bro yez, what shud do when wifi signals turns on and off frequently? i reset the network settings and its still the same? any suggestion?

If reset network settings but problem still there, then you can proceed to restore. Restore does not solve problem still, then might due to your weaken wifi chip. Its time to change.

hmm .. whats the market price for changing the chips? sorry for asking too much but u r far more experience in these matters

i'm away at China right now using iphone 2G. Unfortunately, i can't detect any China mobile carriers at all, is it because of 2G problem?

Claiming maxis set iphone(non-contract) warranty need any details from the actual buyer?

Hi, I really need some help with my father iPhone 3GS rite now.
Yesterday, he upgrade his 3GS to IOS4 and after that upgrade his sim has been locked.
I already download IOS3.1.3 firmware and try to jailbreak it but because of lack of knowledge about jailbreaking and the jailbreaker like snowbreeze,redsnow,etc says they didnt recognize or something so I decide to skip that part
So I try to restore back without jailbreaking it in DFU mode but i got 3194 error.
I did the restoration using IOS 3.1.3


There's a picture below that shows what is happening to that iPhone 3GS




Do anyone know how to repair this? He really need this iPhone cause some of his work have to use this gadget.
I'm a newbie in this board so if there is any mistake please let me know...

By right you can just take the warranty card and claim from any Maxis centre. If its not working, first owner's number is only needed along side with warranty card. First owner present is unnecessary. Just ma 2cents.

Apple signs 4.0 firmwares now. You cannot upgrade ( or downgrade ) and 3GS to a firmware that Apple doesn't sign anymore unless you tapped on "Make my life easier" within Cydia and you follow these instructions: http://www.saurik.com/id/12

If you never save any shsh before, then you have no choice but to stay locked in 4.0 OS. There is another alternative, you can make your iPhone now function as iPod if you have sim card that locked to your iPhone. For instance, you must have at&t sim card if your set is locked to At&t (US).

this was what happened to me a few weeks back and thanks god the unlock version for 3.1.3 baseband 5.12.1 was released.. i can now use the phone.. but for your case, u need to know where ur set comes from and get the country service providers sim card to activate it .. if remains lock then i'll suggest u go for hardware downgrade .. pay few hundred bucks and get ur phone back to normal .. otherwise like what bro yez said [remains locked and use like ipod]

Before anything else, did you activate international roaming with your carrier? If not, it won't roam and therefore may not be a problem with your phone. If you have, then try a reboot to see if it can work.

I can't recall much of my conversation with my colleagues there about 1 year ago but if I'm not mistaken 3GS coming from France is locked to the telco but you can request for official unlocked activation within a certain period of time there. French law requires that. Or possibility is that one of French telco simcard would work as it might be unlocked set but it's not sim free. I remember it was huge case there as telcos brought the sole telco iPhone provider to court there.
I got France sim but I won't be back in KL anytime soon. If your dad got an office there he can try to ask them to mail the sim to him. Otherwise it would be just an expensive iPod

3) Sometimes the signal is weak so it's even harder to locked
4) See if your telco have a partner there. Don't believe this too much. Maxis claimed the have partner in Venezuela when I called but nope. Luckily Digi got a partner there.
5) If all above is OK, there might be a problem with a local telco there. Call your telco to sort this one out. It can take around 1 week as experienced by my colleague.

Don't think it's 2G or 3G. I almost always on 2G (using 3GS) when I roam as I don't need to use the data plus it's easier to get locked plus save alot on battery.

If you roam a lot per year consider getting all local telco sim (Maxis, DiGi, Celcom) or just carry those extra telco apart from your main one as prepaid.

So if I get French sim and put it in the iPhone, can I make it to be the same old iPhone 3GS back? or the iPhone will not be an iPhone and be an iPod instead?

When in firmware 3.1.3, did your father saved SHSH into cydia? if your father did, you can downgrade it into 3.1.3 and unlock it back.. you should did it BEFORE os4.0 launched.. If your father didnt, then no choice man..
you only can stick with os4 and it cant be unlock/jailbreak at the moment.. you can activate it with France sim card BUT still, the carrier wont be there... only can be used as iPod..

Hardware unlock charges will be around RM200-RM500..
it required the technician to change the whole iPhone board..

He said when the first time he bought this phone, my father already ask the seller to Jailbreak n unlock it for him. But I dont think that the seller do some saved into CYDIA. Btw, how can i check that this iPhone had save it into cydia?

You cant check. its either you confirm it with the person who jailbroken your dad's device. Or else, you try to downgrade yourself. If failed, means that shsh has not been saved.

Even you buy a french sim, you only can make it function as iPod. Somehow you need to wait for the latest release of Jb tool.
