very nice colors in the pic, apart from the distracting watermark

over-tilting sometimes can kill a nice photo. try about 15-30 degrees of tilt as a starting point. (does not apply to all photos) but i love your lomo-ish PP style.

PP ? photoshop ? or PowerPoint ?@@
*
PP here 99% of the time would mean post processing as not everyone would use photoshop for their editting work.

nice shot there, but if you can brighten up your subject a bit will be a lot nicer.  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

this is a simple example.  rclxms.gif

i like the way you bumped up the levels and color on the girl, but try not to clip the highlights at the same time as well, this is to keep the details in the snow. that's one of the purpose camera IQ tends to underexp bright pics. i'd normally look at the histogram and pull the slider right till the edge, then stop. if the subject's still insufficient, use masking with a 3-4px feathered edge

@achew, yeah, i understand that theory... its just that i wish to know what do ppl judge when they say so, and if i agree with it, then why dont i see it in that point of view in the 1st place. i do not wish to intimidate or anything biggrin.gif

lol. he probably said that because of the circular shapes u got in the background. no need to think so much le ;p how about urself? why did u like the shot?

*
i think you got me wrong, that photo isnt mine. i didnt say i like it, neither do i dislike it. its just that the photo doesnt say anything. just a head and a lot of spots at the back, which in many cases, would be quite a distraction away from the subject matter. if those were lights at night, then that would be another case altogether, but then it would still need proper framing to get the effect right.

totally awesome! notworthy.gif

IMHO, its better to mask the gradient along the river bank, dont let the lower color spill onto the trees, coz the whites on the leaves are what making the pic stands out in terms of IR photos. i'd probably leave out the foreground and let the treeline grab the attention from the viewer. but kudos to you anyway
