Here we go...

First of all, today's to-do list: POP3 downloading and testing, Bluetooth file transfer and....GMaps! wink.gif

Bahathir, Here are the infos:
Model: Nexus One
Firmware Version: 2.1
Baseband Version: 32.19.00.16U_4.02.02.14
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-gad36b87 android-build@apa26 #1
Build Number: ERD79

Bahathir, can't wait for you to get your N1 too! biggrin.gif Its gonna be awesome!
Considering the voice, trust me, its not as bad as you guys are thinking it is..You got two options:
1. Go with a normal phone which will have a noisy background and chances that you can't make the other person understand a single thing
2. Go with Nexus One which will have reduced amplitude, but clean, noiseless sound

razorboy, with all the costs, calculated, its RM2700

hengsin, I've been using that on my N95 and Hero all this while too..I still wish I had the Skype app since its the only thing I use in Fring and Nimbuzz

Aurora, battery drain is not significant yet..Abiding physics law, by right, heat = more energy wasted.. The battery consumption is not bad..but that means it can be IMPROVED if the heat can be reduced..I'm crossing my fingers in hope that its a ROM bug..Then we have a chance to get it fixed on MoDaCo Custom ROM wink.gif
Signal strength is the first thing I look on all my phones I have ever had..I thought I was the only one..until bahathir confessed it too! Haha..
i'm, getting -63 dBm 25asu

hengsin, exchange is supported..but i will not test it though..I will just test POP3 over SMTP..

mox, it does have chinese support (if you switch the language) smile.gif However, I'm definitely not testing that as I can't read/write chinese..haha..We can ask others (maybe tera? if they can test that feature for you guys later)

Tera, sure..I did upload on YouTube too yesterday smile.gif Here it is..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaLbyeej_tM

garytey my HD videocamera is being used by my parents and they are in Holand currently..Sorry about that blush.gif

maiself..I really would post HD if the vid recorder was here..hehe

The amoled..Another MUST addition on the review..How can I miss that? This is very important!
The screen, really is SUPERB! There is a power controller widget which has these buttons:
1. Wifi
2. Bluetooth
3. GPS
4. Sync
5. Screen Brightness <-- This button is my favorite!

The screen brightness button dynamically changes the screen brightness..There are 3 levels..
First level is very dark..Excellent in uses when you are in a dark room (I used this in my bedroom yesterday and it was very relaxing to my eyes)..
Second level increases the brightness for normal brightness usage like indoor daytime usage..
Third level increases it even more..Thats for your outdoor usage..This brightness can actually be used in all conditions as its just makes the colors vivid!

Now, u must be wondering "where the hell did the auto-dim feature go?"..Its still there..Under those three levels, it does vary the brightness in those three levels too depending on the amount of light available..The button is for your own usage..For your own relaxation..Especially if you're a heavy user like me and will be using it over long hours smile.gif

Under the sunlight, there is one drawback undeniably which is the sun glare on the screen..It was still useable though..
Comparing to Hero, Hero had less glare, but screen less bright compared to Nexus One..

There have been reports on the new now that say baseband version 32.19.00.16U_4.02.02.41 have 3g issue but most 32.19.00.16U_4.02.02.14 work just fine ( note the reverse of the last 2 digit ). Looks like you are the lucky one smile.gif

YAY! tongue.gif

bluetooth tested guys!!added to the review too..

Bluetooth was tested between the Nexus One and the macbook. I paired the device. A pairing I have never done before. Both macbook and Nexus One displayed the same pairing code (without my input!). I dont know how it happens. Unlike other bluetooths where I have to enter the pairing code, this didnt have to. After the auto-pairing, I transferred a few files at an average transfer speed of 130Kbps..It started off at 172Kbps then slowed down to 130Kbps thus maintaining the speed around that point..Not bad..Although I'm much of an SSH / FTP over Wifi fan since you can get speeds like 1 - 3 Mbps tongue.gif

They just need to surf to http://www.google.com/phone and order it online from there with a credit card, and the phone gets shipped to their doorstep.

Shahz,

What's the story with Paid Apps on the Nexus with a Maxis SIM? Still no go?

I'm kind of hoping that it'd be possible, since when the older phones were sold through carriers 30% of the revenue would go to the carriers, and with the nexus being carrier-free, they might not need to check which carrier your SIM card is from.

Then again there's also the silly wanting to cater for "sales tax" reason.

MarketEnabler doesn't run on 2.0+/Nexus right? I might have to keep my G1, buy apps there, and transfer them over to the Nexus manually then ...

Regards,
.sha

shahada,
No paid apps on this one yet. Remember, Malaysia is not yet supported with Nexus One..We're bringing it in by force..When iPhone was initially released, remember Malaysians being unable to even make an account on iTunes? smile.gif
At least we are still lucky to have the FREE apps available to us..
I have not rooted the phone yet..I'm gonna use it for a week I guess before rooting it..Then I will test spoofing the carrier for paid apps smile.gif

Good Question though smile.gif

dennis5585, you are absolutely right..There is no need for it smile.gif In fact, you just need to buy a small converter adapter that can convert the legs into conventional ones and you're good to go..I believe that adapter will cost not more than RM10..lol
