At last a in for Arsenal after back to back defeats.

An assessment of the game: We played MUCH better than we played at ManU and Chelsea.Though for the Chelsea game,we went up against a discipline defence.

Song and Diaby I think is the new central midfielder pairing and i think the best, better than Song and Denilson, cause they just break up play and really link up well with attack right now.Denilson I think is going through the pahse that Nani goes through:played bad for a few games, demoted or rest by the manager, comes back with a bang.

Good luck on the next one for us then.Porto right? And after that?

bendtner as a focal point...i can see arshavin was more comfortable last nite with a central forward in front of him...

I'm sure if a normal genius like me can see that when you play Bendtner up front, it frees up Arshavin and lets him to what he does best while also offering much more threat in attack in the form of Bendtner himself, so can a super genius like Wenger.

But seriously, until RVP returns, start Bendtner! The guy is confident, isnt afraid to shoot, can head, and has some bloody good link-up play.

This is why Arsene mentioned that his decision to add any new strikers depends on Nik's recovery. Nik is a player who offers a different aspect to our attack, and despite his poor first touch he always keeps on charging at the opponents and giving them trouble. Which is something that our other pint-sized forwards don't offer.

As long as Nik is fit, he will start. Either as a centre forward or on the right doesn't matter; the dynamism of our forwards' movement is more important than their starting position.

pick this up from soccernet.com in the fans correspondent section :-

Jack Wilshire was exactly as advertised: menacing on the ball, even in his own half, comfortable all over the field and always had enough time on the ball to pick out a pass or jink past his man. Theo Walcott should be very worried.

having read this, i downloaded the game and true enough, Wilshere did have a good game. hopefully he can stay healthy and get more games. Probably help them stay up.. and yeah, i agree with the writer... walcott should be worried. biggrin.gif

Bro, I have a feeling Walcott is already worried... Coz even Eboue offered more of a threat than him!!

And bro... The whole Diaby thing last year just proves that Arsene knows more than any of us!! laugh.gif

Added on February 12, 2010, 9:24 amOh and that whole "Fabregas' little toe was on the line, that's why it should be a penalty" thing...

I don't get it.

I'm no expert and (as usual) I'm too lazy to research, so let me just use logic here.

Let's take another scenario as an example - If the ball was in the field of play, but the player is outside the touch line, but prevented the ball from going across, the ball is still in play right?

So if the ball was outside the penalty box, and Cesc handled it outside, but his foot was on the line, why should it be a penalty? The ball was outside the penalty box right?

Same thing should apply!

bendtner is still need to work harder to be a good striker...
But to play bendtner as striker is definitely more attack options then play arshavin as a lone striker...
Saha is so good, how nice if we got Saha, but without injury one... >"<

wow, cashley cole injured 3 months, dono got effect on world cup o not blush.gif

Walcott is still young. I'll prefer him any time of the day than Lennon. He's improving. Having the no. 14 shirt is not an easy task for any teenager, I'm sure he'll be superb not just for Arsenal but for England in future. May be and just may be, he'l blossom at the end of the season.

To block his face ? U need to see the replay again I think. His hand was on top of his head la. & to raise Ur hand during a freekick (if Ur in the wall) is not in any teams defensive manual, I can assure U tht. Even when U defend a live ball in a penalty box also U shudn't raise Ur hand.

I'm not trying to put any blame on Fabregas here. Just that, we were very, very lucky in that sense this morning. Just think of wht would happen if Howard Webb gave them a freekick just at the edge of the box, or red-carded Fabregas for deliberate handball (he was already on a yellow), or worse.. penalty. Haih....

Sorry for quoting you but I just simply choose 1. I just want to say guys forget it. End of the day we won. Even if Fabregas had delibrately handled the ball, so what? Karma is a big b*tch. It's not as if Liverpool never got the rub of the green in terms of refereeing decisions against us. Champions League quarters 2 seasons ago, anyone?

Honestly if you ask me, Walcott is too one dimensional. I've said it before and to many other friends, he's over rated and besides his speed, he offers literally nothing. And really, when he's pitched next to equally fast fullbacks like Evra, he's nullified very easily. I think we've been too patient with him, Wenger keep saying he needs time but im afraid he doesn't have hell lots of time to develop, especially the standard of rising stars in EPL are getting younger and younger at 18 and above. Theo's already 21 i think.

With Eboue, i think he's prolly one of those supersub type of players. Put him in extended games, he wont shine as much as being a super sub and coming in as a player that could bring an extra something to the team. One thing i must comment about Arsenal is their tendency to overplay in the final third of the pitch. You look at the game against Man Utd and Chelsea and how we failed miserably in the final third where Cesc, Rosicky, Nasri and Arshavin seems not interested to hit and try abit too much intricate play. There's excessive passing in the attacking section while exposing themselves dearly in counter attack. That was exactly how we got hit by Man Utd and the Chelsea's 2nd goal.

And yeah, got to agree with you guys, NB52 may not be the most clinical striker but what he does quite effectively is to drag the defender away and put other players into play. Thats exactly what Eboue does and there will be matches where we need to play Eboue and NB52 to drag defenders out of position. There will be matches where we need a more one touch approach. Finding the balance is important.

Anyways, the Liverpool win was a massive result, much like how we overturn the Chelsea 3-0 bashing we took and then turning it around with a 2-1 win at Liverpool. Good news is that we dont have to face the big 3 again towards the end of the season altho smaller teams still do pose a threat.

anyhow it it important to maintain consistency..
although the big 3 game is no longer needed, but the threat from other smaller clubs need not to be taken lightly

well that's because to win or not depends on how the 2 leading teams doing in coming fixtures
so we can only do our best and win all the remaining matches and see how things go
