Collectively we have the worst bunch of goalkeepers in the Champions League and possibly even in the BPL IMO. Simply not good enough.
Arsene simply has to buy a new No.1 in the summer otherwise its curtains again before the season starts. Its not that I'm being pessimistic about our goalkeepers' ability but sometimes we just have to face up to the reality that certain players are just not good enough. Nasri and Denilson again with virtually zero contribution. Seriously this same squad will most likely struggle again against Sunderland this weekend. No cutting edge up front no nothing. Pray hard the likes of Song and Arshavin recovers in time. The only shining light tonight was Sol's performance. Really turning back the clock. I doubt Gallas could have done any better than what Sol did tonight. |

QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Feb 18 2010, 01:34 PM) I don't know too much about the rules, but more often than not the keeper is allowed to pick up the ball once he has received it with his feet. It is not uncommon for keepers to receive a back pass, wait for the opponent striker to come, and then scoop it up for a throw or a kick if he feels there is danger. It's only illegal if the defender passes directly into the keeper's hands, and frequently indirect freekicks are given. If it was a backpass from any other part of the body then yes Fabianski is allowed to do so but if the backpass is done intentionally from the feet then its illegal regardless whether he controlled with his feet or any part of the body first.http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xc9qv9_por21 Again, I could be wrong and am happy to be corrected if so. The goal should stand unfortunately, as it was scored in a legal manner. Whether the ref got it wrong to begin with doesn't change the fact that Luk was horrible in dealing with the second goal. In the replay you can clearly see Sol shaping up to sidefoot a pass back to Fabianski however from those replays it is still hard to determine if Sol's feet actually touched the ball. Sol might have miscued with that sidefoot and did not touch the ball leading Fabianski to think that it was safe to catch the ball. |

Sigh now Diaby had a medial knee ligament injury against Porto and will be out for quite awhile.
Almunia and Song back. Arshavin, Gallas and Eduardo still out. |

If that is indeed the new home jersey then I don't think I'll be buying it IMO. Will be targetting the away one instead. Don't get me wrong it looks great but I could magically turn that white collar into yellowish brown after just 1 wear

QUOTE(cry4freedom @ Feb 27 2010, 10:44 PM) No thanks. We will concede more goals with Given as our keeper. We are already shit at defending set pieces. Given is a world class shot stopper I give him that but I could actually count with my fingers how many times he actually comes off his goal line to claim a cross, a corner or a set piece for an entire season. The amount of goals City concedes through set pieces speak for itself even with pretty decent height and heading ability in their team IMO.If its a goalkeeper we need its someone who has good command of his area and someone who is not afraid to come out and claim crosses. Not someone who hugs the goal line like Given. |

Damn. Watching LIVE the tackle didn't look that bad at first glance IMO. Pretty shocked to see the amount of damage it did. Best wishes to Ramsey and his career. Would be a shame to lose a real talent like that.

As much as I feel for Ramsey there is no way anyone could blame Shawcross IMO. It was a 50/50 ball and it is only unfortunate Ramsey was the quicker of the 2. By the time Ramsey got to the ball Shawcross was already sliding in at full speed and there is no way Shawcross or any other human being for that matter that could have pulled away in time.
Btw Song will be suspended for 2 games after receiving that yellow card last night. It was his 10th IIRC please correct me if I'm wrong. So no Song, no Ramsey and no Diaby for the next 2 games at the very least. Sigh from a central midfield cluttered with talent to the bare bones in less than 2 weeks. |

QUOTE(Breaktru @ Feb 28 2010, 02:41 PM) Yeah , we're going to miss Song alright . Next 2 games are Burnley and Hull . Arshavin maybe Diaby no. How long Diaby is out is still a mystery, even to Arsene who admitted awhile back it was an injury out of the blue but judging with what was said about Diaby's injury (Medial Knee Ligament) I will not be putting my hopes up too high that he will be back so soon.Diaby and Arshavin will be back by then , I'd prefer Diaby , Cesc and Rosicky to rotate in the midfield . Just not Denilson please . |

Kudos to Bendtner and Eboue as well who was by Ramsey's side comforting and keeping him company throughout the time from the injury till he left on the stretcher when other players couldn't even bare to look.

QUOTE Official statement - Aaron Ramsey's injury On Sunday, Arsenal Football Club released the following statement: “During yesterday’s match against Stoke City, Aaron Ramsey sustained fractures to the tibia and fibula in his right leg. Yesterday evening he underwent surgery. "The operation successfully reduced the fractures and whilst it is too soon to state an exact timescale for recovery, Aaron will certainly miss the remainder of this season. Our thoughts are with Aaron at this time and everyone at the Club wishes him all the best in making as speedy a return to action as possible.” Arse.com Get well soon Aaron ! |

Here is a great discussion IMO re: Ramsey injury by the panel of "The Sunday Supplement" on Sky. Both Patrick Barclay and Neil Custis has been brutally honest about the issues at hand and pretty much hit the nail on the head with their points IMO.
P/S: Ignore the c**k from the Independent though whose name I won't even bother to remember or mention. The Sunday Supplement Ramsey Injury Discussion |

Cripes I'm getting sick about all these "Shawcross had no intention or had intention" to break Ramsey's leg crap.
The bottomline is the kind of force that could break a man's tibula and fibula should never be put into a tackle in the first place. |

Nasri comes close as MOTM but Walcott's crucial goal at a very crucial stage just edges it into his favour IMO

Bendtner was wasteful in front of goal but his general play was good. I wouldn't be too worried bout yesterday's misses. Every striker has one of those days occasionally but fortunately for us it didn't prove costly.

As much as I'm enjoying the current scoreline there are still a few concerns IMO.
Although looking like he could produce that bit of magic and produce another goal for us at any minute Arshavin's casualness and sloppiness could cost us a goal at any minute as well. Nasri looked like he has done his hammie and really looked less mobile from before he was strapped. Fingers crossed its nothing serious IMO. |

QUOTE(taingonghai @ Mar 10 2010, 05:42 AM) Please go hang urself and dai now. No need for you to come back later and yap "ooo arsenal win wenger is god". To be fair he has a point IMO. Nasri obviously felt something in his hamstring hence the strapping earlier in the game. It will be sh*t for him to get injured again especially when he looks to be in the form of his life right now..|. |

QUOTE(toshio14 @ Mar 10 2010, 05:46 AM) GET IN!!!! 5 STARS GUNNERS!!!! IMO you left out the 2 corners Eboue took. They were top class. Almost RVP like. Eboue should be taking all the corners from now on short summary : 1. Nik get his 1st hattrick (IINM) for the club. god knows what'll that bring to an already very confidence young man. well done! 2. painfully clear that Samir is a lot better played in the middle. excellent game capped by excellent goal 3. Andy had a weird game. he actually was well below average in his game tonight, yet get a hattrick of assist. that's Andy for you, looks like having a crappy game and then bang! he make something out of nothing 4. we kept a clean sheet. yeay 5. Manu Eboue scored This post has been edited by sigheart: Mar 10 2010, 05:50 AM |
