April is a time when I'd rather stay in malaysia and enjoy the cool weather and occasional rain.

bangkok has dry spells that lasts for months. From feb to april/may, you hardly find any rain. And its hot. March and April hottest, can reach past 40C.
And in march, comes burning of paddy fields for later replanting. So the whole darn area is smoky and dusty.

Anyway, I find those clothing in bangkok is not really so cheap compare wth M'sia hor. but quality is better-lah.

Yes they have IT plaza just like Lowyat - Prontip plaza at Pratunam area. Not sure when the sales period.

But hor...All eletricla & most electronics & even computers are heavily & worst taxed than M'sia....Getting in Developed countries such as HK, Singapore & evenMalaysia cheaper lah..
*
I find that computer games, computer accessories, parts, RAM and HDD are cheaper than LYN/LYP and Sim Lim Plaza.
Their services are good and cheap like changing LCD, Ram, HDD, fans and skinning laptops. They have more variety - HI-end and low-end stuff, and you have more choice also.
They even have a shop in Prontip where you can see and touch the latest high end mobo & GPU of all the brands!

Pre-Buy the excess baggage will save you lots of money.

Their mens fashion is ok but no cheap. I find Hatyai carries better, high quality branded mens cloth than Bangkok. laugh.gif
For ladies, it is a lot better, got many many choices but NOT for ladies looking for XL, XXl and ...err... you get my drift. wink.gif

I dun really cheack those games & accesories bcos not so interested..probably locally produce accesories & therefore no import duties & thus cheaper there...but comparing their imported Notebook, handphones, TV, LCD & etc no cheap wor...

I remembered went in to Tesco Onnut & the normal china made aircon already selling THB16,000 & that's the cheapest liao..comparing to ~ RM800 china made aircon in m'sia..so do their whatever eletrical product..But locally product - yes ageed cheaper.

Well, if r heading there by AA then d cheapest baggage wud be 15kg follow by 20kg then 50kg.Well if there are 2 of u, then u wud have 30Kg. U dun need to buy baggage for 15kg each person when u r going to BKK. Take min clothes there.U can check in 2 big luggages as long as u dun exceed 15kg. Only purchase for 15kg x 2 pax for your return trip.

Just as happy4ever mentioned. I'm rather surprised to hear a woman say that clothes in Thailand are not cheaper then Malaysia!

From what I've seen (from following friends shopping of course, cross dressing ain't my forte!), clothes are generally cheaper overall.

But not to say everything is cheap there. Things like some electronics are a lil more expensive.

platinum mall i think? pratunam mall at the (+) junction on the way to gaysorn/isetan is quite a rundown mall that has uhm...fashion that most might not like tht much (most shops are NOT wholesale shops).

best place(s) to shop:
platinum mall and pratunam market. both at opposite front (edited* not end but front..haha. across the street. TYPO). wholesale area where mostly would want you to get 3 pieces minimum from their shops. also, do take not that some, especially at pratunam market(baiyoke area, you could see the tallest building in bangkok - baiyoke sky) do not allow you to mix and match. some would ask you to take all of the same or 3 of the same. but most would let you mix and match around the store.

do not misunderstand their way of not layan-ing you wen you try to bargain because for their wholesale area, they do not bargain as they charge both local and tourist the same price (most of the shops - because i understand a handful of thai, enough for me to shop around and simple communication). perhaps the thing tht you would want to negotiate on is the number of pieces that you need to buy coz it might be a feat to be able to get 3 pieces.

and owh...go to platinum food court(buy your preloaded card. they dont accept cash. you need to go to the credit counter to get the card). alot of food to choose from and it's packed 24/7!

*talking about all these make me wanna go back again tho i just got back. haha*

The full name of the mall is Platinum Fashion Mall but then my Thai friends keep on insisting it is Pratunam Mall >.< which made me confused

anyway, the Platinum Fashion Mall is just opposite of the Amari watergate

if u want to stay at pratunam area, Baiyoke Suit is the nearest n within your range of RM100-200. Citin Pratunam hotel also within the range, but just that if u r not very familiar with that area, there will be problem when u try to tell the taxi driver.
