restart comp already after that pull in sim card still cannot
- Change sim card between digi, hotlink, celcom still no effect on detect sim card
- Reset Network Setting in the iphone 3 time already after that still cannot detect
- Try On Other Comp also cannot.. download itunes and try it out still fail

solution that taken:
- Try to download blacksnow that work within 1 minute to detect digi sim card with full bar

But main problem is why like this?? it should be like this right? i mean for official unlocked set u just pull in sim card then can detect right?
any solution for it? can send for warranty? probably cannot right   since all is function..
