Hi, i am planning to get Toshiba Qosmio F60-S531.
And here i have a few questions to ask.
* How is the build for this laptop ? Is there any parts that will spoilt easily ?
* How about the heat sink for the laptop ? Does it produce a lot of heat ? Does it get overheated very easily ?
* Of all the Toshiba user here do you guys get a lot of hardware problem ? Like, LCD flickering ? or Overheating ? faulty HDD ? etc etc ?
* How exactly does the warranty works ? I get 1 year warranty and i have to register online to activate the 1 year warranty ? If i wan to extend i have to be there in person to Teledynamics ? Or i can just call them ?
* It's running on i3-350m which is 2.26Ghz and using GT 330m, I am worried that the processing power isnt strong enough for me or to last for upcoming softwares in 2 years time.
* All information i can find about it's HDD is only 500GB with shock absorbers. Does anyone here know if it's running on 5400rpm or 7200rpm ?
* How is the sound quality of the Harmon Kardon speaker ? I am not expecting super powerful speaker, it just needs to be decent, not too soft, and balanced overall. Is it so ?
I think i asked too many questions here but it's a investment for me as i am gonna put in money and use it for quite sometime.
Thanks in advance for answering my doubts. Very much appreciated.
Wah.... still got people interested in the Qosmio F60 ar haha... I'm abit surprised.
First of all, if you are planning to game alot on this laptop then there's a lot of better options out there which you should consider.
The Qosmio F60 is mainly for multimedia usage
To answer your questions:
* Its a Qosmio, you can expect the best haha

Still, due to its slim-type design, the area around the optical drive is rather weak. The screen is attached to the base of the laptop by a single hinge (apparently

), because of that, the screen will wobble if you are too harsh at typing.
* Heat sinks? I would like to think that this laptop has the most heat sinks around. Refer pic below of my Qosmio F60:
Due to the large amounts of heat sinks, the Qosmio F60 works wonderfully with the Cooler Master NotePal series cooler pads. The F60-S531 runs on an i3 summore, so it won't be very heaty.
* I've used 4 Toshiba laptops before. They are known for their reliability. Still, sometimes it depends on luck as well as how well you take care of your laptop. I think Toshiba has more software incompatibility problems than hardware problems
* Once you buy your laptop. You need to go to their website and register for the free 1 year international warranty. If you want to extend your warranty to 2 or 3 years, you can either ask the shop people to handle it for you; or you can go to Teledynamics to do it yourself (way faster). But do take note that there's a Toshiba event lately which gives away free 2nd and 3rd year local warranty (worth RM299 for normal Toshiba; RM499 for Qosmios). You might want to take a look into that if you decided to buy a Toshiba laptop.
* Yeah, the processor is weak. Some more the laptop will be initially running on a 32-bit system meaning you cannot fully utilize the RAM. Need to switched to 64-bits.
* 5400rpm
* You can expect the best from harman/kardon speakers. The speakers are the best feature for the Qosmio F60 apart from the looks. At 50% volume you will feel that its too loud already LOL

The quality is simply superb! You should try it out on a display unit then you'll be surprised!
So all in all, better get an Asus N-series laptop haha

... they are smaller, and more powerful but more expensive abit
