Err, you can try HWMonitor, pretty popular tool. You can check temperatures/voltages of your processor, mobo, graphics card, battery wear level and even the fan speed!

For those willing to try, install SpeedFan and try to get your CPU fan to run at max speed.

That should cool things down quite a bit.

Anyone here using Zalman Cooler? didn't really find any reviews out there. How's the quality of the new 3000 and 3500 series?

Hi

I've got a dv6 which I have been using for almost 2 years now. The fan is pretty noisy and the temperature is getting pretty high and it auto shutdown at times.

I have tried removing the screws at the bback of the laptop but i still did not manage to open to cover.

Is there any way I can actually clean the fan without opening the back cover?

Bring to a technician and get them to do it for you. Stay and watch and learn. Treat the labour cost as tuition fee biggrin.gif

Actually, I have bought an extended 3 years warranty from HP, does this consider "faulty" for me to send it for warranty?

In that case, as it is still under warranty, bring it to SC, and tell the technician it is getting "very hot" (you know the drift brows.gif ). HP SC normally will clean for you on the spot (need to wait a while). But you probably won't be able to see the technician do it and learn something tongue.gif

Not sure if anyone noticed, but the new HP ProBook 4440S does not have air vents under the notebook. Only some front ones. And I did noticed some air flow near the WASD keys. After watching this video, it confirmed my suspicion biggrin.gif
