No thanks. We will concede more goals with Given as our keeper. We are already shit at defending set pieces. Given is a world class shot stopper I give him that but I could actually count with my fingers how many times he actually comes off his goal line to claim a cross, a corner or a set piece for an entire season. The amount of goals City concedes through set pieces speak for itself even with pretty decent height and heading ability in their team IMO.

If its a goalkeeper we need its someone who has good command of his area and someone who is not afraid to come out and claim crosses. Not someone who hugs the goal line like Given.

I've posted these articles not too long ago, but I think they are worth reposting. Given is good, in fact better than Manny in certain aspects; but Manny on his day with his peroxide hair is a decent goalkeeper as well. We could potentially do better had we gotten ourselves a 'better' keeper, but the question is the same as any other position: 1.Who? 2.Can we afford him? 3.Does he want to come? 4.Is his club willing to sell?
