yeah..and nope, nexus one does not have that feature..and I think its good..coz the screen is so bright..so vivid, that if you put any filters on this baby, you will waste your couple thousands money invested! It has a pouch too so I'm not using any screen protectors whatsoever..I never even used a screen protector in my Hero and until today I've maintained it scratchless smile.gif When I bought the Hero, I did try to find one, but since it was a new device back then, the screen protector was a rare find..After a week, when I didnt saw any scratches and was getting more and more comfy, I just didnt bother about it anymore wink.gif

Nice review. for the voice cancellation, you meant the noice cancellation feature? Anyhow I think the unit warms up primary if you switch on the wifi or when it's connected. You may want to perform some test as I discovered my 3gs unit is slightly warm during surfing. But when gaming or fooling around with the apps. Even on aggresive usage the isn't that much of heat generated. I bet the same is on nexus one.

I'm curious on the voice to text feature. Is it really that bad? They do have some dictation configuration where by you undergo some simple setup and the phone will adopt to your accent. Increasing the recognition dramactically.

I was with bahathir this evening. I don't even know how to add APN setting. until i met the second customer who pressed the correct (2nd from left) button. We tested the Voice to Text as well. in a noisy environment, it doesn't do a good job. I've tested Mobile Google apps in Iphone in a quiet room, and I think it's quite impressive. I nexus should be perform the same in a quiet room.

Good question. If you're using Hero, then you are seriously going to love this Calendar coz its hella of an improvement..You want me to define it for you? Think of a "scaled-down Outlook calendar"..thats what you get for the Nexus One calendar wink.gif

Chill bro..Believe me, its worth the wait.. smile.gif I was waiting for almost a week too and I understand how you felt..But when you get it in your hands, you don't bother about the time you spent waiting..coz its just worth it..The feeling is wonderful smile.gif Its like "diamonds for ladies, N1 for geeks" smile.gif

Yeah, I meant the noise cancellation..Well, the unit warm up is significant though..At one point, you actually are alarmed with a thought "is this my palm heat?"..Anyway, today I have been playing for sometime, even made almost 45 mins call but the unit has not heated up today..Rather a weird scenario really..

As for the VTT, I will do another testing for you and see how it goes smile.gif

heat is the main killer for electronics gadgets.

so, about the heat, is it possible that after long usage + charging will burn the phone internal IC??

any1 encounter any phone that generates such kind of heat b4?

maybe turning off some fancy apps in the phone will reduce the heat?

still thinking whether shud i get the phone or not? dilemma, dilemma.

Ok, after several hours of uage, here is my initial first impression.

1) Look nice, and seem solidly build.
2) The texture of the N1's back, is about similar to my GPS, Garmin Nuvi 755T.
3) Aha, I got the engraved N1. It is a real engrave and it is not a paint coat.
4) I got Celcom 3G (voice+data plan), and with proper APN setting I got a 3G connection.
5) Connection wise, in my house@Balakong, seem to be similar what my Nokia E52. Yeah, I can get good 3G coverage, but, sometime it down to E or GPRS.Actually similar to my E52 and my wife's SE K770i. I'll try again if I going out later.
6) Yeah, the signal bar dropped 1 bar if I hold it.
7) The firmware/software version IS SAME AS the shahz's.
8) Since this is my first SMARTPHONE, I have to get used to it first smile.gif...
9) My first apps is... the 'Terminal Emulator' smile.gif
10) I changed the scaling_governor for cpufreq from the ondemant to conservative. This make the N1 to set the cpu speed lean towards to much lower speed. I hope I can save a bit more of power.
11) Yeah it is 'warm' when, I do intensive browsing and settings.
12) I charged my N1 with my Nokia E52's charger smile.gif... Yes, it warm during the charging. It is warm, NOT the hot sizzling hot.. The warmess is about similar as my RAZR V3xx and E52.
13) Yeah, the 'hard buttons' on the bottom is not responsive as other places in the middle of the screen. BUT, I still use it comfortably as I get used to it.
14) N1 is running cool with USB charging. So the heat source is most probably from the high currnet (1A) battery charging from wall charger. IMHO... this is normal.

Ok, I already test the audio SQ very very briefly....
1) With my custom IEMs, UM Mages, the sound is ... flat, with no bump at any frequency spectrum,
2) To my ears, the bass and treble extension is not as wide as other high quality audio devices. BUT, still listenable
3) The audio ouput is just OK, and not as loud as my E52 and Sony Walkman X1000. This is might be the reason the sound is not as dynamic and extended as my Sony Walkman x1000.

I'll update this later.

As a person who just get to know Android and smartphone. My intial verdict : NICE. Actually it is about the same feeling when I use my friend's iPhone 3Gs.
As a hardcore GNU/Linux user : EXCELLENT!!!, excellent computing platform.

Ok... going back to Market smile.gif

Thanks to shahz, irwan, ... that make this possible.
Thank you

I added my N1's HOME screenshot smile.gif
