I did my research, and I don't mean blame solely on the petshop. Coz my pet die in less than 2 weeks, n during the time I bought I did ask to send them to check-up b4 I buy. Yet the shop refused me, and told me they got life guarantee. In the end, money refund is just what I got. cry.gif
That's y for godsake long I don't dare to buy another one anymore...I just looking for a guide n recommendation from u all sad.gif

crazymouse_yyh and reanne are highly reccomended breeders...but be sure to do your research and able to answer questions if they ask..

if u are in a tight budget i suggest u just safe up and get later instead...coz to start up this hobby for having sg as pets is not cheap..u need to get suitable cage, supplements, food and vet checkups...the maintainance cost is not so much as starting up this hobby...

just read up and prepare youself..when u got the knowledge u know which joeys or sg to choose and most common senario is buying underage gliders..beware of this very important criteria..so just get yourself educated on glider care and to see if this pet is suitable for u in your daily life coz sg need your time commitment as well as lots of patience, tender love and care

What kind of price is affordable/reasonable/cheap price to you?

@aldarisgan, i don mean to put the blame on you too. At least now you putting effort to learn more about gliders. There are few home breeders who sell healthy gliders in LYN, but there are some mass breeder too who sell underaged and unhealthy gliders at 'cheap' price. For petshop, so far I only know PetShack who sell healthy gliders.

Hi i wouldnt say that there is any affordable/cheap price for suggies. If from the start you are expecting to have everything cheap, then if i may say so this is not the pet for you. You can have a look at this article i lay'ed out before about the real costs of keeping a glider - http://alturl.com/x38u

Price wise, most of them are of coz over RM250 at least.. Petshops even worst more than RM300 over. The latter one, of coz u dont know what kind of health issues they have. If its too cheap also, sometimes u dont know what is their condition.

simply says...

to become owner of sugar glider, money is important.

if you are not willing to spend big amount of money, better don't.otherwise suggie will end up eat what you eat.we don't want that.

i am practically supporting this as an expensive hobby.any attempt say like want to find cheap glider, will lead you to unhealthy sugar glider.price war will leads to cheap price and over breeding.someday, some stupid breeder with lots of joey going to kill them or simply release them on our local jungle.disturbing the fauna.

links provided by SCC above is good.make sure you can follow it otherwise forget about 'tis bela bela thing'.

why?simply because SCC is one of the notable experts.

i also do support the right to live.means that unhealthy and underage sugar glider also have right to live but it must been in a care of an experts.

just went to a pets hop in Mines.i saw three little underage with wet tails.2 were crumpling and hiding-the cold.another one eating a rotten apples.there is one aunt with her son and daughter..i went to them and say " don't buy these creature.they will bee dead soon in 2 months" and i show them my glider for comparison.

1.want to save an underage glider in a pet shop?be a good and expert first.

2.no money to buy a glider?get your funds.kumpul duit or ask help from your parents.

3.still asking what food suitable for sugar glider?then don't buy them , yet.u have no enough confident to get one.

3.new owner thinking he/she is ready and want to buy pair of sugar glider?well, think twice again.you still not ready yet.

@lori - lol lorry, im not really a notable expert, but i do have some common glider knowledge.. I would be more happy to share with anyone. smile.gif I just love doing research that is all XD

@Sodox - I will say quite frankly.. NONE of the sellers in mudah boleh pakai one.. 1st, most of them sell underaged joeys. 2nd, they know NOTHING about a glider's diet & lifestyle. 3rd, to them housing gliders in a hamster cage is OK! sleep.gif 4th, usually they will say, you feed apple and dog food can already.. >_> 5th, they sell in pairs for cheap. BUT they sell male x female pairs to push sales fast. These pairs could very well be siblings, and for a new glider owner, i dont think they are ready for breeding. All these the sellers wont say to you one.

As for expenses, i can safely say i can spend almost close to RM200 per month for all the gliders that i have. That includes their diet, fresh fruits and veges and as well as treats. So maybe a pair could be around RM50 or more depending on what diet you give. Remember fresh fruits and veges is needed daily.. You might have to buy these every 3-5 days. You know lah they spoil easily XD

Don't put the blame solely on Petshops, owner need to bear big responsibility too.

If you have done your research on gliders, no matter dealing with petshop or home breeder, u will able to identify whether the joey is healthy or not..
