Hi,

Just wondering what you guys think is the best online broker in terms of web technology? I use cimb itrade and ecm libra. I feel ecmlibra's historical data is much more useful as it can be exported to excel.

On the other hand, cimb itrade's charts can go back quite a long ways till 2000 while ecm libra only goes back two years.

Maybe there's another broker you guys can recommend that has both historical data export and goes back further than just two years? nod.gif or share what you like about your broker's online trading platform? rclxms.gif

Thanks.

Most online brokers in town are using either N2N or Excel Force

Not much difference when it comes to trading platform, features sama saja
Some local online brokers offer add ons such as charting, 360 research (like RHB), technical calls

Look out for ecmmoney or RHBInvest

ecmmoney looks more fore front and its rates is very attractive

If possible, avoid to use Hong Leong bank, HLE, terrible service and only keen on their commission.
Service quality never improve, customers' portfolio never updated, even got providing wrong info which do not reflect actual unrealised profit.
Write in to complaint and they only know to call you for telling they are upgrading. Waiting for so many months also no news.
Regret to opt for their service. ....

SO far i have no problem using HLE.
Quite happy with their service as normally i place orders 1 day before &
check the status on trading day.
Their execution is very fast in the morning session but afternoon session a bit slow.
I usually get my order matched in the morning and most of the time the first order itself which mean my order is placed right infront
but afternoon session i notice my queue is a bit far behind, sometime only get matched after a few transactions done.
Nevertheless, still happy with it.

Do you guys ever charged for T4 transaction interest? I think other banks dont have this, right? According to what they ask is daily interest based on 9% p.a, but the total charges are more than that!! HLE did not even pick up the lots for you, yet they are cheeky enough to charge you. mad.gif .

Sometimes, i still have difficulty to access to HLE via HLB, keep displaying system error! There is even one incident when their system went haywire, imaging you Q for 1.75, but your request is still not match even the latest price at 1.72. You can imaging how good is their service!!! Typical chinapek's company, always thinking of extorting customer with their lousy service!!!!!!promise to upgrade their system, but never deliver as promised.

if you go open HLE account at their branch, you will need to figure alot of things yourself, their staff is not familiar with their own product, keep pushing you here and there.

I am too regret to have many lots of shares in HLE sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif , thinking to transfer or dispose them and then opt to other bank!!!!! maybank ok?

maybank is worst than HLE.
not to say that order was executed slow, around 5-10 mins delay after pre opening, their system always having maintenance too.
jupiter not bad also, i heard from some ecm libra is pretty good too.
but i still stick to Jupiter as i like their mobile trader, only HLE and Jupiter offers this service in Malaysia, i can trade anywhere, just with my hp.. smile.gif

at least their brokerage is cheap... and maybank share investment centres and backed by malaysia largest bank. it kinda gives you a bit peace of mind, knowing your money is always secure. compare to brokers like ecmlibra.

i admit i heard of them, ONLINE only.

other forumer said that RHB has stable and better platform more tools, but their comm is higher at 0.7% or rm28(not sure the current rate).

thanks to GHz's comm table for comparison, jupiter has the best rate but is their platform stable? no hiccups and such? is it service friendly and easy transaction? open account hassle free?

If need urgently then better you go to their office. Your account will be open on the spot.

If you just doing the online registration, you need to get all the form sign up & go to notary public & send to form to them which I think take much longer.

The Excel Force software used by HLE doesn't have a Good-until-cancel or Good-till-Date feature when placing orders. You have to re-enter the order each day.

It this a restriction placed only by HLE? Or is it exactly the same for all brokers that use Excel Force?

Confirmed ... You can do it with CIMB's itrade as I am using it all the time
I usually set it at he beginning of the month , for the whole month.
For buy or sell you can do that... but there is no stop limit facility

HLEbroking is getting worse. Previuosly they send my orders exactly at 8:30:00am and my orders will queue right upfront, but now they are taking their time. I am switching my broker

yea, that because they are using activex.

the only thing i don't like about HLeBroking is that the CDS account is a nominee sad.gif

Not sure which is the best, but I would say CIMB (been using it for sometime)

HLE's cash upfront accs only charge 0.1% for transac with rm12 min commission.

otherwise with margin n share collateral is 0.4% with min rm12.

service wise, i've never been happier with the speed of their order execution. interface is the same as RHB's, helpdesk has been really helpful n nice to listen to wub.gif

only downside: the site only supports IE.

No. You need to maintain a minimum of RM100 in your trust account to remain active.

This applies to their normal cash upfront account. I am not sure whether it is true for margin account.

Replied from my broker :-

The flat RM12 is new product and need to open a new one. Condition is must intraday, use internet order. If overnight, the rate is 0.54% and this higher than ur original 0.42. Always remain RM5000 to ur A/c

I saw some where that stated
" 1. SETTLEMENT OF PURCHASE CONTRACTS
Pursuant to Bursa Malaysia’s settlement rule, clients are required to settle their purchase contracts by 12.30pm on the 3rd market day (T+3) following the date of transaction (T).
Clients Trading On Cash Upfront Basis
Clients’ cash deposit (also known as Trust) will automatically be deducted on T+3 to settle the purchase contracts due.
Clients Trading NOT on Cash Upfront Basis "
Does it means i dont need to pay the trading amount to trade but can wait til T+3?

If yes, does it expose to certain interest?

Few quick question:-
1)If im using Clients Trading On Cash Upfront Basis, will the money only be settled to broker account at 3rd day, which is T+3 but not immediately during the trade date/time?

2) By looking at the attachment, there is "Bcum" stated 406 and "Scum" stated 580.
What does these 2 figure represented? let say the current price is 1.87, the Bcum of 406 represented that there are 406 lots are queing up to buy at the price of 1.85?

let say if i want to buy at current price of 1.87, how do i know whether there is any share available for me to buy?

Thanks in adv.

That's great info!

What platform u're using to show this figure? Seems like mine is far different from this. Im using Jupiter.

Added on August 9, 2010, 10:16 pm1 question, what if the price suddenly drop to 4.95 which bypass 4.97.. Those buyer queing at 4.97 will not able to get to buy at 4.95 because they queue at 4.97?

im using HLebroking.

its not possible to bypass 4.97.
you'd have to sapu all the 4.97 prices before u can get to 4.95. i.e. the sellers will sell to 4.97.. no more 4.97 buyers, 4.95 buyers.. 4.94 buyers.. etc. and that's how the price falls.

If the price dropped to 4.97 and there is seller sell at this price. may be the seller is not able to cope with the buyer at 4.97 and the price dropped to 4.95.. those remaining buyer wish to buy at 4.97 will enjoy to buy the price at 4.95 1st and then only for those queue at 4.95?

Get what i mean?

lemme try and get what ur trying to say. laugh.gif

the only way for this to happen is there's a wave of sellers, and the 4.97 buy queue gets wiped out to fall to the 4.95 queue.
buyers who still wish to buy at 4.97 will get the price at 4.97, because effectively they will be jumping queue.

so, this is what will happen.
1. 4.97 sellers will panic sell to 4.97 first, no more then sell to 4.95. stock price falls to 4.95.
2. buyers who wish to buy at 4.97, will buy at 4.97 (next best sell queue), price rises to 4.97.

the rationale for this is, when the price drops to 4.95, there will be sellers queueing at 4.97, while those sellers that are impatient will sell at the 4.95 buy queue (slowly sapuing it), so any buyers who want to buy at 4.97, won't be able to get the stock at 4.95, but will get the stock at 4.97, because there are sellers queueing at 4.97.

alternative scenario : if there are no sellers queueing at 4.97, but only at 5.00, a buy queue of 4.97 will be created, pushing the 4.95 queue to second place. sellers will then sell to the 4.97 queue instead of 4.95.

it might sound really hard to understand without pictures, but just try monitoring one of the active stocks tomorrow, say mudajaya. you'll get what i mean. smile.gif

Haha, i think i got you... So eventually those buyer who wish to buy at 4.97 normally will get the priority instead of those who willing to buy at 4.95 eventhough the price is falling to 4.95. Am i right?

If this is the case, I got the same question. Use Tchong as illustration, Now got 10 lots queing to buy at 4.97. Ok, now the price really fall to 4.97 and there are 9 lots sold, left 1 lot not yet sold right? At this point of time, the price drop to 4.95, will the remaining 1 lot order who willing to buy at 4.97 still remain on the board or the order will be cancelled automatically?

If this is the case, I got the same question. Use Tchong as illustration, Now got 10 lots queing to buy at 4.97. Ok, now the price really fall to 4.97 and there are 9 lots sold, left 1 lot not yet sold right? At this point of time, the price drop to 4.95, will the remaining 1 lot order who willing to buy at 4.97 still remain on the board or the order will be cancelled automatically?
*
haha good, yeah you're right. priority goes to whoever is willing to jump the queue and buyer higher/ sell lower.
the order will still remain as one lot. anyone who puts a sell order at 4.97 will only get a partial order match of 1 lot.

say im a seller, i place sell 10 lots at 4.97 but unluckily when it comes to my turn to buy, buyer only wants to buy 1 lot. so deal will automatically be done for 1 lot. at this point, the 4.97 buy queue will be wiped out, and next buy queue will be 4.95. so i'll be left in the 4.97 sell queue with 9 lots of buy @4.97, while other sellers will probably jump queue and sell at 4.95 to the next available buyer (at 4.95)

orders wont be cancelled. they'll remain but you'll get a partial match if there isn't enough quantity to match your order.

there's another scenario as well..

say i am seller B in the sell queue (i want to sell 50 lots). there's a seller A in front of me in the sell queue.. (because he placed the order earlier than me). he wants to sell 28 lots. in comes a buyer wanting to buy at our sell price. he wants to buy 60 lots. so the system will automatically settle the trades. he will take 28 from seller A in front of me, and 32 from me. so i'll be left with a partial trade done at 32 lots. with 18 lots left in the queue.

get it?

I am also a user of GOOGLE Chrome but when I click on this link : http://www.apexetrade.com/bin/home.asp, I am able to go in.

I think you should do something to your pop up setting like always allow pop up from this webpage.

You can also try calling them at 03-87361118 and look for their customer service,I tried that before too.

Student above 21 years old can open a share trading account.I believe certain broker would ask the student to provide certain documentation like their saving account or maybe their university student card to show their current occupation.

no....they aren't...their 0.05% per contract is only for contract value more than rm50k

ecmmoney is having promotion now of 0.05% per contract

for less than rm50k, jupiter is offering 0.1% per contract, which is similar to hle's 0.1% per contract - valuetrade

Can a fresh graduate who hasn't secured a job open a trading account? I thought I see somewhere that you need to provide your pay slip to open a trading account.

And I notice when I was looking for job in investment banks, the employer will tell you to terminate your trading account with other brokerage/ investment banks. Any idea why?

If no pay slip bank statement is ok.

for your 2nd questions, that's the rule imposed by Bursa (Rule 702.2(1)). It is to avoid conflict of interest. you can only have trading account with the bank/broker you're working with, and everytime you want to trade, you have to report it and get permission from MD.

best is still jupiter. i m strong supporter of jupiter. i started my account 2 years ago. until now, their rates maintain. alot other brokers offer promotion prices and increase the rates without letting us know.

jupiter system is also much more faster than Maybank or OSK. their customer service also very efficient.

You can have more than one CDS and nominee account with different stockbroking house.

Meantime, it is now possible ultilize your EPF A/C to invest into shares like what I had been doing for years.

0.1% for sub Maybank IB so called appointed agents but only for nominees account...not for the main IB...but IMO if u like full control of your money no hassle transfers in or out between savings and trust accounts, better use the same broker than your savings ie Mbank/CIMB...but if u r tight in squeezing your profit, margin, time, better use others that provide cheap fee...just my 2 cents...

When I was just starting my forex trading, I always go to this site and learn from the questions of others, it's very informative most especially when you don't know how to trade stocks. Be a great trader online with Ask Mario Singh of FX Primus. They have great articles on how to start your career in stocks.

Dear all,

I'm from the business development dept of SJ Securities Sdn Bhd. Just wanted to provide a few updates for you guys here.

I have just emailed the moderator from www.i3investor.com to update their summary list of brokers in Malaysia. I think it's a good website for you to have a glance on which brokers, their rates and some of their special services. Here's the link:

List Of Broker Firms In Malaysia

As for SJ Securities, this is the summary of what we offer:

Online Brokerage Rates

0-100k: 0.42%
>100k: 0.35%
Intraday: 0.15%
Minimum: RM12
Cash upfront: negotiable

Trading Limit

2 x cash collateral, 1 x shares collateral

Payment Method

-Online and direct bank-in: Maybank & CIMB

Special Offers/ Feature

-Trading platform is using N2N Connect and now it can be used with all browsers without major issues
-Supports Good Till Date (GTD) order - order valid until a certain date specified by the client.
-Interest free margin account for purchase contracts up to T+10 (SJenie SMarT)
-Mobile trading available via iMSL@SJenie app for Android (Google Play) & Apple (App Store)

Summary:

- I won't say that SJ offers the best brokerage rates in town, but SJ does offer some margin products with attractive features (T+10 contracts, holding contract up to 1 calendar month).
- SJ has realtime stock quotes and tracker. You can sign up for free at www.sjec.com (Just click 'Sign Up' on the top right corner)
- From time to time, SJ does come up some attractive promotions (like recently, SJ offered a 'Give Me 5' promotion, which is a cash-upfront trading with commission as low as 0.042% or min. RM5)

A Little Bit of Myself:

- I just recently joined this company and my job is to develop business for the company (SJ Securities is on a major expansion stage to become a 1+1 broker company)
- I came from two investment banks before I joined here. This is my third broker firm
- I am a dual licenced broker (equities, futures and options)

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. Will help to answer you if I have the time.

Regards.

Actually, i used SJ Securities (by N2N), OSK188 (Their own), Maybank2u (by Excel Force) and Kenanga (By Excel Force).

To me, the features are 90% the same.
OSK has the most dummy trading platform - simply for buy sell

Kenanga shifted from N2N old platform to Excel Force is now more functions. But the functions are almost the same to Hwang, Affin, Maybank2u.

So, not much difference unless you are are super trader that need complicated tools. Else....mereka lebih korang sama lo.

I just trade with whichever broker that provide:
1. Low rate
2. Fast platform (Non JAVA)
3. On and off has promotion like contest

Recently Kenanga throw some lucky draw on gadgets:
https://www.kentrade.com.my/KenTrade/nav_event_TradeWin.aspx

Maybe have luck while trading, who knows?

No sure any OSK188 users here. The online trading platform had been down since 9 Oct and till now still not being resoved - for more than one week!!

Also, no clue for any possible fix in foreseeable future. No special gesture or act taken to comfort the clients over the inconverniences induced except for one standard notice announcemnet.
Is this the current standards of service industry Take it or leave it.

I intend to switch to another online broker, the only issue is the hassle to switch all various stocks in my current CDS acc to a new CDS acc of a new borker. I really fed up with this kind of standards of services which still can exist in current consumer-focus services industry.

dtna 7, I ever wrote the feedback to them twice, standard answer given.

I don't think that we should deserve this kind of services unless it is a monopoly industry. I am thinking of getting the remisier of a new broker to arrange the transfer of the shares to a new CDS acc. It is really incompetent and not customer focus services that we get.

i just opened a trading account with maybank.

they have cash account (direct cds or nominee) that offers 0.1% or rm8 minimum brokerage. the only downside is, you can only trade according to the amount of cash available in your account. they won't give you 2x or 3x collateral for this.

if you want collateral, open a non margin account with 0.42% brokerage...

this is the nominee account right?

so MBB will just credit the "dividend receivable by you" minus RM2.50, into your account right away??

There are some benefits with nominee accounts, but I also feel that it is not worth it. Mostly you don't need to fill out forms when there are special corporate actions and go to the post office to send them out since the nominees will do that for you.

But I have also encoun
