that Tyrannosaurus pic is fantastic! BTW HDR is not about making the photo look fake and CGI-ish. Most HDRs we see which have halos and extreme effects are overcooked. HDRs are supposed to look like how mastering89 did it.
If you look closer enough still can see faint halo though, if you're into that kind of thing. Departures.Arrivals. ![]() Applied 'aged photo' preset. Cropped. |

noobie1, DJFoo000 is correct. in fact, those halo-ish so-called HDR are so cliched.
allow me to share some great HDR shots found on google i absolutely ADORE/LOVE/RESPSECT/FALL IN LOVE with this 1st image ![]() » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE It is estimated that our eye can see over a dynamic range of nearly 24 f-stops while a digital camera can capture a dynamic range around 6 to 9 f-stops at best. quote source this is one of the reason we make HDR (high dynamic range) images, so that it replicates what the eye can see. the cartoonish outcome, what i think is just a by-effect of a non-complete HDR editing - they went, "hey, this looks pretty cool and new... let's see how will ppl react to these type of images", the reaction got good and hence, it got stuck at how HDRs 'should' look like... (this paragraph is solely my own personal opinion, feel free to correct me if you know the actual truth) This post has been edited by lwliam: Jun 8 2010, 06:11 PM |

the HDR was not meant for cartoonish or unreal look, but more to expose the dark parts of a picture correctly (if hdr being done correctly). it is to replicate how our eyes see, but if overly done can become cartoonish and that halo thingy.
like for example this original picture (left) and HDR + saturated (right). the left one are exposed correctly for the sky part, but underexposed for the pharoah lifting the stone. HDR is done to correct the exposure for the underexposed site ![]() ![]() usually HDR images would be abit cartoonish and that halo thingy. i'm using the pseudo-HDR which creates a HDR image from 1 exposure (1image file) only. here's the Halo Matrix editing style ![]() This post has been edited by mastering89: Jun 8 2010, 06:44 PM |
