Sorry to burst your bubble. You seemed to be very naive (sorry to be blunt). It is just a nice mixed rabbit for a fair price.

This is BLANC DE HOTOT (standard size):

user posted image

This is DWARF HOTOT (dwarf as indicated by smaller size and shorter ears - a manifestation of the dwarf gene)

sangterap, wow! i cannot obtain those info by googling "hotot rabbit". ur GREAT  thumbup.gif

since ikano pet safari stated "hotot", definitely is not dwarf hotot where it is white with dark circle surround its eye. i choose my male hotot brown as i miss Mocha. the male holland lop i help take care for 5 days for my colleague. its from J Jay Petstation from Beh rabbitry.

sangterap and the rest, please tell me the truth after see attach photo. is it normal rabbit or good breed hotot?
as it is $80, i dont think i get a good breed.

To answer your question, you need to answer this question:

"Why are rabbits found in petshop?"

QUOTE(sangterap @ Oct 24 2010, 05:56 PM)
When quality pellets were hard to find in Malaysia more than 3 years ago, my rabbits were on those brandless pellets. If u take one of the pellets and try chewing, you will feel like you're biting SAND. I am not sure of the ingredients but if you try chewing on the quality pellets like Chubby Pets Garden's Pro Optimum pellets, you will be addicted to it and it is smooth to the throat when swallowed. So I am not sure how you want to judge between good and bad but just imagine the possible sand ingested by your rabbits if you continue feeding those brandless pellets.

Alfalfa is very rich in protein, that's the reason why we should not feed adult rabbits too much alfalfa hay. If your rabbit's poo is healthy and not watery, continue feeding on a minimum basis while switching to grass hay like Timothy or Bermuda grass. Alfalfa taste better and therefore your rabbits may not be interested with Timothy/Bermuda grass initially. Once you finish with Alfalfa, they have no other choice but to chow down on the grass hay.

Good luck!

thanks for the advice, I saw someone's signature with this link http://chubbypetsgarden.com/index.asp are their pellets good? i bought one pellet named "briter bunny" but i saw some bad comments about that product because it contains corn, so i discontinue to feed him with that. Isit true that its bad to feed pellets that contain corn?

Btw, i've seen alot people saying that to put a non slipery mat for rabbit so that it will be comfortable, i tried it, but the moment i put it in, he begin to chew chew chew, until one patch gone doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif What do i do now? my rabbit is very playful, any tips on how to train them?

thankyou in advance smile.gif

sangeterap, can you post the nearest photo of my male rabbit when it reach adulthood? i need mentally prepare.

ps
reason i choose that one because the rear legs felt like holland lop. some more his ear is short. dont think it will grow very long like normal rabbit.

It's quite impossible to predict the size of your rabbit when it matures as we don't know what the hotot was mixed with.
But you live in a house, size only is an issue if you live in a small apartment.

U missed sangterap's point about petshops.

yea. i have no issue with space as my front and back got garden. problem is i don't like normal rabbit. they are long n not cute. remind me as satay rabbit as ppl breed for its meat. not sure can return and ask for exchange. i recall two salesman said different things.the one who serve me said is hotot. but the cashier (another guy) key in as mix breed instead hotot. that time i thought mix breed = hotot+other breed. so dont bother much. but after few owners sharing, i had a bad feeling where mix breed = normal breed rabbit........

If it is a mix hotot, the hotot gene is very weak. Cause your rabbit doesn't look like a hotot. Mix breed could be any combination of rabbits. There is no such breed as a "normal breed" rabbit in actual fact. Just that in malaysia we tend to refer to our arnab kampung as "normal breed". Your rabbit doent look like arnab kampung, looks like one of the long hair mixes, maybe lionhead or angora.

Anyway, for rm90, that's a fair deal. Plus the rabbit really is very cute, you should consider keeping him.

Bro, thank you so much for taking me as a bunny god, but unfortunately I am not. I don't think your little bunny here will grow up very huge. Just medium size. I like playing guessing game so I am putting my bet that it will grow to be around 5 lbs.

Bro, I understand the preference. If you dislike the common rabbits, save up your money for pedigree. Why buy something you don't like and later just because it is not "branded" you want to return/replace it?

I encourage you to do enough research first before embarking into spending your money. For the money to spent total up you can actually get something you really want. But first, know what you want.

There's 2 parts to my question.

1. With the recent craze over imported/purebred rabbits, pet shops are giving names to common rabbits so to boost their SALES. Not a good indication for common rabbits in general - I believe they deserve same treatment as well. It is also sad to see people buying into their tactics.

2. Good stuff will never end up in pet shops. Sorry to be blunt. I also cannot deny the fact that there are good pet shops out there too. Generally, if a breeder can find good homes for their stocks, the rabbits will not end up in pet shops. I don't just mean sickly rabbits but pet shops are indeed the easiest outlet to sell any live stock. Again, I am not condemning the animals but the actions of men.

Bro, PLEASE DO NOT EVER DO THAT! What is the difference between doing that and for you to keep that rabbit that you feel that you do not like? Do you know that there are many people out there that will become like you? What is your objective in "kacuk"ing the rabbits? Let Holland Lop stay as Holland Lop and Angora stay as Angora.

Added on October 30, 2010, 9:42 amTry to avoid corn. Not a good ingredient for rabbits.

Not only corn, don't you think the colors are a little outrageous?

I am not condemning the credibility of other brands of pellets, but just want to share that the results are extremely obvious. The coat is shiny and smooth to touch. Here is the product of a rabbit on that feed:

user posted image

You can see the shine for yourself and there is no editing of photo here. Just bear in mind that whatever pellet brands you are using, fresh hay is most important. Take pellets as fillers to fill in the blank for the hay where it provides the rabbits with the necessary nutrients they need. Since you need to fill the void of what hay can't give you but mostly fiber, make sure you use good quality pellets.

This is an example of using other pellets prior to the one on my signature. This is the mother of the buck above. Even her coat has improved tremendously:

user posted image

The color of the fur is a little dull and coarse to touch.

The fur of the rabbit will show that the rabbit itself is healthy. As a good overall healthy INSIDE will eventually show on the OUTSIDE. Besides from fur quality, I realized that the death rates are lower among my rabbits.

Hope this explanation helps.

Look at my signature. That's the pellet I am using.

They are very small. 1.5 kg and less mostly.

u can reinforce the bottom of the cage with the wire bought from hardware shop.

1. fresh veggie/fruit from the supermarket, usually kangkung, long beans, pear and apples.
2. normal pallets
3. hay-pro brand timothy
4. jacob's low-salt hi-fibre biscuits as treats once in a while

today is Milo 2nd day. i notice her poox2 is lembik and not hard as Cici. I notice Milo keep eating since ytd. Good sign. Her food consists of alfafa, timothy and pellets. I give him more timothy so that her poox2 will become hard like pellets.

the more i see Milo (top photo), the more he look like attach rabbit (bottom photo).

Dude, you are comedy gold. You don't go to Petaling Street and buy a Rolex knock-off for 1/50th the price of an original, and then go to a Rolex forum and act like you're surprised why your fake Rolex doesn't look, feel or have the features of the original. This is just being retarded.

If you really can't afford a HL or are reluctant to spend the money on one, quit buying rabbits that you hope are 'close' or 'almost' the same. If you do, at least be happy with the one you bought. shocking.gif

You are doing great there don't worry. just try to cut down on kangkung, can cause wind. Fresh veges like bak choy and leafy greens are good. Keep it up. As long as no lettuce..
