If no one has posted bout it yet. The airport train is up and running now. Currently it only costs like 15 baht (Rm1.50) and it stops at BTS stations. Pretty good for those on a budget or accomodations near a BTS station.

Check the airporttrain schedule.http://www.bangkokairporttrain.com/time-table-route.html The train stops to join the Skytrain ( At Phaya Thai Stop ) and the MRT ( Phetchaburi station for MRT (subway) Blue line ). Note that only Express Train stop at Makassar ( interchange to MRT - Phetchaburi Station) This is much clearer . see http://bangkok.sawadee.com/airport/airport_link.htm Happy Journey. Anyway, here's how it looks like. Not the same like our KLIA Ekspress which has comfortable seatWell, if you are staying somewhere near the MRT you connect to the Makkasan station via Petchaburi station. U have to walk a bit - less than 1km. And Phayathai will connect to the BTS.MAkassan is a huge station. And they plan this station like KL Sentral and even bigger which allows you to check in your luggage to the respective airline in future. It is not fully in operation at the moment |

Hi,
Need advices from the thread as my family(6 adults) are planning for a holiday in BKK for the first time from Christmas till New Yr (about 7-10days). 1. Should I get a tour package or manage on our own? - Shopping malls and Chatuchak are our priority. 2. Any other hotel recommendations? - Just in case PR Place is fully booked. 3. Any recommendations on family-oriented places to celebrate Xmas and New Year in BKK? - Can't hit pubs or clubs coz of grandparents. Thanks a lot =) |

QUOTE(moody5 @ Sep 27 2010, 05:52 PM) price is true but additional mixer or ice will cost around 80-100 baht.Added on October 12, 2010, 11:41 am QUOTE(vroom_tech @ Oct 10 2010, 12:21 PM) Hi, 1. You can start planning your own. It's easy to plan for BKK trip. If you think it's difficult, then go for tour.Need advices from the thread as my family(6 adults) are planning for a holiday in BKK for the first time from Christmas till New Yr (about 7-10days). 1. Thanks a lot =) 2. which area you wish to stay and what's ur budget. for shopping purpose, i would recommend Pratunam area which is nearby to Platinum. I'd stayed in Budacco Hotel before. Nice and cozy. per nite is about 1500 baht for oriental room for 2 pax inclusive of breakfast. for upper market, you can try Centara which is smack right in Central World. It cost more but you'll pay for the price. Check some website for hotels. there's lots of hotel in bkk which is affordable. the price is much much cheaper compare to KL hotel. 3. hmm, i guess u can't hit to pub or club or even some adult entertainment area. best place is to visit night bazaar and then go back hotel for a rest. for youngster, can try hit to club such as CM2, bossy, or climax and some other club. Hi hi...just back from BKK (4D3N)...had a nice trip but tiring
I stayed in Imm Fusion Sukhumvit, where is walking distance (around 2-3 min walk) to On Nut BTS station (last station) and is near to Tesco Lotus supermarket. The hotel is clean and the staffs are friendly, it is worth for the price. I paid RM300 for 3 nights so is RM100/night and breakfast included. Breakfast so so only la..but with that kind of price, cant expect much la...hehe... I went to Platinum Fashion mall, chatuchak weekend market and Ancient City and i feel i dont have enough time for shopping. I wan go back there for shopping again!!! |

QUOTE(nicholastze85 @ Oct 17 2010, 11:18 PM) my god.. i bought my ticket on tuesday to friday... is it a big lose witout a visit to chatuchak nite market?? It's more like a morning market. Just got to know that it's open on weekdays as well but not applicable to all stalls though. I was once told by the locals that it's only open on weekends as the name says "Chatuchak Weekend Market".WED-THU (Plants & Flowers) 6.00 am - 6.00 pm. FRI (Wholesale day) 6.00 am - 6.00 pm. SAT-SUN (Miscellaneous) 6.00 am - 6.00 pm. I think it's up to individuals to determine whether it's a loss or not but for me personally, i would still visit Chatuchak again on my next Bangkok trip.. on a weekend, of course.
