I have a few questions here.
First of all, while i was setting up the new Qosmio F60-S531, i got to choose the windows version and i chose 64 bit. And when the recovery process from Toshiba software is done, it enters the windows and says preparing for the first time usage. And then when it enters the windows, before i can even do anything, it just start a windows that says it's configuring system and then after that reboot. Enter windows again and start configuring again and reboot again. And this loop seems like goes on forever. I think it happened at least 7 times until i shutdown the laptop. Is it the normal procedure ? Should i just let it configure and reboot as many times as it wants ? What if the loops goes on forever ? Well, my case is kinda special cause i notice a DEAD PIXEL on the brand new machine. I did the setting up of the laptop on the spot in the shop by myself cause i have actually known the shop owner for quite sometime. When it was running the Toshiba recovery software there's no DEAD PIXEL and when it started the windows then suddenly i notice the DEAD PIXEL on the LCD. -.=" It sucks big time when the new machine i have anticipated for so long are faulty T.T Anyone experienced this problem ? But the shop owner says that she'll send it back to her supplier and see what can be done. I am expecting a brand new machine but not just a fix as i didnt even accepted the machine as a customer. Disappointed, not in Toshiba, but the fact that i couldnt bring it home yesterday. Arrggghhhh !!!!! |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Oct 3 2010, 05:35 PM) LOL.... you definitely want a Toshiba ar? O____O There's many other good laptops from other brands worth considering too... well i had a good experience with my m100 thats why i want toshiba. my father is still trying to make me buy fujitsu sh560 i5. Still, if it must be Toshiba, then yes, the L635/645/655 are the closest to the M900 in terms of price/performance. They more or less offer the same specs, so it ultimately boils down to what laptop size you prefer (and what color too) haha I need to warn you that they are rather glossy though... not suitable for hygienic people Well.... personally (as an audiophile), the harman/kardon speakers are better (louder too x____x) than cheaper external speakers... you will need to spend at least RM200++ to get really good speakers (I'm assuming you're an audiophile, like me haha BTW, when will you be getting your laptop? If its Toshiba then do check out http://www.celebratewithtoshiba.com/ They're giving away free coupons to extend your local warranty to 3 years (worth RM299). The event last until 31 October. i think almost all laptop are glossy now. i remember helping a friend of mine to find a suitable non glossy windows laptop for her but couldnt find 1, she ended up buying mac book. to tell you the truth... i hate glossy laptop. your finger prints will be all over it yes im an audiophile too. RM200????? damn!!! ill be sure to check them out. i want to get them at the end of this month. that free coupons gives the more reasons to do so... BIG BIG THANK U!!!!! |

Fujitsu models are known for their superb reliability and quality, most of the senior researches in my institute uses Fujitsu as they need to travel out to sea regularly, no problems there. But you know la, you need to pay for the quality... and they are so damn expensive for the low specs they offered that I can't even bear to buy them Actually there's a few non-glossy laptops out there leh.... for instance, the Toshiba Portege T210, 230 has special materials which do not pick up fingerprints and dusts that easily.... the main problem is that they run on ULV processors and has no dedicated GPU- those laptops are meant solely for portability... My advice is don't get a glossy laptop if you hate glossiness (like me) haha.... Toshiba's keyboard buttons are glossy too, which is rather annoying.... at least other laptops only their other parts (except the keyboard) is glossy LOL Well, master astria recommended me the Creative Gigaworks T20/T40... I'm very interested in those!! Garage sales is selling T20 for RM399 I think... Last time even got promotion selling RM220 for one set... damn I missed that promotion and now I feel rugi if I buy for RM 399 This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Oct 5 2010, 10:18 AM |

Yes, its a normal procedure, the laptop will startup and reboot each time a new, significant driver is installed... The whole process will need several hours, especially so for 64-bit OS... The whole point of the starting up and rebooting is to save you all the trouble of having to go to the internet and download all the drivers and install them 1-by-1 o ^^ As for the dead pixel, perhaps you should wait until you have let the laptop finished installing all the drivers then only you can say whether its because of faulty machine or not... I don't think need to return the laptop back to the supplier for the time being... Let's just hope shutting down the laptop during the initial boot up will not damage the laptop |

I shut it down because they are closing the shop already...it was way past their closing hour and since there's a dead pixel she say she'll have to send it back so she ask me just shut it down. LOL. Well, it could be dead pixel or stuck pixel.
if stuck pixel, just use some software to "massage" the pixel and it will be fine, but if dead pixel, then replacement is the only way.... |

They almost the same, just one can be fixed, one can't...
But since yours just bought it, should ask for 1 to 1 replacement.... This post has been edited by lee_what2004: Oct 5 2010, 02:25 PM |
