Anyway I finally arrive in Malaysia and now typing with my G73JH. This thing is HUGE!!!!! & not use to this HD screen as my old lappy has only a 13" inch however this beast is still AWESOME!!! It is so so SO quiet!!! Make my fujitsu S2020 look like a san ba po. xD Can't wait to do a clean install and maybe upgrade to 209 BIOS as well..

Hmmmm, there's no other person in charge there to entertain u ? When I went to local customs the assistant head said I don't really need to pay the RM 18 declare form as it's a laptop. Even mention why simply listen to those pos laju ppl saying need to pay rm 18. Anyway I just want to get my laptop asap out of there but I think it took around 2 hours+.

Hope u can find the correct people to help u sort ur trouble. Else u might need to talk to the Malaysian embassy to help u sort it out. 19% is damn lot.

Added on June 5, 2010, 12:03 pmMake sure U back up the system 1st by creating the 6 DVD. Just in case u need to restore to stock. Alot suggest to upgrade bios via the bios menu there and load the file into a flashdrive. IF can make sure ur flash drive is reliable and fresh format. Have fun with ur new toy or babe.

I'm really disappointed with how they treated me yesterday. It's really a shame to know that the Germans are acting like barbarians. Most of the people queueing outside the room are shocked as they talked so load (as if I'm the one who is guilty one) and I'm talked gently with them. Currently, I'm finding the way to complain them but before that I'll try to find some stronger evidence to support me.

Thanks for your advice~ I actually bought an ASUS recovery DVD from the reseller site, will that be the same as the 6 DVD? Cos I know that some people have trouble backing up the 6 DVD so thought getting the recovery disc might be the same as the DIY backup disc. & would just like to ask if you know how to get a "clean" Window 7? I've looked at the method that Kalim suggested in Notebook review but as I'm a actually a noob I don't quite understand the getting a window 7 part. Maybe I should just buy a new version, would be easier. LOL

Yeah it was absolute amazing!! Everything is so fast!!!

When I first turn on the lappy it took only 30 seconds, maybe less (I have a SSD installed). I was shock and thinkin to myself, is it ready to go? As my old one normally took me 5 mins to get to the desktop and being fully functional xD i.e able to open any window without crashing it.

Wow, yours with SSD? You customized it before shipping it over to Malaysia? I'm really envy you guys can finally test the unit out.

yeah i'm too lazy to have to look for one and install myself (not like its so hard to install) so i just customise it before shipping... performance is absolutely spotless!

USD 15 for the recovery disc right ? And only cost me like 0.9 each sumore sony brand dvd-r . Well I installed a clean os on the other drive and dual boot. One os is the original and another is the new one. I still haven't activate yet. I believe u can activate it with the COA below ur lappy as the original os which comes with the os uses different serial no. I think it's not yet activated yet.

Anyway I sold off my lappy to a friend as he really liked it. So maybe I will be using the M15X for a while, sad news tho, coz of public holiday M15X cannot get yet, only tomorrow.

Anyway the G73JH is a very good lappy, I definitely will buy another unit

Hey Jeff, this sucks. However, you should have printed out the official notice from Germany's custom website that states as a student, you are exempted from duty. Or even get the exact website ready.
I am not sure what your email was regarding exactly, but if there are no response from them ( Ger Customs) then it is pointless.
Germans are very well known to be arrogant, so take your experience with a pinch of salt. Hope everything goes well for you soon.

1stly, I will print out the website which indicates that the students are not required to pay the import duty.
2ndly, I will wait for the e-mails from the Germany customs (Zoll) again as I have written them several e-mails last Friday.
3rdly, I will phone them (Zoll) if they do not reply me on Monday.

Hopefully, everything will go under control. I'm really tired to travel so far for only arguing with them. They said they will only "help" me to keep the notebook until 10 June 2010.

P/S: I will try to not interfere Malaysia Embassy on this matter 1st as I will try to settle it by myself.

it depends, some needs to go thru customs, but some not. like mine, it was delivered straight to my door and i was using USPS.

Actually getting our Malaysian Embassy to help us is their job, I don't think it would be a trouble, it might make those germans work faster too. The M15X arrived on saturday but since it's a holiday here, Had to wait for them to deliver. I tot can collect early morning but their driver edi sent out 8:15am.

So had to wait then. Well, the G73JH was sold coz my friend had to go overseas and once he saw my laptop he straight fall in love then check online mostly had to wait few weeks to months to get so he took mine instead. Funny thing tho, after restoring to factory mine never had gsod, he even tried crisis and everything is very smooth sumore on 1920X1080. He keeps on saying it's even faster than his desktop.
Actually I'm kinda itchy to test out 480 but so far haven't hear any good news bout it. Maybe will move to desktop 480 GTX.

If you can get hold of the Clevo/Sager model with the 480m GTX it would be great. For me, that will be something I will settle for once they've sorted out the drivers for SLi etc. It would be good to hear all the reviews on it before proceeding thou. Heat management etc......

Got the M15X around 1pm waited since morning 8am. Fedex is very fast as they delivered it on time. If not coz of saturday public holiday I think edi got it. Everything in order and I think the size also nice. But the screen and sound I still prefer G73JH.

Sager / Clevo can preorder edi, but starting around 2.2K usd. I don't think I dare to consider it yet sumore some say it's buggy. Like the 5870m sum get lucky no gsod sum unlucky. I solved it tho but must use factory drivers. If use latest 10.5 I get gsod.

Compare size M15X reli nice not too big not too small. Temps wise quite ok maybe it's still new. Since got back sum money I will be waiting for new offering from nvidia or ati. Who knows, if my friends find the M15X nice as well I might be hunting for sager then. 480 SLI, Raid, 17" with numpad. Bout numpad I still miss it coz M15X don't have it.
