Cassie,
Good for you. If only the competition was in KL, haiz sad.gif Dont depend too much on duet. I think you should draw on audition experience to face this competition. All the best to you.

Ooi had suddenly decided to play silent now.

Ooi,
Why so quiet. If it make you feel better you can play with my guzheng. You should thank Subang for making this suggestion. You dont have to bring your piano along. I was just joking when I said that at your thread. You must bring your father along though.
*
haha yes i do knw u are jk about my piano.. Quiet..am i? My father along ..wow why.. I prob play some random irritatin sounds frm ur guzheng since i dunno how to play it yet..haha..

Oh cassie, yes tats right there are so many interesting instrument in the world.. Best of luck wit tat competition! Actually, i'm wondering wat u guys do for a living..

Phil,
How did the concert go yesterday? What song did you play?

Concerning the link about the string. I doubt you get anything out of it for now. It seems like the forumer is asking how good is the scarlett bird string. What it means by this and that? Is it good? Perhaps when some knowledgable forumers give an appropriate answer you can benefit form it.

As to Eason in Singapore, they had my guzheng model on the link you provide. It was like RM1500 more expansive then the price I paid for my guzheng in Macau. Anyway I bought an instrument tuner from them. My brother was in SG so no transport cost for me.

You may want to look for guzheng string locally. It cost about RM5 per string (somewhere in Petaling Street area). I doubt our ear could hear the difference.

Phil,
On this matter, Phil you are the most knowledgable among us as a Shanghai Consevertory Graduate. Could your ear hear the difference between high end string and average ones.

Added on July 5, 2010, 2:34 pmCassie, perhaps you can form a duet band with your new found twin. laugh.gif

The concert went great, all tickets sold out and full house. I played Jay Chou's song, "Chrysanthemum terrace"

As for strings, actually it make not much difference for guzheng, I just use any brand available smile.gif High end strings are just high on the price probably nod.gif

Who wants guzheng I can recommend you some good quality and cheap one.

Micheal Jackson had a hit song called "PYT". The lyric revealed that PYT was the anchronym for "Pretty Young Thing". Every since then there had been many variation to PYT. It is up to your imagination. S = Sweet.

Thanks for the info Phil.

Subang,
I guess you will still go ahead and try the high end strings anyway. I think you will still adopt the "belum cuba belum tahu" appraoch to this matter.

Yes, the change in avatar reflect that recent changes in my appearence. I had a hair cut two days ago. I had decided to go back to a boy's hairdo. Now, I look like the guy next door. Back when we meet for the MPO concert, Empire and Subang had no problems finding me. smile.gif

Luckily, I have not grown fatter. It is a lyn program that streches the picture to fit their allocate dimension. That had cause the picture to appear fatter. Since you mentioned fat, I think I will redraw the picture for the avatar. Thanks for the comments.

Subang,
You got nobody in your office that can speak mandrin meh? I thought you done enough business in china to know mandrin. I had a weird way with mandrin. When I hear mandrin I must see the chinese character in my brian. By the time I can picture the character, the speaker would had spoken one paragraph long sad.gif

Carol from Sounds of China is a nice lady and very professional. I almost purchase my guzheng from her. My main consideration was getting the cheapest set because it may end up being a furniture. Her cheapest set was USD300 but transportation cost was USD550. It does not make sense to buy a set like this unless I was there for a visit which I intended to. I ended up buying from Macau because my sister wanted to tour Macau. Furthermore touring USA does not interest me. I am more in favour to go to the lands where dragons roam (I am a weird banana).

I still have not decided to buy a higher end guzheng if I did I will likely get a custome made Scarlett Bird from Carol. As it is now I am playing like I have no eyes. Cassie please comment. Each time I am in situation like this your comments lighted the way.

I dont have home minister like you but it does not mean I got big VISA. I have Empress Dowager, wor. I can get a lot of nag nag nag.

I am always making silly mistakes. Maybe it is because I am not listening as I use to. Now I have to play like Stevie Wonder. If I close my eyes, my ears becomes more powerful. So now I had to play 凤阳花鼓 again with my eye close. It is really amazing how well I play with eyes close. The problem is starting over. I am now pass the first three bars playing with my eyes closed.
