Zalman NC2000 cooler meets Studio XPS 16

Condition of room
Small room with either fan or air conditioner(blowing away from laptop)...Sorry my air con is located on top of my laptop table so can't get direct cool air here blush.gif

Condition of laptop
CPU=P8700 2.53GHz,RAM=3GB 1066MHz,GPU=HD4670 1GB GDDR3,HDD=320GB 7200RPM
Idling,running only HW monitor and GPU-Z and other background processes
CPU usage at constant 12%
Ram usage at constant 38%

.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
EXPERIMENT 1 :Without air conditioner usage(only fan)

Situation 1

Without cooler

CPU=38,GPU=54,HDD=38

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Situation2
With cooler

CPU=34,GPU=49,HDD=35

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
EXPERIMENT 2 :Air conditioned room with constant 22C temperature

Situation 1
Without cooler

CPU=40C,GPU=52,HDD=38

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Situation 2
With cooler

CPU=32,GPU=46,HDD=31 can bring this down to CPU=28C,GPU=42 if experimenting for longer hours

.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
1C was deducted from Processor and GPU temperatures because of the increased processor usage when using screen-snap programme(Sniping Tool)

p/s : These temperatures are still higher than what i normally have because i haven't run this machine for a longer period.The lowest average temperatures i got before were CPU=28C,GPU=41C,HDD=30C

Here's the screenshot

My honest opinion:
The Zalman NC2000 works best when paired up with an air conditioner.Looking at the temperatures, it doesn't fare too badly when used in a non-air conditioned room.The high quality materials used in the production of the NC2000 pretty much helps a lot in heat dissipation and aiding air-flow.And yes it's pretty cold due to its full aluminium body drool.gif Definitely worth the RM229 i paid biggrin.gif or could i find any better ones? brows.gif

Another note:Will update temperatures of full CPU and GPU load

Thanks so much for your pics. Now, I have a better vision on how it will looks like if I put a 14'' laptop on it. Anyway, do you think 14'' laptop fit this cooler?  hmm.gif

Besides that, why do you "cello tape" your speakers?
*
Looking at the dimensions......the ZM-NC2000 is still wider than my laptop by about 1 cm at both sides..Will definitely fit a 14" smile.gif

Errr...about the cellophane tape... laugh.gif There are dust getting stucked in the "holes"...once it's stuck,cannot get it out anymore.....2 spots of dust already entered and i can't get them out anymore sad.gif So if you're not using external speakers,just cover the hole-in my case i just cello tape it tongue.gif

this is the temperature inside a aircond room and NC2000 running at full speed
[attachmentid=1467543]

My average is around that too when using msn+firefox(6-7tabs)+other background processes

How is the improvement from your previous cooler? biggrin.gif

QUOTE(highwind85 @ Mar 5 2010, 11:04 AM)
It's ideal to have a cooler larger than your laptop, but it still can functions effectively even if the zalman cooler is smaller than your lappy if you really lack budget...
I'm using Zalman NC-1000 on my Benq S57 (15.6 inch)

With Zalman
[attachmentid=1468570]

Without Zalman
[attachmentid=1468572]

See the min and max temp..

TBH it's pretty hot there before and after.Were you gaming? tongue.gif
