Yesterday, just tested some movies with my newly bought PB12-NSD.... even with gain 9 o'clock and AVR at -19db walao the sofa was really rumbling, even my mom was keep asking "what is that, what is that" at the kitchen... really damn scared my windows, doors will crack later ..and also worry neighbors complain la...aiya really beh syiok family members keep on making noise.. no fun lo..

IMHO, this thing should not be placed in the living hall ..cannot fully utilize its power...really wanna try to run a bit hotter next time...

Btw, is there a recommended setting for music playing in order to smoothen the tightness of this sub?

Did you calibrate your sub volume to 75dB? Or are you running it hot? Does your AVR have something like Audyssey?

To tighten up the sub for music you might have to consider something like the Subdude.

I had advised him to get the Auralex Gramma smile.gif

It is being run hot at abt 2dB since he like bass. I did the calibration for him. Shall I say, my brother. His avr is 2310.

His living hall is quite big and with such big opening, we are able to achieve good LFE result. At -20dB, we tested WOTW Scene 6. He can feel the zaps and the sofa is 'massaging' (borrowed from Taukeh mpyw tongue.gif ) him.

Hi htkaki. What is the difference between 20hz and 15hk? How is the feeling like?

At 15Hz, you lose a bit of output since it has to dig lower. Anything below 20Hz, our ears cannot hear it but our body starts to feel it. At 20Hz, the output is slightly higher but you get less feel. I prefer 15Hz.

Best is to try both and experience for yourself. Some like 20, some like 15. The beauty is that the sub gives you options.

That's one of the good things about buying sub from htkaki. Got good setup service (unlike others whose setup seems a bit 'unusual' smile.gif).

There are a few SVS owners in PG. In fact, there is Piano finish PB13-Ultra.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying the sub smile.gif

once I change from 15hz to 20hz, do i need to re-run the Audyssey again? Did anyone of you know where can get a spl meter? how much?

Ideally yes you should re-run Audyssey since the freq curves are slightly different between 15Hz and 20Hz.

But for a quick test you can forget about re-running Audyssey, just change the tunes and port plugs for a quick listen. But for more proper testing re-run Audyssey.

I remember some people got the RS SPL meter from htkaki. Some of us have the CM140 SPL meter (that one buy from USA).

In fact, Audyssey settings on channel levels are pretty close to SPL meter. I have checked it many times & only need to tweak a tiny fraction to get it on dot.

Guys, do u think we should run Audyssey during new speakers run-in or after run-in period as its drivers loosing up.

Yup, for main and surround speakers the Audyssey is normally quite accurate. However do note the Audyssey mic can have variations of +/- 2dB (due to manufacturing tolerance). I once had an Audyssey mic that was consistently 2dB lower (but at least it was consistent smile.gif).

As for sub measurement, at least in the Denon 4311 there seems to be more variation. pierreye says his sub level is -5dB lower than the others. In mine it is -3dB lower. So for sub at least, the SPL meter helped us to double check.
