Thanks bro for the clarification.

Then, many other had misunderstood that Portsmouth is going for winding up order rather than just going into administration?

which means our 6 points gained from portsmouth will be left untouch yea?
*
Yup with Pompey going into administration, they will be decked with the points penalty which surely condemn them to relegation.Since they are still in the league, our points will remain untouched.

hahahaha.. kampung at klang... Kg Sungai Udang. ahaha... tomorrow i'll be there with my cousin. will send regards to kak In. hehehe..

Anyway, another good news regarding our financial status. To those who told us to spend, spend, spend... look at our debt la. we're 320Mil in debt last year. Without spending a lot, within the last year we've cut it down to 200Mil. Now that's good news. now we can restructure our player's wages and also might spring some surprise signing in the summer. Bravo to AW and the rest of the team.

Seems that Highbury square is the place to be nowadays. smile.gif sales been picking up and hopefully all units will be sold off soon. New development will come into play and this will definitely help with the club finances.

Yes, not many fans see Arsenal as a business unit, altho of coz the existence of Arsenal is still very much as a football club. Fact is, the new stadium made us a couple of hundred million poorer, but its important to have a new stadium if we want to compete with the best in the next 10 years or so.

Regarding the news that we managed to reduced the debts from 300 Million to 200 Million shows how strong our finances are and within the next 5 years, it would be even stronger and once we reduce our debts to a small figure, we'd be able to spend more on players and on development of younger players. Not many sees Arsenal from this point and most just look at news from websites that says Arsenal have money and therefore they should buy players.

Yes, there's money to be spent but AW looks at Arsenal as a business unit and not entirely as football club and this ensures our survival in the near future. If AW is just any other manager, he would have kept buying when we need players since there's money available. Afterall, he's only answerable to the football performance and nothing else. But no, thank God AW looks to the future and to ensure our survival, he invest carefully on players and looks to our youth. Can you guys imagine if we kept buying players and if for whatever reason we failed to qualify for UCL, we would have ended up like Leeds and now Portsmouth. End up selling their best players, sacking various managers and having to pay them compensation and getting lawsuits and etc. I cant help but feel for Pompey, FA Cup winners 2 years ago and they were looking pretty strong few years back. Now they're doomed to 2nd division and looking like they're gonna sell much more players and facing a meltdown like Leeds.

So guys, be thankful. We may not be winning but at least we're not facing a meltdown with the new stadium and so on.

I agree.I dread to even think Arsenal facing a meltdown like Pompey.Since I am in Portsmouth now, I can understand the nerve wrecking feeling of the buildup to their administration due to constant report/update of the local media. Now they became from FA Cup winners to 'case study' for 'how to destroy a club'..I am thankful for Arsenal being financially stable, but me being greedier than Cashley and Greedybayor,I want financial stability and the trophies thumbup.gif

As for Arsenal in terms of football , Arsenal nowadays always give me the impression of 'almost but not there yet' feeling and I hope our lads will prove me wrong.I know we had been unlucky for times but having gone 4 seasons straight without trophies would create some doubters and I certainly wouldnt call it unlucky. Having said that I would like to eat an 'Arsenal flavour' humble pie this season laugh.gif Sure it would be delicious.. icon_rolleyes.gif

we r financially stable, but not financially strong as per team like real madrid & barcelona, considering they didnt use much (or not use at all) the money from their owner(s).. i read in newspaper, the cost to buy ronaldo & kaka have already been offset with sales of their jerseys only (with kaka/ronaldo names)... their fan r dem hardcore.. to future improve the club, wenger shud learn from those 2 teams - how they utilize their money...

and of coz we shudn't b like manyoo (already huge in debt - even after sales of ronaldo) or pompey & can't afford 2 b like chelsux (owner simply write off debt with own money)

Exactly. Trophies are a bonus, but long term stability and sustainability while maintaining competitiveness is the club's utmost priority.
There are simply too many cases of clubs that went bust after building new stadiums or spending heavily on players. We are very fortunate that those involved in the Ashburton Grove plan has already settled everything before a brick was even laid down.

Real Madrid was involved in a series of controversies in the past where the city of Madrid bailed them out of debt by paying heavily inflated prices for their training zone. How true it is, only those involved will know; but the point here is that we can only depend on ourselves in terms of financial matters, which is what the Highbury Square flats and the Grove's ticket prices are for.

People tend to expect us to spend like those big clubs do, but the reality is that we still do not have the worldwide fan base of traditional big teams like MU, Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich etc do. Our status is more similar to teams like Valencia, Deportivo la Coruna, Bayer Leverkusen, Roma etc. And none of them are financially safe as we are, while teams like Lazio and Parma already went kaput and other former giants like Ajax, PSV are shades of their former glory. Ashburton Grove is only a stepping stone, it will take many years before we truly see the results.

A good article regarding the flak that Manny has been receiving:
http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/2010/02/a...onest/#comments
I still think we could achieve more with a better keeper, but as mentioned in the article it's really easy to overrate other keepers like Given because we simply don't watch them enough (or care enough) to remember their mistakes.

Nike just relased some of the new kits for WC10.

Brazil's template is quite nice; maybe we could get redcurrant collars with a touch of gold, full white sleeves up to the neck, and redcurrant dots in the underarm area to make it less plain.

halo....

Real Madrid and Barca are financially stable because they own a lot of real estate surrounding their facilities. That's what Arsenal been doing thus far. Highbury sq now beginning to realise it's potential. there are some more development coming up in the near future too.

FYI, the 2 tallest tower in Madrid was built on land owned by Real Madrid. This land alone gives RM about 800Mil euro. i suggest you go and read Real Madrid and Barca thread and find out more about their clubs from people who knows where and what to look for. People like verx in Real Madrid thread. very helpful and always on the money on RM facts.

our game against stoke nominated as upset of the weekend

QUOTE
UPSET OF THE WEEKEND: Stoke City v Arsenal

Arsenal's trip to the Britannia Stadium presents the best chance of a big upset this weekend.

Stoke are well-organised at home and physically strong while Arsenal can be the exact opposite, particularly at set-pieces - Stoke's forte.

Sol Campbell has to play for Arsenal if they are to match the Potters' muscle - they have no one else who is prepared to put their heads where it hurts. It's not going to be pretty and while Campbell is limited on the floor, his prowess will be needed in the air.

But it is not just a physical advantage that Stoke hold over Arsenal - the Gunners are not mentally strong enough either. Arsene Wenger always seems to have his excuses ready before the game and they are more often than not wheeled out afterwards too when things do not go to plan.

I can't understand why Stoke get knocked for their style of play. It's not against the rules to play to certain strengths and if launching long throws work for them, so be it. There's no shame in using that to their advantage.

Stoke are becoming an established Premier League side - and they deserve to be. They are the kind of team who should be in the top flight - they're a big club, well-supported and with a lovely stadium.

Their progress was evident in the FA Cup earlier in the season when they beat Arsenal 3-1 at home and it would take a brave man to bet against them repeating that feat on Saturday.

time to prove this fella wrong. lets grab 3 points and shut anyone that we cant encounter physical oppositions
